SHERMICHAEL SINGLETON OP-ED: Illogical Optimism

Democrats have had what I would like to call, ‘illogical optimism’.  Democratic Leadership including President Obama has continuously been optimistic about the “state of America”, although it is clear that things aren’t getting better but remain stagnant.

Everything has not played out exactly how they said it would, i.e. health care reform. Their illogical approach to critical issues is disheartening, they seem to be oblivious to the trials and tribulations that the American people are facing.

To be vivid and honest there hasn’t been much success that has come from the Obama Administration and fellow Democrats.  The decision to bailout wall street  in the ‘bank bailout’, was against what the American people wanted, health care reform has been a BIG failure and the decision to close Guantanamo Bay and move  more than 100 terrorist to U.S. soil has caused great controversy.

President Obama and fellow Democrats are laboring under some rather serious misapprehensions.  The illogical optimism of the Obama Administration seems not to realize, either, that, the American people are not immediately concerned with whether Obama is an honest or a “man of change,” as he puts it; the American people care about realistic results, small and large, and Democrats in Washington seem oblivious to them, small and large.

Recently the president has given some protestations about his desire to improve upon his poor performance thitherto, he has not made since, any attempt whatsoever to improve.  It was solely because of his obvious disregard of his duties to the American people, that they are becoming unwilling to listen to complicated irrational optimistic tales about the future. After all, once the president and fellow Democrats had a super majority, any account of how they thought they were going to do things automatically became moot.

Democrats may find such observations upsetting because they wound their vanity, but rather than attempt to ingratiate themselves further with the American people, I recommend they exercise restraint and swallow this rebuke in silence.  I would remiss in not saying that Democrats have misplaced their concern.

Unwittingly Democrats have shown that they are not ready to accept responsibilities for their failures. They have blamed Republicans for placing fear in the eyes and hearts of the American people, when in fact the American people see their absurd optimistic goals for what they really are.

Obama and fellow Democrats would do well to listen to what the American people want because their logic won’t take them far.

The corrupted business, technological, and psycho-therapeutic jargon so prevalent in our society today has no place in the world of politics, there is no room for wishful thinking. It is one thing to have optimism but to have specious optimism is a recipe for disaster.

Washington current lack of cohesion and constancy under Democratic Leadership does disservice to the needs of the people. The American people seek direction, but it seems as if it is not going to be attained under the Democratic leadership or the current administration.
