Raynard Jackson: Blacks and the Economics of Voting

image

How long will the Black community continue to allow the Obama administration and the Democratic Party to insult them and then blame it on Obama not wanting to be perceived as a “Black” president?

Let me give an example. You have invested in a business project, Obama Inc.

There were 4 classes of investors: class W, which comprised 74% of the total stock; class B, which comprised 13% of the total stock, class H, which comprised 9% of the total stock; and class G, which comprised 4% of the total stock. How would you respond to the CEO of Obama Inc. if he says the rate of return (ROI) payout would be as follows: those who invested in class W stocks would be paid first, followed by, class G, then class L and the last to be paid back would be class B.

Well, any sane businessman would expect to be paid by order of the largest to the smallest investor. If you were part of the class W stock (74%), you should be paid first and work your way down to the smallest investor. This is normal and logical in the world of business.

Black, Gay and Republican?

Two of the four Republican candidates in D.C. Council races this year are black gay men. That may seem surprising — exit polls showed just 27 percent of gay voters chose the GOP ticket in 2008, while just four percent of black voters did so.

In Ward 1, Marc Morgan is challenging Democrat Jim Graham, who is seeking a fourth term. Morgan, a fundraiser and strategist for environmental, HIV/AIDS, and lesbian/gay/bisexual/transgender causes, is focusing primarily on green technology as a means to bring jobs and businesses into the ward. He also wants to rebuild D.C. education programs to increase college opportunities.

In Ward 5, Tim Day, an advisory neighborhood commissioner and native, is taking on Democrat Harry Thomas, Jr., who is seeking a second term. Day, the first in his family to attend college, heads his own accounting firm. He is a cancer survivor and serves as a spokesman for the Avon Walk for Cancer. Like Morgan, Day is also an advocate for HIV/AIDS causes.

The Silent Killer: Should the GOP Address the War on HIV-AIDS?

image

Less than two weeks ago, while speaking on a panel for Fox News Strategy Room, actress Shery Lee Ralph and I spoke on the incredible silence draped over the issue of HIV and AIDS in America. The reality of AIDS, especially in the black community, is clear but not heard.

The question of which political party will address this issue becomes irrelevant, because of the virulent nature of this deadly virus. Despite President Bush’s unpopular presidency for eight years, the President directed $500 million dollars in federal spending towards HIV-AIDS relief and research, more than any U.S. President in history. Previously during the President Reagan years, the level of knowledge on HIV was minimal in comparison with the medical knowledge of today.

Tale of Two Queens – The Gay Case against Perez Hilton

By Dennis Sanders  I’ve never been a big fan of the gossip columnist Perez Hilton. I don’t why, but he just doesn’t fascinate me. Hilton has made news recently by saying some not so nice comments about Miss California, Carrie Prejean when she answered a question about gay marriage from Hilton at the Miss USA [...]

Warren, Prayer and “Unity”

The pundits, the pundits like to slice-and-dice our country into Red States and Blue States; Red States for Republicans, Blue States for Democrats. But I’ve got news for them, too. We worship an “awesome God” in the Blue States, and we don’t like federal agents poking around in our libraries in the Red States. Dennis [...]
