“Negro Dialect?”: Harry Reid’s Time Warp.

image

“Light-skinned” African-American; “with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one” is what the accused, US Senator Harry Reid, admitted saying in reference to the current President of the United States. Members of the jury I want it noted that both the senator and the commander-in-chief are members of the political party ( Democrat ) which brands itself as African-Americans secular saviors. I want the record to reflect my shock ( yeah right! ) that a Democrat of such stellar standing would stoop to racist language more fitting a Republican. This imaginary opening statement is from a trial by public opinion envisioned to address these comments. As y’all can see, I’m no fan of racists or Democrats per se.

Memo to Black Folks and progressives: You’ve got your share of ideological Klansman too!! They just mask it better than counterparts on the political Right. We should welcome this revelation about the good Senator as proof that prejudice isn’t conveniently confined to White folks with ” R” for Republican after their names. Lest we forget, Southern Democrats met all 20th Century federal civil rights legislation with rhetorical pitch forks jabbing. These jabs were punctuated by police gunfire and billy club blows targeting down South civil rights protesters. Officers in these violent jurisdictions were proud ” yellow dog Democrats ” since that was the only party in the South at that time. I’ve seen too much racism from Dems local and otherwise to fall for their ” Black people’s best friend ” routine. The GOP has set new lows in modern racism itself but at least their racists are up front about it. I respect honesty over patronizing lies any day of the week.

THE BLACK INDIVIDUALIST OF THE REPUBLICAN PARTY: SENATOR EDWARD BROOKE

image

At a time when African-Americans were deserting The Republican Party in favor of The Democrats, Edward Brooke of Massachusetts remained with The Republican Party becoming the first Black Attorney General of his state from 1962 to 1966. In 1966, he became the first African-American elected to the Senate since the end of Reconstruction and the beginning of the era of Jim Crow. He was also the first African-American elected to this position in the state of Massachusetts. While Senator Edward Brooke remained loyal to the Republican Party, however, he proved himself to be a renegade and highly individualistic in that the issues he supported were far more liberal than the stance which The Republican Party usually took on such issues including the laws in place which he needed to enforce as the Massachusett’s State Attorney General.

Blacks and Her African Cousins

image

In Texas, more than 70% of corporations formed and registered by blacks in the Secretary of State office, are for non-profits [social entities for some lousy programs because Blacks have been convinced and shepherded into thinking that the way to go is to be ‘given’ something and all one need do is show up again next year and ask for some more - Oliver Twist mentality.

For the Africans, s/he is sold on NGOs, non-governmental organizations because for the West to undermine the integrity of some national governments, they have cultivated ways to circumvent the governments they want; giving something but never enough to make any positive difference. In turn, the unsuspecting African like her cousin in USA - America, has joined the ranks of beggars depending on the so called generosity of some God’s sent westerner with money. Deceptive practices of the highest order.

THE BACKWARDS MARCH OF TIME

In Loving V. Virginia, Richard Loving who was Caucasian, and his wife, named Mildred loving who was of African and Native American Descent, sued the state of Virginia which had not only invalidated the Loving interracial union but had also forced the couple to leave the state of Virginia. The Loving couple won their case in 1967 with the Supreme Court saying that they could not tell Richard and Mildred whom to marry.

It is with great sadness, therefore, given the five hundred years of sexual racism which African Americans have been the primary victims of, that a Justice of the Peace named Keith Bardwell from Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana feels that it is his God-given right and even, his duty as a Christian to refuse to marry interracial couples when one party is Caucasian and the other Negroid.

Mr. Bardwell has broken the law four times so far to date in Tangipahoa Parish with his latest victims being 30 year old Beth Humphrey and 32 year old Terence Mckay. Unlike the Loving Couple in 1967, for instance, .Humphrey is Caucasian while Mckay is Black. According to Mary Foster of The Associated Press, the couple were told by Bardwell on October 6th, 2009 that he would not sign a marriage license for an interracial couple. The reason he cited for his refusal is because the children from such unions are not happy because they are usually not accepted by either The African-American Community nor by the Caucasian Community.

THE PROGRESSIVE REPUBLICAN LION: JAMES L. FARMER JR.

image

James Farmer Jr. is, perhaps, most well-known as the founder of The Congress of Racial Equality (CORE) whose tactics were the backbone of The Civil Rights Movement. Having been influenced by the passive, non-violent resistance techniques of Mohandas K. Gandhi of India, Farmer imparted the principles of non-violent resistance to his disciples drilling into them the error of using aggression in The Civil Rights Movement

A HARBINGER OF CHANGE: ELDRIDGE CLEAVER

Eldridge Cleaver endorsed Ronald Reagan for President in both 1980 and in 1984. He also ran for office as a Republican against Ron Dellums in 1984, and against Alan Cranston in 1986.
