The Rise of the Moderate Republican- An Endangered Species?

The things that will destroy America are prosperity-at-any-price, peace-at-any-price, safety-first instead of duty-first, the love of soft living, and the get-rich-quick theory of life.
~Theodore Roosevelt

There is a lot of talk in Republican circles about “Rhino Hunting”- described as kicking out anyone in the Party who does not fit the definition of Republicanism. The self-styled Rhino-hunter believes he is the tried and true Republican and thus our party’s lost this election was because of moderates like Sen. McCain.
Rhino-hunters, if they had their way, would choose a candidate who  emphasized social issues, such as anti-immigration or abortion as there …

It All Means Nothing, If Kids Can’t Read

From the 2008 election cycle you would never know that the most important issue today is the dismal state of our public education system. I feel comfortable making such a strong proclamation because none of John McCain’s or Barack Obama’s promise of “change” can last or transform when 30% of our young people perpetually fail to complete high school each year. More troubling is that over 50% of African American males are part of this group. We also ignore that a significant number of kids move through the system without learning to read. No economic policy matters if children cannot …

The Lenny Commentary: Politics and Perception

Aired LIVE during “Fox News Rising” October 27, 2008
According to a recent CBS/New York Times poll, Senator Barack Obama leads Senator John McCain by 13 points, indicating that this presidential election is practically over. An Associated Press presidential poll conducted the same day shows that Senator McCain has overcome his challenges, narrowing the gap to a slim one-point deficit that reflects the campaign chant, “MAC IS BACK.” Newsweek says that “MAC IS FLAT”, showing a 12-point deficit for the Republican nominee. And, of course, in the Super Bowl of polling, CNN’s “Poll of Polls” has the margin around seven percent …

In the Sunday, September 14th edition of the Washington Post, my Professor, Randall Kennedy, spoke to “The Big ‘What If,’” outlining the potential fallout should Senator Barack Obama lose this race for the presidency.
Professor Kennedy speaks to Black anxiety regarding the seemingly all-but-inevitable conclusion that should Obama lose, it will be because of “a vague, sophisticated, low-key prejudice that is chameleonlike in its ability to adapt to new surroundings and to hide even from those firmly in its grip.”
As an African-American supporting Senator John McCain this election cycle, I find it hard to believe that I am …

“Lord who made the Lion and the Lamb, You decreed I should be what I am. Would it spoil some vast eternal plan, if I were a wealthy man?”- Topol as Tevye- The Fiddler on the Roof (1971)
This feeling of desperation reflects American sentiment in this Presidential campaign. It is the manipulation of hearts and the twisting of ideas that has quickly driven us into the trap of the liberal agenda, which is quickly normalizing itself through our school systems, media, and the courts.
Our country is at a crossroads where our freedom and power are at risk from …

I’m Young, Black and Hispanic and Voting for John McCain. Here’s Why

By Claudio Simpkins

Far from being the post-racial campaign that pundits have talked and written about for months, this election cycle is proving to be the most racialized ever. Every word, gesture, act or omission is scrutinized by the media for double-meaning or racial undertones. But when we move beyond race and talk about what really matters -– the qualities we all seek in a president –- things become clearer. Senator John McCain is the best man for the job.
This doesn’t take anything away from Senator Obama. As a young Black and Hispanic male, I see Senator Obama as a …
