Viva La Vida -Coldplay
~Most of the video's we put on this blog are R&B and Hip Hop but given that not everyone who reads this blogs listens to this music, we are now adding other groups due to the many emails I have received over the years. So today I was bashing my head trying to figure out what rock band is hot right now...and “Whalla..just like the Coldplays' new album Viva La Vida was playing in the restaurant I was having a bite to eat...So without further ado we make history at HipHopRepublican in showcasing the first band on this blog...I love the lyrics.
~I used to rule the world
Seas would rise when I gave the word
Now in the morning I sleep alone
Sweep the streets I used to own
Coldplay are a rock band formed in London, England in 1997. The group comprises vocalist/pianist/guitarist Chris Martin, lead guitarist Jonny Buckland, bassist Guy Berryman, and drummer/multi-instrumentalist Will Champion. Coldplay have sold 34.6 million albums, and are also known for their hit singles, such as "Yellow", "The Scientist", "Speed of Sound", "Fix You", "Viva la Vida" and the Grammy Award-winning "Clocks".
Coldplay achieved worldwide fame with the release of their single "Yellow", followed by their debut album, Parachutes (2000), which was nominated for the Mercury Prize. Its follow-up, A Rush of Blood to the Head (2002) won multiple awards such as NME's Album of the Year and was later included on Rolling Stone magazine's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time list, ranking at #473. Their next release, X&Y (2005), received a slightly less enthusiastic yet still generally positive reception. The band's fourth studio album, Viva la Vida or Death and All His Friends (2008), was produced by Brian Eno and released again to largely favourable reviews. All of Coldplay's albums have enjoyed great commercial success.

This band used to be my favorite- but have recently been turned off by Chris Martin. Not sure if you are aware of Martin's interview in Rolling Stone. If not, go to :

Look at his comments regarding the American presidential race. I think even Obama supporters should realized that his comments are insulting. First, he suggests that the entire world should be able to vote in our elections. Second, he comments on how people don't respect Americans. Anyone who has travelled abroad knows that Europeans have always been critical of Americans. (I studied in Scotland for a year during the Clinton administration and people still criticized us). The idea that Americans should vote for a President so that the rest of the world will respect them is absurd.
Hey, if George Clooney can advise Obama (on anything), then this Brit has equally valid opinions.
Hmmm...Europeans have very good reason to be critical of Americans. I won't bore you with the details, maybe y'all should just, I don't know take a long critical look at what our last disaster of a President has done. Seriously..."Hip Hop Republican?" at least have some self-respect.
