"AMAZI GENYANJA"

This is a video from Soul Beat Africa doing a performance of "Amazi Genyanja" one of the oldest folk song from Uganda

Quote Of The Day

"But is the observance that a group of black women have 'aggressively curly' (i.e. nappy) hair and choose not to straighten it necessarily some sort of racially-tinged insult? After all, most black men have the same sort of hair and choose not to straighten it also.

The thing is this. Imus's words for these women were couched in his opinions regarding the less-than-feminine demeanor of the members of this team; the adjective 'nappy-headed' was a part of that. Most black (American) women with nappy hair choose to straighten it, buy hair extensions to make it longer or to wear wigs that give the appearance of long straight hair.

These choices fall in line with the generally accepted standard of female beauty in America and in many other places (with Africa being the notable and pertinent exception).

When women who do not have naturally straight and/or rapid hair growth
choose not to buy into that standard--choose to set their own standard--often
their femininity and sexuality is questioned.....So I think that when Imus observed
the general rough, tough demeanor of the Rutgers team, the fact that many of these
girls don't straighten their hair was a part of that roughness and toughness in his subconscious mind.....I don't think it was racist; however, it was a cultural bias in favor of the prevailing standard of beauty, one to which many black men subscribe as well.

And, to drive home my point, it seems that it is the adjective 'nappy-headed' that is perceived in many quarters as the more insulting part of the phrase.....If I were one of the Rutgers players, I'd want to kick Imus's crusty, creaky a__ for the
unequivocally offensive epithet 'ho.' After all, Imus is implying that he has
some person knowledge of these girls' alleged 'ho-dom.'"

"YouTube - Ghetto Gospel"

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ghetto Gospel is a song by rapper Tupac Shakur, which was remixed and released on his 2004 album Loyal to the Game. The song features Elton John, as it samples his song Indian Sunset from his 1971 album Madman Across the Water. The track discusses the evil 2Pac perceived in society and his lyrics state a number of reasons why our lives are ruled by fear. The released version is based on an alternate take of the original version, which contained four verses by 2Pac. Eminem removed part of 2Pac's first verse ("We never really went through that, 'cause we were born B.C., you and me before crack...".)

"Ghetto Gospel" was the only song on Loyal to the Game with an accompanying music video. Despite the track featuring Elton John, he did not appear in the video clip. It instead featured J.D. Williams. Towards the end of the video, 2Pac is shot but then appears at his own funeral, fueling rumors that the rapper's death was faked. At the very end of the video there is a message from his mother, Afeni Shakur, saying "Remember to keep yourself alive, there is nothing more important than that".

The words "Lord, can you hear me speak." and "and pay the price of being hellbound." at the end of the song are originally from the 4th verse.

There are also parts of it which sound like Tupac's voice with a digitally added, lower toned voice, singing with him: "before its ruined" from the end of the first verse and "I set goals, take control" and "Before we find world peace" from the second verse. The sudden change of tone in his voice when these words are spoken are possibly the result of multiple layers of time/pitch stretched vocals.

~One of my favorite songs from 2PAC.

Lyrics

If I could recelect before my hood dayz
I would sit in bliss and reminis on the good dayz.
I stop and stare at the younger, my heart goes to'em
They stressed and goin under.
We never really went through that
Cause we was born ??
Today things change,its a shame
They blame it on the youth cause the truth look strange
For them its worse, we come from a world thats cursed
And it hurts.
Cause any day theyll push the button.
And yall condemned like malcom x and uncle bob
They died for nothin.
Make the people teary, the world looks dreary
But when you wipe your eyes you see it clearley.
Theres no need for you to fear me.
If you take the time to hear me, maybe you can learn to cheer me.
It aint about black or white, both doin
I hope you see the light before its ruiend
My ghetto gospel

[Chorus x3]

It ok, its ok, its ok
My ghetto gospel

[2Pac]

Tell me do you see that old lady she aint sad
Living out a bag, in rags, loving the things she has
Over there see that lady, the cracks got her crazy.
And shes gonna give birth to a baby?
I shouldnt let it fade me. we out of the projects
Jumped into another form of slavery.
And even now i get discouraged.
I wonder if its tooken all back will i still keep the courage.
I refuse to be a role modle.
I keep control on the hoes and take out my old bottle.
I make mistakes, i learn from everyone.
And when its said and done, ill be called a better one.
If i strecth you dont stretch.
Never forget, god is gonna finish with me yet.
I feel his hands on my brain.
When i write ryhmes, i go blind, and let the lord do this thing.
But am i any less holy,
I choose to puff a blunt and drink a beer with my homies
And then world peace, we tried and failed
Now theres war in the streets
My ghetto gospel.

[Chorus x3]

[2Pac]

I remember grandmas hands use to hold me
Mold me, i never forget the things she told me
Brothas a butt, and played the big shot
But you know grannys are the only other thing lil ghetto kids got.
Moms work, and pops burried.
Drop me off at grannys, left without a heart cause shes worried
And ghetto grannys are like books.
We got some many crooks, so many grannys gettin shook.
And gettin trapped in a nursing home.
Times is hard, and even worse alone
And how could you be so cold,
Youll get your turn, as soon as you turn old.
All they ask of every person,
Is for a brotha to figure whats on his mind when hes cursin.
9 out of 10 youll find them problems.
Time to take listen and see what you can do to solve them.
Cause every body needs a little help
On the way of relieng on ones self.
And think about it, why 2pac hit you with a little ghetto gospel
My ghetto gospel.

[Chorus x3]

[2Pac]

I wake up stone cold gangsta main
See ya gave me ghetto gospel, i thank you main
Use to roll in the back and do drugs a lot.
Now im bangin the tracks, slangin ryhmes i got.
In this world of greed tryin to succeed on my beliefs.
Now i lay me down to sleep, lord can you hear me speak.
Can you forgive me for my sins
If i had it all to do again, id still play to win
I hope the lord can understand me.
A mans gotta do what he can for his family.
And pay the price of being hellbound.
But i ratha see hell later than see hell now.
And the devil aint got nothin on the president.
Cut back and keep us tsrapped in our residence.
And be like animals in cages.
We can rant and rave about slavery for ages.
Or we can stop makin awful
And hitem with a lil ghetto gospel
My ghetto gospel.

Nigeria: Gunmen Kill Wahhabi Cleric in Mosque

(Hat tip: LGF)

More violence in Nigeria today, where two gunmen entered a mosque and killed a Wahhabi cleric trained by our friends the Saudis, then opened fire on his followers.

KANO, Nigeria (AFP) - Gunmen shot dead a radical Muslim cleric in his mosque and fired on the congregation, killing two more people, in the northern Nigerian city of Kano Friday, witnesses said.

Followers of Jaafar Adam, a Wahhabi cleric, said the attack was political, ahead of the weekend elections for governors and legislators for the country’s 36 states. Two gunmen entered the mosque in a Kano suburb where Adam was leading morning prayers, shot the cleric twice and then opened fire on worshippers, Haruna Idris, one of Adam’s disciples, told AFP at the scene where thousands of people had gathered. ...

Saudi-trained Adam was known for his scathing criticism of the government and other Muslim sects, especially the Sufi order, as well as his strong calls for the strict implementation of the sharia legal system.

He would always snub the governors of the 12 northern states that practise sharia for allegedly not implementing it properly. Hundreds of his followers would flock to his mosque built by the London-based Saudi charity Al-Muntada Al-Islami in the Dorayi district of Kano to listen to his Friday sermons.

Ohio man accused of joining al-Qaida, planning bomb plots in Europe

By Richie

Well they have gotten another undercover terrorist and he looks like he is African American! Why should
our community be shocked that some of us choose to be terrorist.

We as African Americans waste no time through word of mouth and media talking about the horrors of this nation yet few try to articulate why America is a great nation. Of course to do this would be selling out!

Yet many of us show ourselves hypocrites by staying in this so called racist, fascist nation. It should also be noted that many of these American terriost have a liberal anti American bent! They were raised or choose to suround themselves with causes that would be defined as liberal or progressive. I am not saying that liberals create terrorist but the constant unchecked paranoid rants againts this nation can cause a person to flip out on us all!

We do ourselves no good by inflaming anti American hatred in our own streets because one day some little boy may take those words to heart and bring a great
deal of terror to those same streets!

It would not be hard pressed to understand why one might easily rationalize that blacks have a right to blow themselves up!

If the argument works in Palestine why not in Harlem?

A US citizen in Columbus, Ohio, has been charged with plotting terror attacks and training with Al Qaeda (since 1999):

Matt Leingang, Associated Press

COLUMBUS, Ohio — An American citizen has been indicated on charges of joining al-Qaida and conspiring to bomb European tourist resorts and U.S. government facilities and military bases overseas, officials said Thursday. The investigation of Christopher Paul, 43, spanned four years, three continents and at least eight countries, FBI agent Tim Murphy said shortly before the Columbus man appeared before a federal judge.

Paul trained with al-Qaida in the early 1990s and told al-Qaida members in Pakistan and Afghanistan that he was dedicated to committing violent jihad, according to the indictment.

“The indictment of Christopher Paul paints a disturbing picture of an American who travelled overseas to train as a violent jihadist, joined the ranks of al-Qaida and provided military instruction and support to radial cohorts both here and abroad,” Assistant U.S. Attorney General Kenneth Wainstein said in a statement.

Paul, who was arrested Wednesday outside his apartment, is charged with providing material support to terrorists, conspiracy to provide support to terrorists and conspiracy to use a weapon of mass destruction. In court Thursday, Magistrate Judge Terence Kemp asked Paul if he understood the charges.

“Yes, sir,” Paul replied

Prosecutors asked that he be held without bond, and Kemp set another hearing Friday on the issue. Paul’s lawyer, Don Wolery, did not return a message seeking comment before the hearing.

The indictment says Paul travelled to Germany about April 1999 to train co-conspirators to use explosives to attack European and U.S. targets, including government buildings and vacation spots frequented by American tourists.

It does not name specific resorts or buildings that might have been targeted, but gives U.S. embassies, military bases and consular premises in Europe as examples.
Paul later sent a wire transfer of $1,760 from a financial institution in the U.S. to an alleged co-conspirator in Germany, prosecutors allege.

A fax machine in his home contained names, phone numbers and contact information for key al-Qaida leadership and associates, according to the indictment, issued Wednesday.

Paul also is accused of storing material at his father’s house in Columbus, including a book on improvised landmines, money from countries in the Middle East and a letter to his parents explaining that he would be “on the front lines,” according to the indictment.

His sister, Sandra Laws, answered the door at the home and said she and her father live there. She said the family would be speaking to Paul’s lawyer later and declined further comment.
No charges are expected against family members, authorities said.

Paul was born Paul Kenyatta Laws. He legally changed his name to Abdulmalek Kenyatta in 1989, then to Christopher Paul in 1994, according to the indictment.
After finishing his al-Qaida training in the early 1990s, he returned to Columbus to teach martial arts at a mosque, the indictment said.

Two other Columbus men have been charged in federal investigators’ terrorism investigation.Iyman Faris was sentenced in 2003 to 20 years in prison for a plot to topple the Brooklyn Bridge. Nuradin Abdi, accused of plotting to blow up a Columbus-area shopping mall, is awaiting trial on charges including conspiring
to aid terrorists.

Zimbabwe: Why African Leaders Are Silent

"African leaders are not ostriches. The basic reason is that most African incumbent governments are facing political showdowns from opposition parties.
When opposition takeover threats reach boiling point, African leaders would play Mugabe’s political survival card. To this end, African leaders are justified not to tell Mugabe off as this would mean they are supporting opposition parties, that are giving them headache in their own backyards.
Mugabe is therefore their hero not because of his ill-conceived and ill-timed land reform programme but because he has taught them how to survive political tornadoes.....That the land inequality between natives and non-natives was severe in Zimbabwe is not disputable.
What is disputable, and discredits the whole land reform programme, is the timing, the manner and political circumstances under which it was implemented. Mugabe knew that his political ship was sinking and had to find a quick solution. He knew that the bulk of cultivable [crops] was in the hands of white commercial farmers and that the majority of the people were still nurturing the hatred against whites, through years of colonialism.

Given this background, Mugabe just needed some political propaganda that could convince a few souls that white farmers wanted to recolonise Zimbabwe through their support of Movement for Democratic Change (MDC).
"It continues: "Traditionally, our leaders have not been bold enough to find African solutions for African problems. They wait for donors to sort out African problems. How do we expect outsiders who have little knowledge of the root causes of Africa’s economic and political problems to find a solution for us? When we have floods, we send distress signals to the West for food relief instead of mobilising our own resources.

If genocide is happening in Darfur, we’re holding conferences that yield no tangible solution, then kneel before the international community for a solution. If the international community is not forthcoming, we blame them for starvation or genocide. Come on African Leaders! This is the twenty first century! Let’s get the hell out of the cocoon of denials and irresponsibility and learn to find African solutions for African problems."And more: "The East, especially China, shares the blame for the spread of Mugabeism in Africa. The West was quick to impose travel bans and freezing of assets of top government officials of Zimbabwe not because the political and economic crisis is victimising Zimbabwean[s] but because white farmers were involved.

If the Mugabe mania was only targeted at Zimbabweans, the West would have dilly-dallied on imposing sanctions on Zimbabwe. China is increasingly supporting and doing business with corrupt and repressive regimes in Africa. Its huge appetite for natural resources, which can be sourced from Africa at rock-bottom prices, has forced it to disregard poor human rights record of its bedfellows."

Ella sings "Summertime" Berlin 1968

Excellent,

I must say if evolution does exist it is missing in the music industry where the theory fails, in a nation where the lyrics Lean Back top the charts I wonder if we are progessing or falling to pieces!

Now below this is the top video in the nation called "Lean Back".It stars Ludacris Tupac..(NOT SURE HOW) Nas, and Jay-z and Lil Flip...

Ella is turning in her grave

This is a sample of the lyrics

"See my niggas don't dance,See we just pull up the pants and,Do the Roc-a-way.

Now lean back, lean back, lean back, lean back.

I said my niggas don't dance,See we just pull up the pants and,Do the Roc-a-way.

Now lean back, lean back, lean back, lean back.

And this is supposed to be art ..yeah okay!

Quote Of The Day

"When the Clintons came to Washington, D.C. in 1993, they could choose any public school for Chelsea. Being responsible parents of means, Bill and Hillary Clinton sent her instead to the elite private Sidwell Friends School. Two years later Mr. Clinton vetoed a bill that would have allowed low-income D.C. parents to use public funds to send their children to private schools. (A subsequent version of that program was signed into law by George W. Bush.)

And today presidential candidate Mrs. Clinton continues to stridently oppose school choice....John Edwards, Mr. Populist, decries that 'America has two school systems -- one for the affluent and one for everyone else.' He should know. When he joined the U.S. Senate he sent his children to a religious school because, according to USA Today, the D.C. 'public schools are deeply troubled.' Mr. Edwards, however, opposes private school choice for low-income families on the curious grounds that this would 'drain resources' from public schools.

By such logic Mr. Edwards himself 'drained' approximately $132,000 from the D.C. public schools.....There is only one Democratic aspirant who sent his children exclusively to public schools, and he was also the only one who signed a school choice bill into law in his own state: former Iowa Gov. Tom Vilsack, who withdrew from the race when his candidacy failed to gain traction. And there is only one candidate -- Sen. Joe Biden -- who has both sent his children to private school and supported school choice for others. The mystery man is Sen. Barack Obama, who sends his child to a private school in Chicago yet once referred to school vouchers as 'social Darwinism.'"

Australia boycotts Mugabe Stupid,Ridiculous, Speech

by Aussie Dasher

AUSTRALIA was the only country whose representative to a UN meeting boycotted a"disgraceful" speech by Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe, Foreign Minister Alexander Downer said today. Mr Mugabe used the UN Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) anniversary meeting in Rome overnight to launch a withering denunciation of US President George W Bush and British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

The Zimbabwe President described them as "the two unholy men of our millennium",comparing them with Hitler and Mussolini. Mr Downer today said Australia's representative at the meeting had walked out prior to the speech. "I thought his speech was absolutely disgraceful," the Foreign Minister said on ABC radio. "Australia, I am proud to say, was the only country whose representative walked out before President Mugabe's speech.

Herald Sun ^

My perspective

Mugabe = Pinhead

Australia = Friend

Opposition to Mugabe should be seen as being pro-humanity, irrespective of race or colour.

America Has Lost a Generation of Black Boys

By: Phillip Jackson

There is no longer a need for dire predictions, hand-wringing, or
apprehension about losing a generation of Black boys. It is too late.
In education,employment,economics, incarceration, health, housing,
and parenting, we have lost a generation of young Black men. The question that remains is will we lose the next two or three generations, or possibly every generation of Black boys hereafter to the streets, negative media, gangs, drugs, poor education, unemployment, father absence, crime, violence and death.

Most young Black men in the United States don’t graduate from high school. Only 35% of Black male students graduated from high school in Chicago and only 26% in New York City, according to a 2006 report by The Schott Foundation for Public Education. Only a few Black boys who finish high school actually attend college, and of those few Black boys who enter college, nationally, only 22% of them finish college.

Young Black male students have the worst grades, the lowest test scores, and the highest dropout rates of all students in the country. When these young Black men don’t succeed in school, they are much more likely to succeed in the nation’s criminal justice and penitentiary system. And it was discovered recently that even when a young Black man graduates from a U.S. college, there is a good chance that he is from Africa, the Caribbean or Europe, and not the United States.

Black men in prison in America have become as American as apple pie. There are more Black men in prisons and jails in the United States (about 1.1 million) than there are Black men incarcerated in the rest of the world combined. This criminalization process now starts in elementary schools with Black male children as young as six and seven years old being arrested in staggering numbers according to a 2005 report, Education on Lockdown by the Advancement Project.

The rest of the world is watching and following the lead of America. Other countries including England, Canada, Jamaica, Brazil and South Africa are adopting American social policies that encourage the incarceration and destruction of young Black men. This is leading to a world-wide catastrophe. But still, there is no adequate response from the American or global Black community.

Worst of all is the passivity, neglect and disengagement of the Black community concerning the future of our Black boys. We do little while the future lives of Black boys are being destroyed in record numbers. The schools that Black boys attend prepare them with skills that will make them obsolete before, and if, they graduate. In a strange and perverse way, the Black community, itself, has started to wage a kind of war against young Black men and has become part of this destructive process.

Who are young Black women going to marry? Who is going to build and maintain the economies of Black communities? Who is going to anchor strong families in the Black community? Who will young Black boys emulate as they grow into men? Where is the outrage of the Black community at the destruction of its Black boys? Where are the plans and the supportive actions to change this? Is this the beginning of the end of the Black people in America?

The list of those who have failed young Black men includes our government, our foundations, our schools, our media, our Black churches, our Black leaders, and even our parents. Ironically, experts say that the solutions to the problems of young Black men are simple and relatively inexpensive, but they may not be easy, practical or popular. It is not that we lack solutions as much as it is that we lack the will to implement these solutions to save Black boys. It seems that government is willing to pay billions of dollars to lock up young Black men, rather than the millions it would take to prepare them to become viable contributors and valued members of our society.

~Please consider these simple goals that can lead to solutions for fixing the problems of young Black men:

Short term
1) Teach all Black boys to read at grade level by the third grade and to embrace education
2) Provide positive role models for Black boys
3) Create a stable home environment for Black boys that includes contact with their fathers
4) Ensure that Black boys have a strong spiritual base
5) Control the negative media influences on Black boys
6) Teach Black boys to respect all girls and women

Long term

1) Invest as much money in educating Black boys as in locking up Black men
2) Help connect Black boys to a positive vision of themselves in the future
3) Create high expectations and help Black boys live into those high expectations
4) Build a positive peer culture for Black boys
5) Teach Black boys self-discipline, culture and history
6) Teach Black boys and the communities in which they live to embrace education and life-long learning

Don Imus and Nappy Headed Hos's

On his "Imus In The Morning" show Thursday, he referred to the Rutgers women's basketball team as "nappy-
headed hos."

He was talking to Sid Rosenberg with Sports Talk on the phone about the Women's NCAA Championship game.Imus started out talking about the Rutgers team as, "some rough girls from Rutgers.

They got tattoos," and then went on to call them "some nappy-headed hos."He compared them to the Tennessee team, saying "The girls from Tennessee -- they all looked cute." The conversation then went on to compare the game to "the jigaboos versus the wannabes." Media Matters reported that the show's executive producer, Bernard McGuirk, made that comment.

Imus has more to say about those remarks, according to the New York Times. Imus said people should relax and not worry about "some idiot comment meant to be amusing." A Rutgers spokesperson issued a statement saying, "We agree with Mr. Imus that this was, in his own words, an 'idiot comment.' We are very proud of the success of the Rutgers women's basketball team. Coach Stringer and the Rutgers players are outstanding ambassadors for this great institution."

MSNBC released this statement in response to the comments, "While simulcast by MSNBC, 'Imus in the Morning' is not a production of the cable network and is produced by WFAN Radio. As Imus makes clear every day, his views are not those of MSNBC. We regret that his remarks were aired on MSNBC and apologize for these offensive comments."

~The remarks by Imus were racist and unjustified the "n" word is not the only racist comment someone can make. Everyone one on his show knows what he meant when referring to the black girls on the Rutgers team as "nappy headed hoes".
Don Imus himself looks like a dead corpse. He looks like he's been dead for 20 years. He has no business saying who looks rough or cute or who is a nappy headed ho. However I must say I've never seen Sharpton or Jesse get up in public and launch any ampaigns against the multitude of black rap artists who refer to women as ho's and chicken heads etc, in album and after album. There is a double standard but that double standard is no excuse for rationalizing his disgusting behavior!
