A Girl Like Me
A Girl Like Me is a documentory of how color is more than skin deep for young African-American women who are struggling to define themselves
In an illuminating series of interviews with black girls in her high school, Kiri Davis (age 16) explores how American standards of beauty affect self-image. She also reconducts the “doll test” initially conducted by Dr. Kenneth Clark, which was used in the historic desegregation case, Brown vs. Board of Education, with heart-rending results.
