The conservative Republican and former lieutenant colonel is raising mad money in his “Operation Go West” bid to unseat Rep. Ron Klein (D-Fla.) in Florida’s 22nd Congressional District seat. In the quarter that ended June 30, he raised $1.4 million (topping his previous best quarter of $838,000 during the first three months of 2010).

With spending of $348,000 during the three months, Mr. West continues to build up cash for the important – and expensive – advertising campaign in the autumn. He has a total of $2.18 million in cash on hand as of the end of the quarter. Total money raised during the campaign is close to $3.5 million. “It’s a clear sign that we have the momentum,” campaign manager Josh Grodin said. “People are fed up with what’s happening in Washington and they’re looking for new leadership.”

Deon Long is a young Floridian who is running for Florida’s 24th Congressional District. His campaign message is one that seeks to advance a pro-growth free market agenda while in D.C.

Armando Gutierrez is a young Hispanic Republican who wants to take on U.S. Rep. Alan Grayson, D-Orlando, in next years election. On September 29, 2009, Grayson made a speech regarding health care proposals in the U.S. House. During it he said, “The Republican health care plan is this: ‘Don’t get sick, and if you do get sick, die quickly.

As time went by and the southern conservative began to switch from the Democratic Party to the republicans and increased their level of influence, the idea of an “eastern establishment” which had until then formed the base of support for the Republican Party had become a target for the modern conservative movement.

Those who support a single payer, public option plan should recognize this already exists in the form of Medicaid/Medicare/SCHIP. These are government medical programs which are funded by our taxpayer dollars. These programs are intended to cover those who fall within the respective cracks in the system.

Any political analyst will admit that the Republican Party is in a serious downward spiral, but the Florida GOP and its governor, Charlie Crist, give me some hope for the future.

On Tuesday, May 5,  Marc Rubio from Florida announced that his he is officaly putting his hat into the campaign for the United States Senate.
