Claims of Racism & Young GOP Candidates Facebook Page

Today HHR posted an article on the events concerning a contrevorsy on Audras Facebook page. To be fair we wanted to hear from Audry to get her side of the story and here it is.

Arkansas Times has more information : Race and Young Repubs

Audra Responds :

audrashay2 Yesterday on Facebook, an unfortunate incident occurred. An individual posted two comments on my Facebook wall, the first comment arguing against big government and the second filled with racially charged comments. I responded supporting the individual’s first post, to continue the fight against big government spending.

I was not aware of the racial comments until sometime later, when a third individual brought it to my attention. I immediately deleted the derogatory and outright disgusting comments and subsequently posted a statement on my Facebook Status stating that in no way, shape or form are the comments posted by other individuals a reflection of me or my beliefs as an American, a Veteran, a Mother or a Candidate.

I do not, now would I ever, condone that type of language or behavior. Unfortunately, my opponents have now spun a web of misconception and untruths, desperately trying to paint me as a racists. Nothing could be farther from the truth. In fact, I have made it part of my Young Republican life to ensure that we did not just focus on outreach, but inclusion. Under my leadership as Chairman of the State of Louisiana’s Young Republicans, we were able to raise $90,000 for a minority outreach media campaign.

Also under my leadership as Louisiana Chairman we brought the largest minority delegation to the YRNF Convention in 2007. It is a disgrace that these types of political attacks are taking place and once again, it proves that my opponents will stoop to the lowest levels to steal this election from the jaws of victory. Our Team is one of honor and integrity. We take this service to heart and will not allow others to tarnish our reputations. If you have any questions or concerns about this matter or any other matters, please email, call or Facebook message me. I’m always available.

  1. This display, by both the YR Candidate and the other guy, is lunacy and praised racism! It does not matter if this guy “Eric” was referring to blacks, whites, Middle Easterners, or any other race - this is inexcusable behavior. The fact that Ms. Shay praised these remarks is the epitome of what I call “accepted racism”.
“Accepted Racism” is racist behavior that the ‘popular culture’ or society accepts - regardless of, and devoid of, reason. Absolutely NO racism should be accepted by anyone, at anytime. Racism is yet another element that divides us as a nation. Until we can simply see people as Men, Women, & Children - not Black Men, Arab Women, Asian Children, etc - We will continue to be divided as a nation.
Unfortunately we see the world through Human Eyes - which history proves are judgemental, hate bearing eyes. We MUST continue the fight to end this behavior. Use the weapons of words and information. Use compassion and character. Defeating hate with hate does not help - just destroys.

As simply Men & Women, we can change the world for the better. We must before the world changes us.

  2. Unfortunately, not many Republicans are racists, but all racists vote Republican.

Over on Freerepublic they’re not going to see anything wrong with those comments and the circular firing squad will soon be in action.

  3. On my word and honor, this is not doctored, aside from adding the box to emphasize the pertinent portion of the conversation. I took the screenshot, and for my comments I was defriended. I would like to believe that she indeed was responding to the first comment and “didn’t see” the second, but it’s hard to believe due to the 8 minutes between his second comment and her reply.

  4. Wow. I hope and pray racism like this doesn’t go unpunished and that whoever votes in this election has a choice other than Ms. Shay. This is definitely not something Republicans (or any political party or society for that matter) needs.

  5. Unreal. I look forward to the day when the Young GOPs drops this “class” of people. Sad for the rest of the “good kids” in the party.

  6. Does it get more blatant than this? If the Young Republicans pick this girl as their leader they will validate everything I already know about them: that they are scary racists who have no business running this country!

  7. Before we accuse this women of being racist we should wait for her reply. Perhaps she has a reason for not rebuking the person early on. I will say that the guy Eric is definalty a racist and I would not want him as a Facebook buddie.

  8. I’m not sure why this story was buried, or why showing only Audra’s statement is “being fair”. Audra’s statement is in no way an apology, in fact she just puts blame on the folks that pointed out what she admits were racially charged comments. *That* is manipulative political maneuvering, or at least a try at it. I cannot believe she’s turned blame against the people who were alarmed by this, rather than apologizing for her mistake (at best).

Given her communication style, or lack thereof, I will not be voting for her as YRNF chairman. She’s either okay with racist jokes, or her only defense is that she doesn’t read the things she comments on, and shame on us for being offended when she seemingly agrees with terrible words. This is not okay. And this is not how a leader handles communication.

  9. When Republicans stop lying about the disaster the last eight yeas have been, I might consider listening to them. Until then, I enjoy their delusional comments, their blatant fantasies, and their incompetent attempts to discredit others as much as I enjoy taking LSD and sticking bamboo under my fingernails.

  10. This is an outrage!! This woman should resign her post immediately in shame for openly admitting she is a racist! And admitting that she had poor leadership skills.
This kind of behavior should not be tolerated and people who condone this should be held accountable. At the next elections, She will not get my vote nor the votes of delegates from my county!! Lets get her out!!!

  11. “Until we can simply see people as Men, Women, & Children - not Black Men, Arab Women, Asian Children, etc - We will continue to be divided as a nation.’

You mean until all of us non whites fully assimilate to the superior, proper, euro cultural standard. There is nothing wrong with seeing people as different, it’s seeing them as lesser on inferior for being different. It’s not uncommon for racist conservatives to act as if they are color blind at the same time coming off as if somehow multiculturalism is dividing this nation. As a matter of fact multiculturalism is constantly being attacked by most of your main conservative think tanks and by racist’s in the Media such as Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, Bill O’Reilly, conservative am radio talk show host, and some of your most influential writers. And oddly enough they all talk that.. “we are color blind, all people should be seen the same” b.s., When they are racist or racially antagonistic to the core.

Your party brainwashes lower middle class and middle class whites into believing blacks and other minorities are stealing their jobs through affirmative action and mexicans area threat the great american way of life through both illegal immigration and non full assimilation to the superior american/euro, christian culture at the hands of legal immigrants who do not fully abandon their culture and become WASP’s.

Your party is the biggest racial divider in this country. It’s the christian conservative movement that teaches that homosexual lifestyles are evil by nature and a threat to the American family through bible sanctioned hate speech. It’s the republican party that paints the poor as lazy leaches of hard working Americans tax dollars. It’s the republican party that lies about the nature of public assistance, leaving out the fact it keeps families from being homeless, kids from going to school hungry which hinders the ability to learn, painting a black face on welfare when at the time white woman made up the majority of welfare recipients. Remember Reagan’s racist “welfare queens” comment?

Your strategy to pull in more non whites to the GOP will never work out for you. Everything I’v read on this site about the issues that effect us are pretty much from people who have know idea what they are talking about. Your just parroting this or that study, or something you read from a conservative writer, or the same old conservative ideologies that tend to turn us off from your party.

You have problems connecting to us because we don’t know what you’re talking about because you have no idea what you’re talking about. You have no clue about the depth complexities of poverty, you can never see the full picture because you only want to see the small parts of the picture that you can pin on liberal policies. I read a piece on this site about crack/cocaine laws and it read like a school report.

You don’t know us, our experiences, or our situation. I grew up in a single parent home, on public assistance, in poor areas, like most of my friends, around crack, prostitution, drug/Alcohol abuse, did time as a juvenile, been though the system, and I can tell you that you guys have no idea what you are talking about. You’re so called solutions are just the same old standard conservative idea’s that are part of the problem in the first place. Only difference is the age of those doing the parroting. Some of the articles look like they were pulled straight from any number of corporate funded, special interest conservative think tanks. I really haven’t seen any original thoughts or ideas.

And stop exploiting Hip Hop culture to bring in voters to your party.

  12. Open letter to Audra Shay

    Audra,

I was searching the Internet when I came across an article in the Arkansas Times (www.arktimes.com) about racial comments you recently made on your Facebook page. As someone with Jewish heritage, and who has two biracial children (white/Latino,) I am thoroughly disgusted by your comments.

My grandfather fought in World War II against Nazi Germany. He was not only fighting for his country, but against intolerance based on race, religion and ethnicity. As a Jewish American, it took a lot of courage to step on German soil, but he knew he must stand up for what is right. I have thought long and hard about it, and I must also stand up against racial intolerance, by demanding that you resign your position as YRNF Vice Chairman-at-large. I watched scandal after scandal surround your campaign, but this is far too serious for any of us to sit back and tolerate.

Audra, you have embarrassed our organization, our party, and you have let down your friends by participating in bigotry. This behavior must not, and will not be tolerated.

    Sincerely,
    Todd Goberville
    Florida National Committeeman

  13. Why does this blog print a nonstory regarding an idiot’s posting on Facebook,
when the real story is her opponent, Rachel Hoff has a history of voter fraud. Yes, that’s right Rachel Hoff was CONVICTED of forging signatures on absentee ballots.

    That is the real story.

  14. I shall take a moment to respond to some of the posts that followed my original. It seems that my divisional factors, Human Eyes, and Fighting Hate with Hate ALL proved to be accurate thanks to Jjoe, rev, and JasonChavez. I would like to thank you for validating my statements.

To Jjoe: You stated “Unfortunately, not many Republicans are racists, but all racists vote Republican.” From this, you display one perception that may or may not be true. That stament appears as though you are admitting to being a racist!!! How else would you know that “ALL RACISTS ARE REPUBLICANS”? And how would you know that “NOT MANY REPUBLICANS ARE RACISTS”? This seems to be information and ‘facts’ that only a racist would be wise to. Simply being a Republican would not give you insight into the thinking and voting habits of racists. But being a racist would….
I am an intelligent individual, and I am making an educated guess that you are NOT a racist. But you MUST CAREFULLY THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU SAY!!! It is comments like these that ignite firestorms of damage.
Finally - Joe, where in my comment did I admit party affiliation? I did not. My last advice to you is this: in November 2010 - vote for a candidate, not by which letter is after his/her name, but by the character, values, and leadership of the candidate. Remember - ALL of us are to blame for the State Of The Union! Not the GOP or Dems. We all are responsible. Congress works for us, and despite poor performance these people still have jobs. That is our fault.

To “rev”: Your statement was void of intelligence and productivity. Just another hate-driven statement punctuated with feeble metaphors. It is actions and remarks like yours that are a waste - for us and you. A waste for us to read, and a waste of your - and our - time. Grow up, please.

Finally, “JasonChaves”: Re-read my post. Where does it say that I am a Republican? Or white?? Or which party I affiliate with - if any? You, sir, showed your lack of common sense and intelligence with you hate-laced soapbox speech. I made a simple call for us as Americans to become unite in the common cause of reclaiming our society and nation before they collapse.
You have somehow misconstrued that into various false notions. And you did to me the EXACT thing that you accused me of doing — you acted like you knew something about me. You “classified” me without having ever met or seen me. When in fact I put NONE of my personal political views, commentary, affiliations or beliefs. You have NO clue about my upbringing and background, so how can you judge that and pretend you know anything about me??? And your upbringing seems that it would make you a strong, triumphant person for overcoming the socioeconomic detriments that you faced.

…. Lastly…. I am not even a Republican. So your incessant, belligerant ranting was all for naught. …Another waste of emotion and - dare I say - passion. Use these qualities for something good instead of falsely berating the wrong person/people.

In closing. It is truly disheartening that such displays of hate, anger, and disdain were shown by those reading a story about precisely that. This shows the sad, dire situation in which our society resides. Hate breeds hate. And unfortunately, this phrase was further validated. We must break the vicious cycle of Fighting Hate With Hate. And fast!

  15. “Unfortunately, not many Republicans are racists, but all racists vote Republican”

Joe wasn’t paying much attention then as the left called Condi and Colin everything from sell-out, to Aunt Jemima, to house-nigger(s), and so on. Won’t even mention what they call Clarence Thomas or the vitriol that is spewed against many black conservative bloggers.

  16. Members of the National Committee,

I am sorry to take your time with another email, but I feel I can add a fresh firsthand perspective to this situation and want to make sure everyone is fully informed as it is extremely important. If we do not thoroughly vet this situation it reflects very poorly upon Young Republicans (if you are not familiar with what I’m referring to, please see: http://www.arktimes.com/blogs/arkansasblog/2009/07/race_and_young_repubs.aspx). Audra Shay’s response to several media articles and blog posts which expressed concern regarding her remarks on Facebook have troubled me. Audra’s response claims that she was “responding to the first post, to continue the fight against big government spending.” This is one of the worst attempted cover ups I have ever seen. Let me tell you why:

Firstly, Eric Piker’s first post, as you can see by this screen shot http://www.arktimes.com/assets/documents/audrashayfacebook.jpg, is not about big government spending. Secondly, Audra made her comments eight minutes after Eric’s racist comment, saying, “You tell em Eric! lol”. Also if Audra really did find these remarks to be “outright disgusting,” then why was her response to immediately de-friend those who made statements against Eric’s blatant racism? I was blocked for stating that Eric’s racist comment was “NOT OKAY. And it is not funny.” Please take a moment look at the entire screenshot linked above, and ask yourself: which comment would lead you to de-friend someone, mine, or Eric’s?

If you look at the screenshot posted on HipHopRepublican.com, http://hiphoprepublican.com/wp-content/uploads/audrashayfacebook-21.jpg, you will see that more than twelve hours later, long after she removed me as a friend, Eric Piker was STILL posting racists remarks saying “…if your ass is black don’t let the sun set on it in a southern town…” Even that comment didn’t cause Audra to remove Eric Piker as a friend. It seems it was only after the media started calling the next day that she knew she HAD to remove him.

I also want to address one other very serious accusation in Audra’s statement. She told the media that this was a “desperate” attempt by her opponent and painted herself as a victim. I can set the record straight firsthand, and this is why I felt the responsibility to email you. What happened did not come from Rachel Hoff or anyone on her ticket. The comments came from me and other offended people who were Audra’s Facebook friends. No one told me to comment, nor did anyone force Audra to make her comments. I saw something that was morally wrong, and as a conservative I took it upon myself as an individual to stand up, and I do not regret it at all. I was attacked for wanting better for Young Republicans - in my lifetime of work for the Republican Party I have never been accused of being a “RINO”, until now, by Audra’s supporters.

I continue to hold that stating “You go get ‘em” and “LOL” to racist remarks are not acceptable for YRs. Her continued inappropriate responses to the situation and utter lack of an apology are quite disconcerting. I do not want to see infighting as we are all on the same team ultimately, but this is unacceptable especially from any of our elected officers. Even despite the red flags of spin pointed out above, and giving Audra the benefit of the doubt regarding racism, at the very best this was extremely poorly handled by turning it into a political attack on people completely uninvolved and by showing allegiance to those making racist statements while choosing to squarely turn her back on those speaking against racism.

All in all, this is a plea to my fellow National Committee Members to look at how this was handled and decide in your own heart and mind if this was appropriate, and if this is how we want to be represented to our country.

    Thanks for your time,

  17. Is this site for real? Hip Hop Republicans? Wow. Immediately, I wonder how this site can separate not only perceived racial bigotry of the Republican party but the real policy choices that have historically been antagonistic to poor people and minorities — and then embrace hip hop.

After reading a few posts that cast about strawmen like ‘the left’ and ‘conservatives’ I’m left wondering who is behind this? The real fight isn’t between ‘left’ and ‘right’ or ‘black’ and ‘white’ , but this site would have readers believe it is.

    Hoss: What is the ‘left’?

  18. You know we don’t buy it right?

  19. [...] down the use of the language, as did a Republican who sent the screenshot of the page to me. A Republican blog has picked up the thread. It said criticism of Obama is one thing, but “using racist words [...]

  20. I think Audra should step down and do the honorable thing by admitting she found humor in her “friend’s” overtly racist comments and behavior. Often, we like to believe that only our “friends” see what we write or experience on facebook, but this is a grave error that I think Audra fell dangerously into. That level of electronic comfortability amongst our social networking circle can cause us to do and say things that we would otherwise leave for idle conversation amongst confidants and our close circle of friends and not amongst colleagues, frenemies and college roommates. While facebook can be a powerful politicking tool, it can also be, as we have seen here, someone’s tragic undoing. Being rich, white and republican can be argued to have certain advantages that even wealthy, hip hop republicans (LOL) would not have access to. From the looks of it, this woman will be able to use those qualities as well as her social capital to make it through this firestorm, albeit to the dismay of many. I’m sure a few years from now this bubble-headed republican beauty queen will be like the second coming of Palin and be governor of some ignorant state where they are short on brain cells and long on bbq beef brisket.

  21. hoss says: “Joe wasn’t paying much attention then as the left called Condi and Colin everything from sell-out, to Aunt Jemima, to house-nigger(s), and so on.”

Say Hoss, I’m sure you’ll have no trouble offering up a couple of citations supporting your statement. Don’t worry, I won’t hold my breath waiting for them…

  22. Why did you “de-friend” the two people who called Piker out on the comment and not Piker himself? Sounds like another load of B.S. from the B.S. factory known as the Republican Party!

Keep up the great work guys. Democrats won’t even have to campaign in 2012 to win at this rate!
    YEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

  23. Hey Hoss, sweet name. Do you have a single reference you can show us where “the left” (sounds like a pretty large group to me, since we are taking about the Republican party not “the right”) calls Condi Rice and/or Colin Powell any of those names?

    I’ll wait….

  24. That’s one old looking Young Republican.

  25. “Shay now claims that she was only responding to Piker’s first comments, not having noticed the second. The eight-minute gap between the second post and her response strains the credibility of this defense.” from daily beast http://www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-stories/2009-07-06/new-gop-racist-headache/

  26. I am deeply offended by the overt bigotry and the casual way both Audra Shay and Eric Piker can be dismissive of their own actions. Fortunately they have outed themselves as insensitive trash and anyone associating with them in the political spectrum will also be tarred as racist bigots.

  27. You are not a young Republican.

  28. What does everyone expect? She learned from her elder Republican role models, like Rush Limbaugh!

The fact that these conservatives can’t distinguish between “their”, “there” and “they’re” should be enough to make liberals realize how uneducated and consequently stupid their existence is. They’re Republican for a reason.

  29. The actions of republicans…. the INCESSANT racist jokes and remarks republicans make on the internet… let everyone know just what the republican party is all about.

  30. Maybe she needs to hire Jeff Gannon as her spokesperson on all her Facebook pages. Then she’ll have all her Republican talking points and responses correct without any need for thought or values because she obviously can’t even stop to think or feel what “coon” means before she laughs about it. If she is the epitome of Young Republican leadership then how vacuous and insensitive are her backers?

  31. Sorry Audra but admit it that you found humor is a racist tirade on your facebook page and encouraged it. I find it hard to believe that you did not read the comments posted. What eve work you have done in the past I’m sure you did it for your own agenda and political gain. Not that you actually care about what us minorities have to go through on a daily basis in a society that still constantly demeans us every chance it gets. No effort you make can hide your true colors so just give it up.

  32. What a “young” repugnican? Looks 20 years older than that Palin woman…

  33. Nice way to deflect by pointing the finger at your “opponent.” Like they’re responsible for your support of a racist statement. Your cover-up is pathetic and if you had any decency or respect for people of another culture and race, you would step down from your post and also try visiting several Civil Rights museums. Even worse, you, like many Republican officials, these days, when caught red-handed, lie and say you didn’t do something and talk down to the public as if we’re a bunch of idiot children. Just fess up that what you did was wrong, start the process of correcting it and let’s move on. No more bs. You’re doing more harm to your own party and to many good young and old Republicans alike, as well as setting a bad example for humanity in general.

  34. This is just another example of someone caught being themselves. It should be plain to anyone who was a child of the sixties as I am that the person who wrote this on her facebook page and Miss. Shay herself are racist or at the least have racist veiws. No matter how well they try to hide it they are found out because they just can’t help themselves. I have personely dealt with people like this all my 50 years and still do to this day. If you disagree with our Presidents way of doing business then just say so intelligently not with a obviously racist comment. When are some people going to wake up to the fact that we now have a Black President. No matter what color his mother, black will always be his dominant color. Everyone must learn to accept this fact of life. I believe that once this happens we all will be better off as Americans.

  35. I’m new to this, but this string of responses makes pretty plain why the Republican Party is in trouble. And to think we can’t even blame it on the “old guard” and place our hope in the YR. Not much to hope for when — according to these posts anyway — such stellar choices to head the YR are offered.

You can either vote for someone supposedly convicted of voter fraud (according to “Fred”) or someone who is not only obviously racist but not smart enough to hide it .

And she is not only not smart enough to hide it on Facebook in general but not smart enough to hide it when she is running for something! And then when she’s called out on it, she’s not only not smart or quick enough to figure out how to minimize the damage immediately, but she manages to compound the damage by defriending the two people who call her on it (Perhaps thinking they were the only two on her friend list that would question it? Hmmm, is this another point against her potential intelligence OR her knowledge of and experience with YR?). And even after taking 12 hours to think about a response, she can’t even come up with something that helps her! (I don’t mean to suggest anyone would believe an apology after that long, but with 12 hours to consider it, someone with at least as much sense as a pile of rocks could come up with something better than pointing a self-righteous finger in the wrong direction, couldn’t they?)

What’s even funnier is that everyone is only getting excited by what “Eric” posted because it included a word that is considered a racial slur (no mention of the opinion expressed). Apparently the very next post from “Jill Catterton” saying “obama faces=welfare” is not racist because it doesn’t use an actual slur. Or at least not one that anyone has heard yet. I’m sure everyone thought Jill was pretty clever for getting around it by using the President’s name is such a hilarious way! No racist problem there, huh?!

I’ve just gotta say, it’s not just Jill. Y’all are hilarious! Good luck to you because that’s the only thing that will possibly get the YR out of this swamp they’ve followed the OR into.

  36. It is said that while not all Republicans are racists all racists are Republican. Here is a fact that perhaps some of you don’t know. Hilter was a right winger.

  37. This lady is a disgrace to human race. She should have been mindful to the fact that whatever is written on her page which she does not swiftly disown and ridicule by default she agrees with it. It is wrong for her to claim that she did not see the other post considering the time factor. Why did she de-register those who pointed out the comments not the person who wrote it? Though I am not American I think the republican right wing and suicide bombers have a lot in common. Probably the only difference is that the other one can not withstand the thought of killing oneself. Its really a shame we have all these people who makes a world not a better place to live in. Shay should resign and dedicate her time in teaching children the dangers of hatred based on racial differences.

  38. I am a former republican, of the Ron Reagan type. Let us not also forget that the democrats have kept minorities opressed for over 150 years plus.

  39. It is unfortunate that, in 2009, after the election of the first Black President of the United States, that these old, antiquated attitudes remain. I guess the education system in our country is truly lacking. I would submit that Audra Shay is an educated person, having risen to the post of being a candidate for the National Young Republicans caucus chair. I would also submit that Eric Piker, just based upon not only the content of his posts, but the structure and grammar of the posts, is not very well educated. Racism makes ignoramouses of the educated and uneducated. I always thought that the more education one obtains, that education would make them understand how stupid racist attitudes and predjudices are. Education should enlighten one to see how thin those thoughts and actions are. But, alas, there is no “trickle down” theory when it comes to education vs. racism. A bigot will be a bigot no matter how much, “book learnin” they obtain.

  40. One more question. What is it that people like Audra Shay and Eric Piker fear? That the “American” way of life will disappear? Are they longing for the “good ole days” where minorities knew their place? Life is not static; it moves along, sometimes fast, sometimes slow, but it changes. The world is a much different place than it was 10 years ago, a mere eyeblink in time. Would Ms. Shay, being a woman, like America to return to the days when she couln’t vote, own property, have a job without the consent of her husband or any other man? To some, those were “the good ole days”

  41. i think that if the republikkkan party TRULY wants to be the voice of america, then it MUST deal with its own issues of racial intolerance. both real and percieved. the simple fact of the matter is that there are about 40 million african americans in this country. and there are even more latino-americans in this country. if you then add the asian population, east indians and so-on, its is clear to see that one in every three americans are of “minority” status. that being said, i remember a huge difference between the obama campaign rallies vs mcains campaign rallies.(politics aside) EVERY time the camera would pan the audience at an obama rally, YOU SAW AMERICA! blacks whites, asians ect, whereas everytime the camera showed mcain supporters, you only saw ONE part of america. it is a little insane to think that in this day and age, one would think they can qualify for national office, and only feel that they only have to reflect to the concerns of a specific demographic, to the exclusion of others. why are there not more minorites in the GOP? to me it is quite simple. the republican party has historicly failed to be inclusive in a major way, AND have been historicly unsympathatic to the diverse needs of that demographic. and when you add the reality that some of the most vile and inhumane treatment of minorities has come from the hands of republicans, you end up with a system that only appears to administer justice to some. furthermore the young lady stated the her group has raised 90 grand for some minority outreach program, but once again, given the track record of the republicans on these matters, that is not enough. republicans must seperate themselves from a past where not only is bigotry openly tolerated, but it is the order of the day. for instance, when rush limbaugh goes on one of his drug induced racial tirades, key republicans should clearly, and pubicly denounce the rhetoric, and make it clear that he does NOT represent the gop interest as a whole. when peter king makes idiotic statements about the death of an american icon, while MANY of the world is still in mourning, republicans need to fully denounce that foolishness in no uncertain terms. micheal jackson was never convicted in a court of law FOR ANYTHING. and though he paid millions to the family of his accuser, let us not forget that the catholic church has paid tens, if not hundreds of millions to families also, BUT whenever the pope garners worldwide media attention, i dont hear peter king ranting and raving about what is quite possibly the largest international pedophile group in the world.( to all of those of catholic faith, please understand that this is not a dissrespect of your beleifs. but there is enough well documented evidence to prove my statements are accurate.) if the republican party are racists, then they have no business being in charge of anything! but if they claim they are not, then their actions must reflect that. when some black and white kids get into a school fight in jenna, and the republican dominated system wants to charge the black kids with attempted murder, and not even arrest the white kids, republicans across the country must take a stand against this type of racial nonsense OR be labeled as part of it. the republican has been linked to too much racial injustice, to simply say that they are not racists. they must prove it with action.

  42. also to cassie wallender, i truly commend you! thank you for putting righteousness and plain human decency above politics. this is an exzample that needs to be apllied by both republicans and democrats.

  43. Audra’s response is a poor attempt to “spin” what happened…. by blatantly lying about it, while pointing the finger of blame in a bogus direction.

There is evidence of what transpired, as well as the first-person account of Cassie Wallender. The narrative with the chronology of events is quite different than the statement posted by Audra. Anyone with active brain cells should be able to see through the smokescreen Ms. Shay is trying to put up.

But it’s difficult to defend what might be a natural tendency of embracing her inner racist.

And there is no doubt she is a racist.

She de-friended the two people who called her out on the posted vile comments, and let the REAL FRIEND, Eric Piker, stay on so he could post more offensive comments 12 hours later:

“…the last time i checked i was a good ole southern boy…and if yur ass is black dont let the sun set on it in a southern town”

And for anyone who thinks Audra didn’t know what the word “coon” meant in Mr. Piker’s original racist post… if there was any chance at all that were true, she was properly informed of the meaning by Cassie Wallender, who wrote the following, 1 hour and 46 minutes after Audra’s “You tell em Eric! lol”:

“Okay, why is this okay? I just looked it up.

‘It comes from the term baracoons (a cage), where they used to place Africans, who were waiting to be sent to America to be slaves.’

THIS IS NOT OKAY. And it’s not funny.”

You can see what Sean L. Conner’s immediate response was here:

Now ask yourself these important questions… if Audra Sigler Shay, as she states in her response, “immediately deleted the derogatory and outright disgusting comments and subsequently posted a statement on my Facebook Status stating that in no way, shape or form are the comments posted by other individuals a reflection of me or my beliefs as an American, a Veteran, a Mother or a Candidate,” then…

1.) Why did she DE-FRIEND Cassandra Wallen and Sean L. Conner, who were themselves offended by the “outright disgusting” comments, and who both posted their strong feelings against them?

2.) Why was Eric Piker, the person who posted the racist comments, STILL A FRIEND after Cassandra and Sean were removed from Audra’s Friend list? Mr. Piker was able to post the “if your ass is black” comment 3 hours and 16 minutes after Audra stated “It was not right nor appropriate to talk that way.”

BTW: According to Cassie, Eric was still Audra’s “Friend” for many hours after that crude and threatening comment, until the media maelstrom kicked into high gear. That’s when she evidently realized he had become a liability to her, so she finally let him go.

3.) Why did Audra DELETE ALL OF HER SOCIAL MEDIA ACCOUNTS, after an unflattering investigation turned up MORE RACIST and INSENSITIVE COMMENTS written by AUDRA HERSELF?

    http://www.thedailybeast.com/blogs-and-stories/2009-07-10/the-gops-young-hatemonger/?cid=bsa:mostpopular1

Was she unable to “scrub away” all of her ignorant, intolerant, and hate-filled rants?

Did she decide to just throw in the towel altogether on Social Media, because it shows too closely who she really is?

Young Republicans have a serious decision to make on July 11.

Who will they elect, now that the true character of one of its most prominent candidates has been revealed?

Will thoughtful, deliberative steps be taken to be less tolerant of those who are intolerant, and more inclusive of
those who traditionally have not been included?

Will ballots be cast for a leader who will help revitalize and reinvigorate the Party, with honor and integrity and principled participation?

Will the voters decide to send a loud and clear message of what is acceptable and what is not?

Or will they just let the bigots and the racists and the small-minded manipulators take control and doom the Republican Party to the land of exile for decades to come?

    Please decide wisely.

    Kat

    Sure.

Care to cover up anymore of your bullshit?

There are multiple copies of this floating around the net.

  45. Is anybody surprised that she won?
