The Chicago blogger and centrist Republican “Afrocity” speaks out on racism and accusation of racism by Obama supporters.
Dear Ms.Afrocity
Hello, my name is Kevin Howell, from Ft.Wayne, Indiana. I read, for the second time, your very interesting comments concerning your conversion to the Republican ranks. I am impressed with your honesty and the clarity of your thinking. I’m also interested in getting to know YOU as a person. My background is the following: I ‘m a graduate of Howard University-BA.US History, 1980(Class of 78′), 10 year veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Pro-Life, and active in local/state Republican Party affairs, and Very Much Impressed when a Sister like you can “tell it as you see it” with such potency.
Now to my point, once again, I would like to get to know more about you. Please email me as your schedule permits, I look forward to receiving it ASAP.
With Warm Regards
Kevin Howell
LOL, goodness! I guess you were not expecting that. I’m impressed as well but not quite the same way since I am that typical little old white lady in tennis shoes everyone laughs about. I’m not a Republican. I’m not a Democrat either, although in Ft. Wayne, it seems most of the people I know are. Big surprise, seeing the way the local registration numbers break down. I don’t think I know any of the people who get out there and make fools of themselves with those signs, etc. Maybe they are the ones writing those letters to the editor that make my eyes cross. They are always hitting someone over the head with a bible or showing their lack of rational thought processes, no matter what the subject.
I do have problems with President Obama. Not as a person, not as black or half black or even as a democrat. It is his agenda that disturbs me. All during the campaign he made promises that went against all reason, because of the time it would take or the money it would require and other things as well. That is showing now. I don’t remember his exact words recently, but what I do remember is those who don’t agree will just have to quietly sit aside while he puts everything right. And the true believers shout down anyone who trys to object with accusations of Racist. I think most of the problem is inexperience combined with more than a little bit of attitude. It makes me angry. I want the President to have a term that will go into history as admirable. After all, he is not just the black President he is the President.
Thank you for your video. It gives me hope that some people out there are really thinking about the objections in a way that is untainted with racist attitudes on both sides. Some may not be valid objections but not the way the true believers claim. It also gives me hope that some day racial attitudes will be as uncommon as objections over shoe size. I know I won’t see an end to it in my lifetime but perhaps it will come for my children whom I hope I taught that skin color does not show character. Actions show it. I like your character. Sandy
