Raynard Jackson: Obama & Business as Usual

image

Can you imagine Michael Jordan seeking advice on basketball from a ping pong player, or Tiger Woods seeking advice on his golf swing from a rugby player, or Bill Gates seeking advice on technology from a Buddhist monk? Even Hollywood, with all its creative energy, could not have come up with such a script. Even if they did, no one would believe them. They would be run out of town. But, what would you say if I told you of a real life story that seems just as ridiculous, but yet, actually happened?

What if I told you the irony of all ironies was that it happened during Black History Month and there has been little public reaction to this amazing occurrence.

Thomas Sowell on Intellectuals and Economics

image

Intellectuals and Society is the latest in a series of books on Western `intellectuals’, by Thomas Sowell. Intellectuals deal with ideas, but may not do so intelligently. Sowell is mainly concerned with the verifiability of ideas. The social visions of intellectuals like Rousseau, Marx and Engels, Galbraith, and Keynes have had dire consequences.

Ho-Ho-Ho…We’re Screwed!

This holiday season, as millions of Americans decorate their homes, exchange gifts, volunteer at local shelters, and spend time with their loved ones, let us consider our government’s wish list: Fed-induced monetary “stimulus” and trillion dollar health care reform. Both big ticket items and both seemingly paved with good intentions. Who wouldn’t want a strong economy and affordable health care? But, someone should tell this current administration that there is no Santa Claus and you just can’t get something for nothing.

Unfortunately, the bureaucrats in Washington just don’t get it.They continuously have said deficit spending would revive our economy, as would artificially low benchmark interest rates.

Dangerous Freedom: The Case for Capitalism

Blacks and Her African Cousins

In Texas, more than 70% of corporations formed and registered by blacks in the Secretary of State office, are for non-profits [social entities for some lousy programs because Blacks have been convinced and shepherded into thinking that the way to go is to be ‘given’ something and all one need do is show up again next year and ask for some more - Oliver Twist mentality.

For the Africans, s/he is sold on NGOs, non-governmental organizations because for the West to undermine the integrity of some national governments, they have cultivated ways to circumvent the governments they want; giving something but never enough to make any positive difference. In turn, the unsuspecting African like her cousin in USA - America, has joined the ranks of beggars depending on the so called generosity of some God’s sent westerner with money. Deceptive practices of the highest order.

The American Company: How it’s been forgotten

image

The world of economics is a complex one, and because of this, it is quite difficult to state anything as 100% correct in the field of economics. Once the clunkers program came to an end, I began to think more about the ideals of the American company. Noting that over 75% of all cars sold from the program were of foreign make, it struck me that perhaps Americans have forgotten about the successes of their own domestic companies and businesses.

Economics: The New Slavery in Black America

 By Brandon Brice
Last Sunday as I sat in the congregation of one of the most prestigious churches in Harlem, it mesmerized me to hear the praises, chats and applauses for President Barack H. Obama, as our nation’s 44th President of the United States. As a black man, it was an incredible moment in history to see someone who shared my same features, living on 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. Interestingly, statistics show that a large majority of Americans feel that racism no longer exist, but fail to realize that the real culprit may be economics, not racism. Economics is the study of …
