Black GOP Candidates to Watch in 2009-10
By HHR | September 4th, 2009 | Category: Campaigns, Featured, HHR Contributors | 12 commentsBy Richard Ivory
Below is a recent nationwide compilation by HHR Blog of black Republican candidates who are seeking a run for elected office this year. While there numbe
rs are small in comparison to Democrats there willingness to pursue public service is a testament to each individual. Of course as someone who has worked on many minority Republican campaigns such races can be the most grueling of sports.
The attacks and smears thrown upon these candidates can often be nasty and down right harsh. A candidate may be accused if being a pawn, a lawn jockey, an Uncle Tom that’s just during the exploratory committee. I’m always amused that the same left that is always “alarmed” that there aren’t any minority Republican are often the first to tar and feather one should they magically appear.
For all there hollow and vindictive rhetoric demanding answers as to why the GOP is not diverse it is they who lose should such a reality come to fore. Believe me when I say this the last thing the left wants is a conservative version of Maxine Waters!!
So, perhaps a simple suggestion might be if you really, really want to piss off a liberal is to donate and support minority Republican candidates. After you make a donation sit back and watch liberals panic should one ever get elected. As one conservative culture critic put it “Liberals claim to want to give a hearing to other views, but then are shocked and offended to discover that there are other views.”

I hope most get elected and help turn around the current Republican tone.
And the best way to piss off a liberal is by speaking with real facts.
Two thumbs up to these decent candidates.
Are u kidding me. How can any of you support a party that promoted “Barack the magic negro”. I can’t believe there is an entire site devoted to uncle toms. How do any of you live with yourselves. Better yet lets see how many of these seemingly nice people actually make it in the Rubblican party.. What part of these people sh1tting on you didn’t you understand. This whole site is very disturbing.
Name me one hip hop artisit beside ” The young conservatives” that are rebublican. I came to this site becaue I didn’t believe this actually existed. What a joke.
Two thumbs up to these decent candidates….
KARL, KARL, KARL…..Oh ye of little faith….the folks on here are actual bonafide Cons, and come hell or high water, (Katrina) their gonna stick to their “FreeMarkets fix everything” Mantra! All the while getting sold down the river! hehe… [It was the defense of Free Markets that kept Lunch Counters Segregated, no?] Shoot they still insist that MLK jr would’ve remained a Repub even after Nixon used the Southern Strategy agin ‘em!! They seem to have an aversion to the current facts that DixieCrats fled in droves to the waiting arms of the Republican Party, but hey, its the party of Lincoln Y’all!! bwaaaa haaa haaa…. I’ve been reading their misguided, how did he call it, “plaintive wail” for some time now and i’m still not sure who is more pitiful, Log Cabin Republicans or these “types”…..
But i have since just reduced it to SCOREBOARD – a Black POTUS: Dems- 1
Repubs – <0, Less than Zero, not now, not ever, NEVER!!
Of course this posting won’t stay up, its too brutaly honest!
Why can’t a black man or woman support freedom and liberty without being labeled an uncle tom? why is that so hard to grasp, true conservatives want to conserve liberty, that include someone succeeding, Democrats are really the ones who want to hold minorities back because without the poor who will support them? How will they get elected? I want Blacks in America to be equal and successfull, not held back. Isn’t that why the civil war was fought? Anyone in this nation should have the freedom to succeed and be rewarded for it without there success being taken away. Socialism is not freedom. As a hispanic American myself, I want to say that I love ya’ll black folks and fight for you, us, everyone. We are all in this together. Look at who is using the tactics to divide us,,, Democrats. Look who is trying to unite us, Republicans. I know there are some republicans who are fake and selfish, but they do not represent the idea. You do not abandon the ‘idea’ of America, just because of them, you clean it up. We need to stand together not point fingers at each other, Much love to all of you. God bless
[It was the defense of Free Markets that kept Lunch Counters Segregated, no?] – Kurtz
Kurtz,
Actually it was free markets that de-segregated lunch counters and everything else. When black people flexed their economic power and stopped spending money with racists, then racist had to either change their policies or go out of business. Boycotts only work in a free market system. Maybe you should think a little more critically next time. The city of Montgemory had to change their bus policy, because the largest concentration of their ridership decided not to ride.
I guess the amazing question is why would the same people that experienced the Tuskegee Experiment put the so much faith in the same government that treated black men like lab rats to see the effects of syphilis on the human body. You shouldn’t be voting to give that government more power over your life and definitely not your health care. You should be fighting with every bit of your soul to keep this government’s powers in check and limited.
I wish all of these candidates the best of luck. There is an article on National Review Online on the chances of Republicans in various house races. I didn’t scrutinize every candidate but I don’t believe any of these congressional candidates were mentioned.
Maybe a few of these people will make the author apologize for overlooking them.
I think Mr. Frazier sounds too much like Obama. Not in substance, but style.
Hey guys, you forgot one. Charles Lollar is running for the US House in MD-05:

Pastor Stephen Broden of Fair Park Bible Church in Dallas is running for the House of Representatives seat held by Eddie Bernice Johnson. He’s awesome.
