A Letter To The John McCain
By rivory | November 9th, 2008 | Category: General |Boy, I was pulling for you. I thought this nation would be greatly rewarded for having a man of your caliber in the White House. I thought nations abroad would run to talk to you because they knew you weren’t afraid to fight. I thought our budget would be safe because you would actually reform Washington. I knew I would be proud of a real American Hero becoming President.
This is not a failure. The American people spoke and it was no real reflection on you. It was anger at the Bush Administration. It was the promise of change from Barack Obama. It was America’s way of healing and in your classy concession speech, you made me proud to be your supporter.
I will continue to teach my daughter of your sacrifice, in hopes that one day she will give service to the country that has given us so much. This election was not only a lesson of the growth of America, it was also a look back into history on how many people gave so much to allow us to get to this point. How you gave so much to allow Barack Obama to be raised if a free country where anything is possible?
So indeed he nor I would be here if it weren’t for men like you. You will be a hero of mine forever. No matter what the future holds for you, I will carry a piece of you with me always. The want and need to fight for this country.
Thank You.

Well written, ditto!
Funny thing, my father taught me to watch McCain and this has been a 40 year journey for me.
Hopefully, the lessons that we have learned from John’s experiences will not be lost on the future genrations.
God Bless America, John McCain/Sarah Palin and all who continue to serve her.
Dear Sonkystar,
I think your letter to Mr. McCain was very well put. When I watched his November 4th speech, I was reminded of the honorable man who started this long campaign journey so many months ago. What a class act that was. Many people saw the Obama speech and wept. Well, I wept at the McCain speech for its hopefulness, it humility, and its gentle grace. It showed the John McCain many of us knew. While he got lost in the hubbub of some very ill-advised moves, I knew that he had to be in there somewhere. He showed himself to us on November 4th and I think we are better for knowing him.
I think you are wrong. McCain performed woefully on the debates against Obama and his choise of Palin didn’t help either. Lets just imagine he chose Romney as his running mate, Republicans would have been able to raise more money and states like Massachusets, Michigan, Nevada and Colorado where Romney is very poular would have been more competitive. What were republicans doing when the democrats were signing up millions of new voters? Overall a horrible campaign…I am not a fan of Bush/Cheney, but this loss was caused by McCain himself.
God, reading this blog and the 2 comments above are scary. It’s true that the real political war in this country is not about race, but class. So it’s not surprising to me that there are black republicans. You people have as little sympathy or understanding of the Black underclass as do your white counterparts. Elsewhere on this site, I’ve read how you put down those African-Americans on public assistance, or work for the government. You should be ashamed of yourselves. Republicans claim to have a lock on Christian values. But if you recall, Christ never said 2 good things about materialism or the rich. He warned that in the kingdom, “The first will be last, and the last will be first”. He said that the standard by which we all would be judged was “Whatsoever you do to the least of my brothers, that you do unto me”. And let’s not forget the camel and the needle’s eye metaphor.
Yet despite what your supposed Lord and Savior preached, you conservatives care only about getting ahead, making money and puttind down the less fortunate. Bush and his cronies have destroyed this country, and still you people blindly adhere to the beliefs that helped destroy it. I’ll pray for you.
