Just this past week I had the pleasure of sitting down with Michael Steele, Chairman of the Republican National Committee. All smiles when he greeted me, we sat down on the now infamous Fire Nancy Pelosi Bus in the heart of Harlem. Chairman Steele had a clear, determined, and heartfelt message. Be active.
While discussing the goals of the Republican Party, Steele was clear that being active and being pushed out of their comfort zone was an important element in gaining and keeping support of the American people. He cited growing urban activism and promising candidates such as Michael Faulkner who was campaigning in Harlem, and whom Steele stood up for during an event at Gospel Uptown that day. He also had a very decided opinion on the Tea Party. While “our friends” on the left have put forth this idea there is rift between the Republican establishment and the Tea party, Michael says it simply doesn’t exist.
