Typical Ignorant Liberals......

This is from a blogger on Youtube.

Recently there was a protest at my school, the protesters were surrounding the campus military recruiter and yelling "get the fuck off our campus" I decided to confront the protesters, they were obviously against what the U.S. was doing in Iraq, so I asked them how they would handle the situation if they were in power...now most liberals I talk to are extremely ignorant, but I dont even understand what these girls are even talking about, I mean to these people Bush and republicans do everything that is wrong in the world...I just wish they would take 5 minutes to research what they are protesting about before taking to the streets and looking like complete idiots!

Protest Video: Decadent Drink Weakens Resolve Of The Masses

All corporations are evil, but some are less evil than others. That's what these protesters had to be thinking when they gathered in droves at Starbucks to drink decadent lattes during the anti-war, anti-corporate, anti-capitalist, and anti-American protest at Washington, DC on March 18, 2006 to mark the 3rd anniversary of Iraqi liberation Imperialist War for Oil. Unfortunately for the progressive movement, the consumption of bourgeois drinks was caught on tape by capitalist running dogs, thus exposing the soft belly of the Party's class struggle.

The meager turnout of about 200 unwashed children of the streets and elderly Party members (more people attended Milosevic's funeral!) ruined our plans to take over the White House and distribute the power to each according to their need (and we need the power more than others!) The Party resorted to Plan B and guided the glorious march of the masses from Dick Cheney's Mansion to DuPont Circle - but did not anticipate that the Starbucks joint on the corner would seem more attractive to these fighters for economic justice than the inflammatory anti-corporate rhetoric by our best propagandists with corporate-made self-made megaphones.

In vain did we hope that "small turnout" would translate into "cream of the crop." As the classified film shows, the masses were far from the stoic ideal of the fanatical uncompromising rebel willing to sacrifice selfish needs on the altar of the Common Good™. Most of these weak-spirited fellow travelers turned out to be mere Useful Idiots™ and will have to be horded into boxcars and shipped off to re-education centers after they help us to grab power get elected. Shoveling permafrost in sub-arctic temperatures will remedy their addiction to lattes faster than a Party member can say "decadent bourgeois beverage!"

Today we present you a short, 3.5 min. version of the classified film. A longer version is currently in production and will become available next week, so don't switch the channel or else!

Neocons Invade Sesame Street

This video is a solid proof that the Neocon puppet masters had plotted to install Bush many years in advance - shamelessly stealing our progressive tactics of conditioning the masses through subliminal messages in the media.

Iran: Police arrest martyred Christian's daughter

Islamic Tolerance Alert from Iran, via Compass Direct:

September 29 (Compass Direct News) – Iranian secret police arrested a Christian couple in the northeastern city of Mashhad three days ago, forcing them to leave behind their 6-year-old daughter and holding them incommunicado ever since.
Plainclothes policemen who declined to identify themselves demanded entrance into the apartment home of Reza Montazami, 35, and his wife Fereshteh Dibaj, 28, at 7 a.m. on Tuesday (September 26).

Claiming they had “permission” from the proper authorities, the men conducted a complete search of the family’s home. The couple’s computers and various other personal items were confiscated, along with all the Christian literature in the house.

When it became clear that both he and his wife were going to be physically detained, Montazami managed to telephone his mother, asking her to come quickly to pick up their daughter Christine.

Shortly after the grandmother arrived, Montazami and his wife were taken away in an unmarked car. When the grandmother went into the apartment to get Christine, she found two men still searching the premises.

Asked where Christine’s parents were being taken, the men named a local police station. But when Montazami’s relatives went to the designated place, the police on duty declared they knew nothing about any such detention.

So the family continued to search and inquire, going from one office to another around the city. Finally near the end of the day, authorities at a local intelligence branch of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) admitted that they were holding the couple there for questioning....

Despite repeated inquiries, officials would only say that interrogations were continuing, with documents being prepared on the “exact charges” against them....

“They are just lying to them,” said one Iranian Christian who himself fled persecution in Iran several years ago for abandoning Islam and becoming a Christian. “It is psychological warfare, to keep their families uncertain and try to make them afraid.”

From a well-known Mashhad family, Montazami converted to Christianity in his 20s. He now goes by the first name Amir among his friends and family.

His wife Fereshteh is the youngest daughter of the Rev. Mehdi Dibaj, an Assemblies of God minister who was martyred for his faith 12 years ago. A Christian for 45 years, Dibaj spent more than nine years in prison, where he was given the death penalty for committing apostasy. A few months after international protests prompted his release, he was abducted and assassinated on the way to his teenage daughter Fereshteh’s birthday party.

Montazami and his wife lead an independent house church in Mashhad, the only known remnant of two active Protestant Christian congregations worshipping in the city before Iran’s Islamic revolution in 1976.

Both churches were closed by government order in the 1980s. Then in December 1990, the government executed a Mashhad pastor, the Rev. Hussein Soodmand. A former Muslim who had become a Christian 24 years earlier, Soodmand refused to recant his faith after four months under extreme physical and psychological mistreatment in prison....

Byzantine Emperor Apologizes to Muslims For Quote

In the view of some historians, the Pope's recent apology to enraged Muslims over use of a quote written by Manuel II Palaeologus in 1391 bears a striking similarity with a similar apology delivered more than 600 years ago by Manuel II Palaeologus himself to offended Muslim armies after they ransacked his Christian country, converted its citizens to Islam, and beheaded or enslaved those who resisted the forced conversions. In a public speech made shortly after the quote first appeared in Muslim press, Manuel II apologized to the Islamic community that besieged his controversial "Byzantine entity," the term used to describe the Greek-speaking Roman Empire of the Middle Ages, centered at its capital in Constantinople (now Istanbul).

"I hope," said Manuel II, who was also known as a writer, poet and theologian, "that my apology will appease hearts and clarify the true meaning of my address, which was an invitation to a rational dialogue, with great mutual respect."
"In my seventh dialogue with an imaginary Islamic scholar," the learned Byzantine ruler continued as he evaded occasional critical arrows flying from the surrounding hordes, "I referred to the Koran's teachings about spreading the faith by the sword. And this, I said, could not come from God because violence is the opposite of reason, and God himself cannot act contrary to reason. But your passionate criticism has proven to me that there is, indeed, nothing evil or inhuman in spreading the faith by violent means, and that beheadings of non-believers and terrorizing communities in the name of religion are all signs of perfectly rational behavior and wonderful mental health."

"Taking quotes out of context is similarly a magnificent example of a reasonable dialogue from which we all should learn," Manuel II said, adding that the recent slaughters of thousands of his Christian subjects by the Muslim sword were the result of his own blindness to the true peaceful nature of Islam. "We can only hope that their sacrifice will help build real fraternity among us," he said, "so that all Muslims and Christians can learn to live with reciprocal respect of everyone's religious convictions, and that some 600 years from now conflicts and misunderstandings like this would be a thing of the past."

A group of Muslim scholars demonstrate passages in the Koran showing that the "Byzantine entity" has no right to exist.

But many Muslims perceived the Emperor's emphasis on "rational" as unhelpful. Demonstrations, threats and calls to violence continued throughout the Muslim world, as protesters demanded that the Byzantine ruler be punished by strict Islamic Shariah law for implying that Muslims cannot respond to criticism rationally, but only with demonstrations, threats and violence.

Angry Ottoman activists burned a number of ancient Greek churches and publicly beheaded residents in several Byzantine towns, converting the less stubborn survivors to Islam to the cheers and applause of prominent Muslim clerics who gathered for the occasion.
European leaders, who had recently declined Manuel's personal pleas for help against the invading Muslim armies, responded to the controversy by warning the Byzantine ruler about the danger of confusing Islam with a militant movement that masks itself as religion.

"We must avoid everything that increases tension between people or religions," said the King of France in an open letter to Manuel II (cc the Ottoman Court). "Islam is a religion of peace, and there is a need to be on constant alert against marginal provocations that are meant to turn this issue into a global crisis."

In conclusion, it should be noted that the "Byzantine entity" lasted for only 62 more years, falling to the Ottoman Turks in 1453, thus ending the 1100-year-old controversy about its right to exist next to Muslim lands. Its capital Constantinople was renamed into Istanbul, its churches were converted to mosques, the country changed its name to Turkey, and its residents lost their language, cultural identity, and religion to Muslim Turks. No wonder that today some of the strongest criticism of the Pope's use of the Byzantine quote is coming from Turkey - whose people suffered the most from bigoted remarks of the erstwhile Byzantine ruler.

Rep.Mark Foley Resigns from Office

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Rep. Mark Foley, a Republican from Florida, resigned Friday from the House, a day after a former congressional page questioned e-mails Foley had sent to him.

Foley apparently sent the e-mails in August 2005, when the male page was 16 years old.

"Today I have delivered a letter to the speaker of the House informing him of my decision to resign from the U.S. House of Representatives, effective today. I thank the people of Florida's 16th Congressional District for giving me the opportunity to serve them for the last twelve years; it has been an honor," Foley said in a written statement.

"I am deeply sorry and I apologize for letting down my family and the people of Florida I have had the privilege to represent."

In the e-mails, which were obtained by the Washington-based Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, Foley discussed a second page, saying "I just emailed [him]... hes such a nice guy... acts much older than his age... hes in great shape... i am just finished riding my bike on a 25 mile journey now heading to the gym... whats school like for you this year?"

Foley then asked the page for a picture.

The young man, who forwarded the e-mails to another congressional staffer, called the e-mails "sick, sick, sick."

"Maybe it is just me being paranoid, but seriously. This freaks me out," the page wrote in the e-mails obtained by CREW.

A spokesman for Foley told CNN the congressman acknowledged he had an e-mail exchange with the former page but flatly denied that it was anything inappropriate.
Speaker Dennis Hastert of Illinois said he supported Foley's resignation.

This is very sad, many people suspected he was struggling with being
gay, I am not sure how true these rumors are but this only makes
it even more probable.

Just in case the Democrats want to lick there chops over this perceived
victory check out DEMOCRAT SEX SCANDAL'S

TOP DEMOCRAT SEX SCANDAL'S

Rep. Mel Reynolds (D-Ill.)
Freshman Reynolds was indicted on Aug. 19, 1994, on charges of having sex with a 16-year-old campaign worker and then pressuring her to lie about it. Reynolds, who is black, denied the charges and said the investigation was racially motivated. The GOP belatedly put up a write-in candidate for November, but Reynolds dispatched him in the overwhelmingly Democratic district with little effort. Reynolds was convicted on Aug. 22, 1995 of 12 counts of sexual assault, obstruction of justice and solicitation of child pornography, was sentenced to five years in prison, and resigned his seat on October 1.

Sen. Brock Adams (D-Wash.)
On Sept. 27, 1988, Seattle newspapers reported that Kari Tupper, the daughter of Adams's longtime friends, filed a complaint against the Washington Democrat in July of 1987, charging sexual assault. She claimed she went to Adams's house in March 1987 to get him to end a pattern of harassment, but that he drugged her and assaulted her. Adams denied any sexual assault, saying they only talked about her employment opportunities. Adams continued raising campaign funds and declared for a second term in February of 1992. But two weeks later the Seattle Times reported that eight other women were accusing Adams of sexual molestation over the past 20 years, describing a history of drugging and subsequent rape. Later that day, while still proclaiming his innocence, Adams ended his campaign.

Rep. Jim Bates (D-Calif.)
Roll Call quoted former Bates aides in October 1988 saying that the San Diego Democrat made sexual advances toward female staffers. Bates called it a GOP-inspired smear campaign, but also apologized for anything he did that might have seemed inappropriate. The story came too close to Election Day to damage Bates, who won easily. However, the following October the ethics committee sent Bates a "letter of reproval" directing him to make a formal apology to the women who filed the complaint. Although the district was not thought to be hospitable to the GOP, Randy "Duke" Cunningham, a former Navy pilot who was once shot down over North Vietnam, ousted Bates in 1990 by fewer than 2,000 votes.

Rep. Gus Savage (D-Ill.)
The Washington Post reported on July 19, 1989, that Savage had fondled a Peace Corps volunteer while on an official visit to Zaire. Savage called the story a lie and blamed it on his political enemies and a racist media. (Savage is black.) In January 1990, the House ethics committee decided that the events did occur, but decided against any disciplinary action because Savage wrote a letter to the woman saying he "never intended to offend" her. Savage was reelected in 1990, but finally ousted in the 1992 primary by Mel Reynolds.

Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.)
In response to a story in the Aug. 25, 1989, Washington Times, Frank confirmed that he hired Steve Gobie, a male prostitute, in 1985 to live with and work for him in his D.C. apartment. But Frank, who is gay, said he fired Gobie in 1987 when he learned he was using the apartment to run a prostitution service. The Boston Globe, among others, called on Frank to resign, but he refused. On July 19, 1990, the ethics committee recommended Frank be reprimanded because he "reflected discredit upon the House" by using his congressional office to fix 33 of Gobie's parking tickets. Attempts to expel or censure Frank failed; instead the House voted 408-18 to reprimand him. The fury in Washington was not shared in Frank's district, where he won reelection in 1990 with 66 percent of the vote, and has won by larger margins ever since.

Sen. Charles Robb (D-Va.)
On April 25, 1991, with NBC News about to go on the air with allegations he had an extramarital affair with Tai Collins, a former Miss Virginia, Robb made a preemptive strike. The Virginia Democrat, married to Lyndon Johnson's daughter, said he was with Collins in a hotel room, but all that took place was a massage over a bottle of wine. Collins, in a subsequent interview with Playboy, said they had been having an affair since 1983. It was thought that these charges, along with long-circulated but unproven allegations that Robb had attended Virginia Beach parties where cocaine was present, would jeopardize Robb's 1994 bid for re-election. But the GOP nominated Oliver North, the Iran-Contra figure who had his own credibility problems. Robb squeaked by with 46 percent in a three-way race.

Sen. Daniel Inouye (D-Hawaii)
In October 1992, Republican Senate nominee Rick Reed began running a campaign commercial that included a surreptitiously taped interview with Lenore Kwock, Inouye's hairdresser. Kwock said Inouye had sexually forced himself on her in 1975 and continued a pattern of sexual harassment, even as Kwock continued to cut his hair over the years. Inouye, seeking a sixth term, denied the charges. And Kwock said that by running the commercial, Reed had caused her more pain than Inouye had. Reed was forced to pull the ad, and while many voters took out their anger on the Republican, Inouye was held to 57 percent of the vote – the lowest total of his career. A week later, a female Democratic state legislator announced that she had heard from nine other women who claimed Inouye had sexually harassed them over the past decade. But the women didn't go public with their claims, the local press didn't pursue the story, and the Senate Ethics Committee decided to drop the investigation because the accusers wouldn't participate in an inquiry.

WHO CAN GET INVOLVED WITH THE UNIVERSAL ZULU NATION?

Anyone who believes in our goals and can thrive individually and in group settings should consider membership. We will consider working with any organization that believes as we do. This means that we will consider joint projects with the Nation of Islam, black churches, the urban league, or any other organization that exists to serve our community. We also encourage all women, senior citizens, and children to consider becoming members. The only way we can rise as a people is by forgetting our differences and looking again to our families, friend, and support systems, for solutions to problems (instead of watching for some other person to tell us what to do).

WHERE DID THE NAME 'ZULU NATION' COME FROM?

The Zulu Nation is a great South African tribe that became as empire under the leadership of Shaka Zulu, one of the greatest Zulu Chieftans (leaders).

WHAT DOES THE WORD 'ZULU' MEAN IN RELATION TO THE UNIVERSAL ZULU NATION?

The word means "the Heavens" and "strength in numbers".

WHAT DOES THE WORD 'AMAZULU' MEAN TO THE UNIVERSAL ZULU NATION?

The word Amazulu means "the people of Heaven".

WHAT IS THE UNIVERSAL ZULU NATION?

The Universal Zulu Nation is an organization of men, women, and youth which was founded in the United States by a Nubian (Black) man named Afrika Bambaataa. This organization has hundreds of chapters throughout the world. Its members, who came from many different races, cultures, nationalities, countries and religions believe in freedom, justice, equality, knowledge, wisdom and understanding. Zulu Nation members discourage divisions and want to see peace and unity on the planet earth with all races. Without these, we all face social, economic, physical and spiritual destruction. This is the Universal Zulu Nation.

WHEN AND WHERE WAS THE UNIVERSAL ZULU NATION FOUNDED?

The Universal Zulu Nation was founded in 1973 in the Bronx, New York, by a young student named Afrika Bambaataa. It was his idea to use music to spread the message of the Universal Zulu Nation. He knew that music is unversal and crosses all barriers. So with the birth of Hip-Hop, which started in New York City, Afrika Bambaataa, members of the Zulu Nation and many of his groups like; the Soulsonic Force, Shango, Rock Steady Crew, D.S.T., Fab Five Freddy, Phase 2, Dondi, and Futura 2000, started to travel throughout the world to spread Hip-Hop culture.

WHAT IS THE MISSION OF THE UNIVERSAL ZULU NATION?

As we are dedicated to improving and uplifting ourselves and our communities, all Zulu Nation members should be involved in some activity that is positive and gives back to the community. Hip-Hop music is our vehicle of expression. We can learn to write, produce, market, promote, publish, perform and televise our own music, for our own people. There are too many divisions between males and females. There are too many divisions between young adults and their parents and too many divisions between rich and poor-urban and suburban. Now is the time for us to build together as well as develop individually. All of the ills and problems that plague our community, we are going to address. We already know Hip-Hop and the Zulu Nation are here to stay. Both are over twenty years old and both exist and thrive across the world. Some of the projects we plan to organize and become involved with are:

canned food drives
tutoring sessions
home and building clean-ups
mentoring programs
neighborhood protection
seminars
conferences
newsletters
magazines
books
concerts
programs that close the gaps between the generations and the sexes

Idi Amin ....Africa's Brutal Islamist Dictator

The Last King of Scotland is being shown throught the world,
but what the movie seems to do is play down Amin's religious background.

Forest Whitaker is staring in the movie as the Ugandan dictator Idi Amin

The story is how a Scottish doctor became the personal physician to Ugandan President Idi Amin.

Idi Amin's conversion to Islam

Idi Amin was born as Idi Awo-Ongo Angoo in Kampala on May 17, 1928 to his father Andreas Nyabire (1889 – 1976) – an ethnic Kakwa and Catholic who converted to Islam in 1910 and changed his name to Amin Dada. Other sources say that Dada was not his father's name, but a nickname Amin acquired later.

Abandoned by his father, Idi Amin grew up with his maternal family. His mother, according to Guweddeko, was called Assa Aatte (1904 – 1970), an ethnic Lugbara and a traditional herbalist who among others treated members of Buganda royalty.

He joined an Islamic school in Bombo in 1941, where he excelled in reciting the Qur'an. After a few years he left the school, and did odd jobs before being recruited to the army by a British colonial army officer.

Idi Amin's connections to the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO)

Amin also had strong ties to the Palestine Liberation Organisation (PLO). The Israeli embassy was offered to them as headquarters; and Flight 139, the Air France Airbus hijacked from Athens on June 27, 1976 was invited by Amin to stop at Entebbe International Airport in the city of Entebbe, 32 km from Kampala. The hijackers demanded the release of 53 PLO and Red Army Faction prisoners in return for the 256 hostages and were assisted by Amin's troops. Amin visited the hostages more than once.

At midnight on July 3, 1976, Israeli commandos attacked the airport and freed all but two of the hostages. (One was killed by the Israeli forces, while another, 75-year-old Dora Bloch, who had been taken to a hospital before the rescue, was killed under Amin's direct orders by two army officers after the hostage rescue.) In the operation, Uganda's air force was badly crippled as its fighter jets were destroyed (see also Operation Entebbe).

The success of the Israeli operation largely contributed to his downfall, while increased resistance and sabotage operations crippled the nation during his final years. Partly on the basis of his "visions" and erratic behaviour, Idi Amin is often believed to have suffered from neurosyphilis: Deborah Hayden makes the case for this hypothesis in her Pox: Genius, Madness and the Mysteries of Syphilis.

History of Idi Amin

Idi Amin (c. 1924–August 16, 2003) was an army officer and President of Uganda (1971–1979). His tenure witnessed much sectarian violence, including the persecution of the Lango, and other ethnic groups as well as Christians in Uganda.

The death toll during Amin's regime will never be accurately known. An estimate from the International Commission of Jurists is that it was not less than 80,000 and more likely around 300,000. Another estimate, compiled by exile organisations with the help of Amnesty Internationl, put the number killed at 500,000.

He gave himself the title "His Excellency President for Life Field Marshal Al Hadji Dr. Idi Amin, VC, DSO, MC, King of Scotland, Lord of All the Beasts of the Earth and Fishes of the Sea and Conqueror of the British Empire in Africa in General and Uganda in Particular."

Little know facts about Idi Amin

1) He promised to hold elections within months . Shortly after taking power, however, Amin established the so-called "State Research Bureau," which were actually his own brand of death squads to hunt down and murder Obote's supporters as well as much of the intelligentsia, whom he distrusted.

Military leaders who had not supported the coup were executed, many by "beheading".

Obote took refuge in Tanzania, from where he attempted to regain the country through a military invasion in September, 1972, without success. Obote supporters within the Ugandan army, mainly from the Acholi and Lango tribes, were also involved in the invasion. Amin retaliated by bombing Tanzanian towns, and purging the army of Acholi and Lango officers. The ethnic violence grew to include the whole of the army, and then Ugandan civilians. As the violence increased, Amin became more and more paranoid, fearing a coup within his own government. The Nile Mansions Hotel in Kampala became infamous as Amin's interrogation and torture centre.

2)He had the the Christian Archbishop Janani Luwum slaughtered

3)He liked to refer to himself as "His Excellency Al-Hadji Field Marshal Dr. Idi Amin Dada, VC, DSO, MC, CBE, Life President of the Republic of Uganda"

4)When Idi Amin died the holy muslim nation of Saudi Arabia on August 16, 2003, aged 79, and was buried in Jeddah.

5)Given the slaughter and carnage this men left I wonder why Arab Saudi leaders would
protected him, after he killed so many people.

6)Amin was fond of racing cars (of which he owned several), boxing, and Disney cartoons. Many foreign journalists considered him a somewhat comical and eccentric figure; he was widely caricatured in the west as a murderous buffoon. There were also rumours that he was a cannibal, though this has never been proven.

7)He had his tunics specially lengthened so that he could wear many World War II medals, including the Military Cross and Victoria Cross. He granted himself a number of titles, including "King of Scotland". In 1977, after Britain broke diplomatic relations with his regime, Amin declared he had beaten the British and conferred on himself the decoration of CBE (Conqueror of the British Empire)

8) Henry Kyemba, Amin's Health Minister and a former official of the first Obote regime, had used travel for a World Health Organisation conference as a means of defecting after coming to fear for his own safety in Uganda. Resettled in Britain, Kyemba wrote and published A State of Blood, an account of Amin and his rule that destroyed any lingering comic or eccentric image still harboured about Amin.

Palestinians’ embracing hip-hop to push ‘perspective of the victims’

Members of R.F.M. perform in Gaza City

By Dion Nissenbaum

JewishWorldReview.com

AZA CITY — The wanna-be gangsta boys arrive in baggy jeans and oversized T-shirts bearing the likeness of rapper Tupac Shakur, looking for a chance to freestyle with the night's star performers. The groupie girls in glittery tops throw their hands in the air, cheering on the breakdancers, when the hip-hop party is brought to a screeching halt:

Time for evening prayer.

Across the Gaza Strip, West Bank and even in Israel, young Arabic rappers are trying to juggle Middle East traditions with contemporary Western culture to create a political voice for their generation.

"It's the CNN of Palestine," says Tamer Nafar, a way to broadcast the news. Nafar, a skinny 26-year-old, is helping to turn Arabic hip-hop into an international phenomenon.

As a movement in its infancy, Palestinian hip-hop shares more in common with early American rap than the narcissistic, modern-day mainstream hip-hop that dominates MTV.

Just as Public Enemy, N.W.A. and Ice-T created furors with songs such as "911 Is a Joke," "F-k Tha Police" and "Cop Killer," Palestinian rappers such as Nafar take a provocative, controversial approach.

Nafar and his group DAM ("blood" in Arabic and Hebrew) are pioneers in the Palestinian hip-hop scene. They've generated a loyal following among Israelis and Palestinians by singing in Hebrew and Arabic.

"The idea is to provoke critical thinking and encourage people to look at these issues from the perspective of the victims," says William Youmans, a Palestinian-American rapper who performs as the Iron Sheik.

Palestinian rap first blossomed in Israel, where Arab citizens like Nafar generally have greater freedom and opportunity than Palestinians living in the Israeli-[won] West Bank and Gaza Strip.

But the conservative Gaza Strip - where alcohol is all but banned, movie theaters are nearly nonexistent and Islam is a foundation for many families - is proving to be fertile new ground for hip-hop.

Over the past year, rap groups such as R.F.M. and P.R. have been gradually moving from their bedrooms to restaurants, theaters and social group stages with messages that resonate in a society where half the population is under the age of 18.

"We're making something new for Gaza," said Rami Bakhit, one of three rappers in Gaza City's R.F.M. "It's the only way to talk in the street language to the youth who are going to build the Palestinian state."

Their music is proving to have crossover appeal. At a recent R.F.M. concert in Gaza City, teenage boys with their oversized Tupac T-shirts danced next to reserved groups of women and girls in traditional Islamic headscarves and conservative dresses. One mother who came to chaperone her daughter said she was initially skeptical, but she warmed up to the music after listening to R.F.M.'s message.

Like DAM, R.F.M. focuses much of its music on the Israeli [military rule]. But the group also presents a scathing social critique of Palestinians who turn a blind eye to the problems surrounding them.

In perhaps its most controversial song, "Watch Your Back, Arabs," R.F.M. lashes out at Jews and Arabs.

"Where are the Arab people?
Where is the Arab blood?

Where is the Arab anger?

Where, where and where ...

Driving the coupe car

Smoking the cigar

Voting for the super star "American Idol"

And forgetting about our martyrs, wounded, prisoners. ... Have you heard the last news!?"

While many young Palestinians are embracing hip-hop, not everyone in the Gaza Strip sees rap as a welcome addition.

A recent rally to celebrate the end of Israeli military rule in the Gaza Strip, held amid the rubble of Israel's largest settlement, came to an abrupt end when supporters of the Islamic group Hamas stoned a young rap group on the stage.

"People got more religious during this uprising and they prefer to listen to Hamas songs," said Mohammed al Fara, one of the members of P.R. "They didn't like the music. Hamas guys were mostly upset because a lot of girls were excited about us and they were waving their hands as we sang."

It may take more time for hip-hop to gain broad acceptance in the conservative parts of the Gaza Strip. But it's gaining respectability and visibility around the world.

Detroit-based filmmaker Jackie Salloum is in the final stages of producing "SlingShot Hip Hop," a film she hopes to release next year that documents the rise of Palestinian rap.

"It's one of the most positive things I've seen over there," Salloum said in a telephone interview from Detroit. "Hip-hop is probably the most popular form of music around the world, and even if people aren't into the Palestinian struggle and the occupation itself, people are curious about Palestinian hip-hop."

Salloum sees the young rappers as new messengers.

"If our message about the occupation can't be carried across the world, maybe these artists can do it," she said.

- I wonder if the Islamist groups will allow Hip Hop artist to call there women bitches an hoes like they do here in the US.

I wonder how tough Hip Hop is in the middle east, I wonder if they
if they wil say.." fuck the jihadist"....like Ice Cube said "fuck the police".
Maybe the hip hop scene needs a real dose of West Coast /East Coast reality.

Black leftist groups have created this fake paradigm of victimolgy.
Ayaan Hirsi points out the obvious in this quote

“In socialist eyes whoever isn’t white or western is a victim, which thus defines Muslims, Palestinians and immigrants as such. My position is that I am not a victim. I am responsible for my actions like anybody else and so are all people.”

In an interview with the blogger Gay Patriot an cultura l observer explians it this way

Black leaders see the world through the prism of multicultural ideology. When they look at Islamists, all they can see are people of color who come from another culture (which of course is rich and fascinating and vibrant) and who are oppressed victims of the imperialist West. All of which, of course, points to the conclusion that blacks, as members of a fellow oppressed group, should be in solidarity with them against our common oppressors".

For such people, the fact that Islamists despise liberty and freedom â and, if they gained power in the West, would be quick to teach us all just what oppression really means â just does not compute. Their minds can not process it. Confront them with such facts, and theyâll respond by demonizing you.

Many leftists, including some black leaders, actually admire Islam for the same reason they once admired Soviet Communism â because it was the only ideology that will not knuckle under to American capitalism, which, in their eyes, is the worlds great evil.

White Kenyan tried for killing black man

By ELIZABETH A. KENNEDY
ASSOCIATED PRESS WRITER

NAIROBI, Kenya -- A descendant of Kenya's most famous white settlers fatally shot a black man on his vast estate simply because the man was poaching a gazelle, not because he posed any threat, a prosecutor said Monday in a case that has stirred racial tensions in East Africa.

Prosecutor Keriako Tobiko offered revenge as the motive at the start of the murder trial of Thomas Cholmondeley, 38, who says the May shooting was in self-defense. He could face the death penalty if convicted.

The case marks the second time in just over a year that Cholmondeley killed a black man on the family's sprawling farm in the Rift Valley - a region dubbed "Happy Valley" because of the decadent lifestyles of its colonial settlers. Charges were dropped in the earlier case, prompting protests that Cholmondeley got special treatment.

"The accused attacked the deceased and his companions as retaliation or revenge for trespassing and poaching," Tobiko said as he outlined the prosecution's case in a hushed courtroom. "The deceased was running away when he was shot by the accused."

Educated at Eton, one of Britain's most exclusive schools, Cholmondeley showed no emotion as he sat with his legs crossed and hands clasped. His trial was expected to last five days.

Sitting 20 feet from Cholmondeley was Serah Njoya, the widow of 37-year-old Robert Njoya, who died en route to the hospital after being hit by a single bullet from a high-powered hunting rifle. She made no eye contact with Cholmondeley or his relatives in the courtroom.

Serah Njoya testified that she first heard her husband was missing when his companions came running from Cholmondeley's farm after hearing gunshots and asked if he had made it home.

"I waited the whole night, but he never turned up," she said.

One of the companions, Peter Gichuhi Njuguna, testified he and another man had accompanied Njoya to the farm to check on traps they had set for animals. Njoya was armed with a machete, a club and a small piece of metal, Njuguna said. The men also had six dogs with them, he said.

The three found a gazelle in a trap and gutted it, then heard a gunshot, Njuguna said.

"After the first one we started running," he said, adding that he heard "three or four" shots after that. He said the men went in different directions and he never saw Njoya again.

Defense lawyer Fred Ojiambo said Cholmondeley's estate is often invaded by trespassers and poachers, who are prosecuted lawfully - suggesting that his client would not have fired without cause.

Last year, a murder case against Cholmondeley was dropped after high-level government intervention, enraging Kenyans who say he received special treatment. Cholmondeley said he mistook an undercover game warden for a robber in that shooting.

Both cases have exposed deep tensions about the British presence in Kenya, with many citizens resentful that the best land was taken over by the British government during colonial times. After Kenya's independence in 1963, many departing settlers transferred land to Africans, with Britain underwriting some of the costs.

Some settlers, including Cholmondeley's family, kept their land and became Kenyan citizens. But now, an increasing number of Kenyans are saying the land simply doesn't belong to whites.

Cholmondeley is the great-grandson of the third Baron Delamere, one of Kenya's first major white settlers more than a century ago. The farm, to which Cholmondeley is the only heir, is largely ungated and has been estimated to be anywhere from 50,000 to 100,000 acres.

The case has received intense media scrutiny because of Cholmondeley's aristocratic heritage and his grandfather's place in Kenyan lore. The fourth Baron Delamere was married to Diana Broughton, whose lover was shot in the head on the outskirts of Nairobi in the 1940s.

Broughton's first husband, Jock Broughton, was tried for murder and acquitted, an episode that inspired the book "White Mischief," which also was made into a 1987 film starring Charles Dance and Greta Scacchi. The book highlighted the free-spending, often alcoholic ways of some of the early colonialists in Kenya.

White landowners in recent years have complained about increasing crime, saying they feel threatened on their isolated holdings in Kenya's fertile plains. In January, renowned British wildlife filmmaker Joan Root was fatally shot in her home in the Rift Valley.

-They will kill him in jail, I think they should at least send him out of the country

No More Excuses ....Mr. Allen

Third person says Sen. Allen used racial slur

RICHMOND, Va. —
A noted political scientist joined two of Sen. George Allen's former acquaintances in claiming the senator used a racial slur to refer to blacks in the early 1970s, a claim Allen dismisses as "ludicrously false."

I am getting real sick of Senator Allen's excuses,

Personaly I think he is not telling the truth,
If I were voting in VA, I would not vote.

I am Republican but my values keep me from voting for any candidate who has serious racial issues.

I would respect Allen more if he admitted what he did
and explained the context, that would have been
enough for some people, not me but some.

"Maccaca" the word he stummbled upon
is not some word he found by mistake
and now three other people say he used the "n" word.

He says he never used the "N" word now as a person born
in Virginian I know that most white people born before
the 80's at some point used th word, so for him
to say he never used the word is soem what skeptical.

Allen may even lose the senate if he does
so what!

I am sick of these guys who make it up the Republican chanin
with out any problems, that's why we need more African American
in the party to scope these guys out.

No party should have a closeted racist in it.

Some of my Democrat friends see this as proof
of why one should not join the GOP.

But if you want to fix and move and mold something
you have to be a part of it.

That is what the religious communities did, back in the 80's
even though most were traditional democrat they swicthed
and made the Republicans Party there own.

Blacks did this in the 60's with the DNC,
and there is no reason why we can not do it today.

Black civil rights leaders wanted blacks to have
the vote not a rubber stamp vote.

I can not believe I volunteered for his campaign in 2000,
it was only for one day.

Bob Marley Live Theology Interview

Bob Marley Live interview about "TRUTH" for the use of herb and and a short clip of "His Imperial Majesty Haile Selassie I King of Kings, Lord of Lords, Conquering Lion of the Tribe of Judah" coronation. There is a blip in this about halfway thru..

"(..)why this people who want us so much good for everyone, who call dem selfs goverments and this and that and that why do they say: you must not use the herb?(..)you musn´t use it, you musn´t use it because it makes you rebel..agaisn´t what?..."

-Bob Marley

". . . thou shalt eat the herb of the field " (Genesis 3:18) ". . . eat every herb of the land " (Exodus 10:12)

"Better is a dinner of herb where love is, than a stalled ox and hatred therewith" (Proverbs 15:17)

I am no religious scholar but smkoing herb and eating it are two different things.

The priest in the video is an Arc bishop who changed 50,0000 rastafarians into the church before he died. He was also the godfather of Bob Marley.

Quote Of The Day

"From the behavior and actions of black leaders, one would think that a radical shift in the country's demographic make-up would have no impact on the lives of blacks. In fact, they would have us believe that decades of mass immigration that is bringing about the 'browning' of America is having no impact on any aspect of American life.....So many blacks and their white liberal gurus failed to appreciate those Anglo-originated laws based on 'self-evident truths' and the consent of the governed, which were flexible enough to take under their protection the nation's former slaves. Who will there be to insure that jobs and scholarships and government contracts, and the surfeit of other entitlements, will be available for a people who have grown used to looking to others for slices from the economic pie, instead of baking their own share of it? Once what's left of constitutional law is gone, partly out of neglect, because the story of the Constitution and its creators will no longer be taught in the various Chinese-Indian-Latino-Arab colored school systems, a new corner will be turned.

If blacks think they've been mistreated at the hands of whites, just wait until the affirmative action, set aside party is over -- when there is no one to insist that they get undeserved perks, or have a 'right' to intrude themselves into places where they are not wanted. The new dominant ethnics come to this land with their own sob stories of oppression. Unlike whites, they are hardly likely to fall over one another to apologize for past wrongs. Nor are they likely to spend their time in Congress concocting new laws designed to discriminate against their own sons and daughters in favor of blacks."

Muslim Nations Want Virtue over Choice

Muslim Nations love to brag that there nations are beacons for moral cleanliness any sociologist woud find great suspicion with such wild eyes claims.

The Muslim nations brag that they have lower rates of adultery, homosexuality, drug use,
fornication, sexual diseases, and so on.

WELL DUH !!!!! that's because they stone, beat and kill people who participate in such acts.
that's not a nation of virtue that's a horror show!

A true virtuous nation like America gives it's people choices and from these choices good or bad we learn to appreciate what is good from what is bad.

Iraq War Breeds Terror Myth

The Iraq War started in 2003 to the present, what most leftist who oppose
the war in Iraq and acedmics fail to mention is that before the war
radical Islam was already killing hundreds and no one was confronting
them.

The Iraq war may have brought the terriost out of there home
countries to fight in Iraq, but that does not mean the war created these
monsters. These monsters exist already, they were already there, plotting
and waiting, Bush did not create more terrioist he just brought them
out the brought out of the woodwork, and thank God he did because
now that they are in Iraq they are not hurting other people in there homeland.

If the terriosit were not in Iraq where would they be?

Would they be home reading the paper, and sipping
ice tea?

Below is a list and link to a site that has monitored press releases concurning
attacks by radical Islamist, what shoud be noted is that many of these
thugs were killing before the war in Iraq.

12/31/02 Philippines

Grenade hurled by Islamic fundamentalist at a crowd of people celebrating the new year kills ten and injures about twenty.

-Before Iraq War

12/30/02
Yemen, Jibla

Muslim gunman posing as a father carrying a child kills three American humanitarian workers at a missionary hospital and wounds one other.

-Before Iraq War

12/26/02

Philippines, Mindanao

Muslim rebels ambush employees of a Canadian company. Twelve civilians are killed and ten injured.

-Before Iraq war

12/25/02 Daska, Pakistan

Christmas grenade attack on a Christian church kills three girls and injures fourteen young women.

-Before Iraq War

12/14/02

Algeria, Sidi Baizid

Three shepherds are abducted by Islamic militants. They are found dead, with their throats slit.

-Before the Iraq War

This list, of over 5,000 terrorist attacks committed by Muslims since 9/11/01 (a rate better than three per day), is incomplete because only a small percentage of attacks were picked up by international news sources, even those involving multiple loss of life. We included an attack if it was committed by Muslims in the name of Islam, and usually only if loss of life occurred (with a handful of exceptions where there were a very large number of injuries). In several cases, the victims are undercounted because deaths from trauma caused by the Islamists may occur in later days, despite the best efforts of medical personnel to keep the victims alive.

Allen campaign responds to “N-word” allegations Update: “Ludicrously false”

Salon used one named source and two corroborating anonymous sources. Allen HQ fires back with four named sources who claim not only never to have heard Allen use a racial slur but who dispute the origin of Shelton’s team nickname and the reason Shelton gave for Allen’s matriculation at UVA. Henke’s post lays out the whole point-counterpoint.

It sounds like Salon contacted the two anonymous sources, not vice versa. (Although it’s not entirely clear.) If they had come to Salon with the story it would smack of a coordinated campaign to discredit Allen, but if they didn’t, then what? We’re to believe both sources are so amoral, mendacious, and politically opportunistic that they’d be willing and able to field a phone call from a reporter out of the blue and falsely corroborate a vicious smear?

Knowing that if their names leaked out, they’d be the target of political reprisals? Sounds strange to me.

I’m agnostic thus far but Mary K’s
skeptical of the Salon article. Go see what you think.

Update: The Senator is
not happy.

-Wow looks like the Democrats are going to turn Allen into the Racist of the Year

Tupac "Dear Mama" Music Video

If there are lyrics which articulate the psychology of black urban despair this Tupac "Dear Mama" captures it beautifully!

LYRICS

When I was young, me and my mama had beef
17 years old kicked out on tha streets
though back in tha time, I never thought I'd see her face
ain't a woman alive that can take my momma's place
suspended from school, scared ta go home
I was a fool with tha big boys breaking all tha rules
shed tears with my baby sister
over tha years we wuz poorer than tha other little kids
and even though we had different daddies
tha same drama when things went wrong we blamed mama
I reminised on tha stress I caused, it wuz hell
hugg'en on my mama from a jail cell
and who'ed think in elementary, heeeey i'd see tha penitentiary
One day
running from tha Police, that's right
Momma catch me--put a whoop'en to my backside
and even as a crack fiend mama,
ya always was a black queen mama
I finally understand for a woman
it ain't easy--trying ta raise a man
ya always wuz commited, a poor single mother on welfare,
tell me how ya did it
there's no way I can pay ya back
but tha plan is ta show ya that I understand.
you are appreciated......

Chorus
Laaaaady, don't cha know we luv ya
Sweeeet Laaaady, place no one above ya
Sweeeet Laaaady, don't cha know we luv ya

Ain't nobody tell us it wuz fair
no luv for my daddy, cause tha coward wuzn't there
he passed away and I didn't cry
cause my anger, wouldn't let me feel for a stranger
they say i'm wrong and i'm heartless
but all along I wuz looking for a father--he wuz gone
I hung around with tha thug's and even though they sold drugs
they showed a young brother luv
I moved out and started really hang'in
I needed money of my own so I started slang'in
I ain't guilty cause, even though I sell rocks
It feels good, putting money in your mailbox
I love paying rent when tha rents due
I hope ya got tha diamond necklace that I sent to you
cause when I wuz low, you was there for me
ya never left me alone, cause ya cared for me
and I can see ya coming home after work late
ya in tha kitchen trying ta fix us a hot plate
just working with tha scraps you wuz given
and mama made miracles every Thanksgiving
but now tha road got rough, your alone
trying ta raise two bad kids on your own
and there's no way I can pay ya back
but my plan is ta show ya that I understand
you are appreciated.....

Chorus
Laaaaady, don't cha know we luv ya
Sweeeet Laaaady, place no one above ya
Sweeeet Laaaady, don't cha know we luv ya

pour out some liquor and I remenise
cause through tha drama, I can always depend on my mama
and when it seems that i'm hopeless
you say tha words that can get me back in focus
when I wuz sick as a little kid
ta keep me happy theres no limit to tha things ya did
and all my childhood memories
are full of all tha sweet things ya did for me
and even though I act craaaazy
I got ta thank tha Lord that ya maaaade me
There are no words that can express how I feel
Ya never kept a secret, always stayed real
and I appreciate how ya raised me
and all tha extra love that ya gave me
I wish I could take tha pain away
If you can make it through tha night, there's a brighter day
everything'll be alright if ya hold on
it's a struggle
everyday gotta roll on
and there's no way I can pay ya back
but my plan is ta show ya that I understand
you are appreciated.......

Mugabe Lying To Himself

-The Zimbabwean native, who now lives in exile in Britain, emailed this op-ed to Booker Rising:

After the so-called crushing of the ZCTU protests [two weeks ago] and the mass arrests and near murder that followed; surely ZANU PF could be lying to themselves if they say the mass action was not a success. Like in the past there are so many positives that have emerged from this from all the madness with which ZANU PF confronted this latest action by the people.

I am totally against the near murder of our leaders in Zimbabwe but for the first time in the history of this new revolution we are now seeing a leadership so prepared in confronting the regime. And look at a government that is so prepared to embarrass itself by fighting against the defenceless. It is also ironic that they chose to do so at a time when their President, Robert Mugabe was attending the Non Aligned Movement Summit in Cuba.

One will see the preparedness of ZANU PF not only to butcher its own people but to move away from the very core principles of NAM which are to promote the sustenance of peace: through the acquisition of freedom for all! What Zimbabwe shamelessly did was first to show that they will deny that freedom to their citizens and secondly make sure that the form of peace they will be given will be “silence”. Yet like I said there is a clear show that this has strengthened the resolve of the oppressed masses even further, and now Zimbabweans all over the world are more determined to liberate themselves than the oppressor is determined to oppress them.

Not that we have never protested before, no. Not that we have never seen the wanton beating of people and mass arrests; no. I for one have been beaten up, arrested, and messed up in several ways in these protests; and so are the comrades that I can single out; Patson Muzuwa who is now here in the UK, Innocent Mupara, Nkululekho Sibanda, Dhewa Mavhima, Tendai Mutyambizi-Dewa, Crispen Kulinji, Tom Tawanda Spicer, Durani Rapozo, Elliot Pfebve etc all currently in the UK and departed comrades who died from the sword of the enemy again through these mass actions such as Tonderai Machiridza, Edward Mukwasi, Appleby Kokoba; Ropafadzo, Talent Mabika, Tichaona Chiminya, Effildah Pfebve, Trymore Midzi etc. But in the past it wasn’t the leaders who were at the front, it was others and so at that time because of what was happening around us, and the reluctance of the leadership to be in front, some decided they had to leave since they thought the leadership didn’t believe in the struggle they were telling us about. But things change, some of them very fast. We now seem to have a positive leadership; very proactive in the struggle and so ZANU PF has been shaken to the apex of its madness; left, right and centre they can show the full nakedness of their decadent political ideologies; not only the thighs, not only the pants but of course the full view of the genitals too! It’s not the zip that is down anymore, the pants are down as well!

The thing is Zimbabweans have been too long in the queue and no amount of force can be used to turn them away at the gate, they are demanding their freedom and they are doing it with a force never shown before. There is a sudden resurgence of the spirit of Zimbabwe, that realisation that we are our own liberators and now there is no turning back. Events last week in Zimbabwe followed positive events in the UK for example were the MDC External Province of the UK successfully held a Congress to elect a new leadership. This is unparalleled in the history of Zimbabwe, not even ZANU and ZAPU during the liberation struggle managed to have such vibrant structures in Europe! This is a clear sign that the struggle we are fighting is inheritable; it is capable of a legacy and the legatees are there in the Diaspora. A cause that is inheritable is not capable of defeat and this is why the inheritable cause that was the First Chimurenga or Umvukela became the fire that the Second Chimurenga was and that fire was never extinguished. The same goes for the ANC, formed in 1912, it was five years before the birth of its most popular hero Nelson Mandela in 1917. Needless to say the struggle would later identify with him fifty years on with the Rivonia Trials in 1962 and the miracle that his story became with his ascendancy to be the first black President of South Africa in 1994.

Robert Mugabe on Wednesday didn’t even use his regular police forces to crush what he thought was dissent; he didn’t even have the power to summon them because they too are fed up with a decadent rhetoric that roams houseless in the battle for hearts and minds. He used an equally decadent product, the Youth Militia or Green Bombers who have been taught to rape their own mothers and sisters shamelessly in broad daylight. They had the temerity of kicking an elderly and defenceless woman such as Mai Lucia Matibenga. That Mugabe has resorted to that kind of behaviour is of course not good for an octogenarian but nevertheless shows the desperation that the government back home is in. They think the incidents will frighten people to back down. By nearly murdering Matombo, Chibhebhe, Matibenga, Raymond Majongwe, Thabitha Khumalo etc they are trying to sound the same for Morgan Tsvangirai, Isaac Matongo, Thokozani Khupe and the other MDC leaders since they have all promised to lead from the front. They are trying to say that they too will face ZANU PF’s full wrath.

They are thinking that if they kill those people then the fire is extinguished. No, the fire is not extinguished by removing the flame! You have to extinguish the source of the fire. For if you do not do that only one fan is enough to rekindle it. The struggle for Zimbabwe is now capable of re-kindling itself; there are legatees all over ready to take over even if the current crop of leadership is disappeared. There are several young activists both in Zimbabwe and in the Diaspora: Remember Moyo, Harris Nyatsanza, Lynnette Mhlanga, Wellington Chibhanguza, Linder Mtimbanyoka, Alois Phiri, Yeukai Taruvinga, Tendai Mutyambizi-Dewa, Vincent and Jameson Mashakada, Innocent Kanjedzana etc all of these young people are a generation of leaders who may not even be 30 years of age and they are capable of assuming leadership if all of us are killed in the struggle and because the retirement age is sixty-five; they each have more than thirty-five years to carry on the fight on behalf of us. Mugabe is panicking because people power is being unleashed onto him. He can not withstand anymore and he has begun repeating the same mistakes that put him in the place he is today; the disproportionate use of force. I can recount them: the Gukurahundi massacres of the 1980s which was the disproportionate application of force against twenty-two military renegades whose main purpose was to protest against unequal treatment in the army. The right thing would have been to call for a military commission to investigate these allegations but his reaction: the demotion and eventual dismissal of all senior army officers who were ex-members of ZIPRA, the sacking of all serving PF-ZAPU cabinet ministers and the dissolution of the government of national unity; the mass arrests of all leaders of ZAPU; the unleashing of Gukurahundi in Matabeleland followed by the atrocities there. Result; ever unhealing suspicion between Ndebele and Shona in Zimbabwe, ever-present tension in Ndebele and Shona relations in Zimbabwe; Matabeleland politically became a no go area for anything Robert Mugabe and talk of an Ndebele homeland became a stark necessity. Mistake number one for Robert Mugabe.

Mistake number two; so-called Unity Accord in 1987. Failed to cease the opportunity for political posturing and make Joshua Nkomo the first post Unity President; instead Nkomo was just a senior minister. Result the Unity was a stillborn baby.

Mistake three; after a successful campaign to end apartheid in South Africa and to stop the civil wars in Mozambique and Angola; he failed to cease the opportunity and resign. Result; the emergence of a Nelson Mandela whose style of leadership would be revolutionary and would change the very concept of leadership in the entire world. Mugabe was overshadowed.

Mistake number four; at ZANU PF Congress in 1999, he failed to read the changing times and make John Nkomo the president of ZANU PF and possibly Zimbabwe. Nkomo then was riding the crest as a no-nonsense minister having fired corrupt mayors and under-performing governors as the Minister for Local Government. Such leadership renewal would have neutralised the then new political party MDC.

Mistake number five; used violence against MDC supporters in 2000. The party was still young and not a real threat but people begun to sympathise with it. As a result the ZANU PF approach negated it in the eyes of traditional supporters who then went in droves to MDC in protest. As a result MDC won 57 seats, by far better than even the predictions of its leaders who had thought MDC would manage between 20-40 seats.

Mistake number six, he ignored advice even from the likes of Chenjerai Hunzvi and Border Gezi after the 2000 parliamentary elections that violence against the opposition should cease as it was time for nation-building. Violence continued at the instigation of Robert Mugabe; commercial agriculture was destroyed and the country slid further into chaos.

Mistake number seven, he refused to allow international observers to observe the 2002 Presidential Elections. Anyone who has monitored elections before knows that EU Election observers and any other international observers are really useless as they in fact do not monitor anything. They will always come to the verdict that elections were free and fair even where rigging is there for everyone to see. This is why Ugandan and Nigerian elections received the free and fair verdicts even though local independent observers were stating otherwise. Mugabe himself knows how the West rushed to congratulate him for winning freely and fairly in the 1996 Presidential elections where he contested against himself after the Reverend Ndabaningi Sithole and Bishop Muzorewa had pulled out citing an unfair playing field.

The recent mistake has of course been Operation Murambatsvina which has turned virtually every living Zimbabwean against Robert Mugabe. All the Robert Mugabe mistakes have been the disproportionate response to very simple things and each time he does that he creates more enemies. It is now clear that pain is being used as a method of intimidation. But just as is happening in Matabeleland where the sons and daughters of those killed have decided to carry on with the struggle and are demanding even more than what the generation before them was demanding; then the people of Matabeleland and the Midlands were demanding to be taken as people, for Mugabe to stop subjecting them to a police state; such simple things. He thought he silenced them by unleashing Gukurahundi on that generation. The current generation has evolved and are demanding even more; they are demanding the birth of the nation of Mthwakazi; thanks to Mugabe they have been radicalised and not softened. The same for the other crop of activists; the current generation of opponents are demanding free and fair elections, democracy, dignity for their women and right to work and sustainable pay and worker rights for their workers. Mugabe is beating them out of these legitimate demands. But the next generation sees their leaders being humiliated; they are being radicalised and will not stop at demanding the above, no. They will demand the death of Robert Mugabe and his cronies. The next generation is being radicalized and their anger will not stop with Thabo Mbeki’s diplomacy, no! Their anger will be absolute, reverberating across the world and not even the sweet tongue of the UN Secretary General would stop them. They may only be stopped by the intervention of the UN blue berets.

What's Prejudice?

WALTER E. WILLIAMS COMMENTARY: What's Prejudice?

The libertarian economist opines: "Its Latin root is praejudicium, meaning 'an opinion or judgment formed...without due examination.' Thus, we might define prejudicial acts as decision-making on the basis of incomplete information. In a world of costly information, people seek to economize on information costs. Imagine heading off to work, you open your front door, only to be greeted by a full-grown tiger. The uninteresting prediction is the average person would slam the door or otherwise seek safety. Why they do so is more interesting. It's unlikely that person's decision is based on any detailed information held about that particular tiger. More likely his decision is based on tiger folklore or how he's seen other tigers behave. He prejudges, or stereotypes, that tiger.

"Professor Williams continues his commentary: "In the late 1990s, the Washington, D.C., taxi commissioner warned cabbies against going into low income black neighborhoods and picking up 'dangerous looking" passengers whom she described as young black males dressed a certain way. A few years ago, some St. Louis, Mo., pizza deliverers were complaining about delivering pizzas to black neighborhoods. Can one say anything unambiguous about cabbies' or pizza deliverers' likes or dislikes for blacks?

In the case of the taxi commissioner's warnings, the commissioner was black and so were most of the cabbies, and 75 to 85 percent of the complaining pizza deliverers were black.

Are they racists?

What about Rev. Jesse Jackson who once admitted that he is often relieved when the youths he hears walking along the street behind him turn out to be white, not black?

Is he a racist?....No one says that all young black males, not even a majority, pose a threat, but people are assigning probabilities. Such an assignment differs little from a physician, knowing that incidences of cardiovascular diseases are 30 percent higher among blacks than whites and prostate cancer is twice as high, giving his black patients more careful screening for these two diseases.

Like the cabbies, pizza deliverers and Rev. Jackson, the physician is engaging in what some have called racial profiling -- using race as an indicator of something else. For analytical purposes, it's important to correctly identify behavior. Asserting that a particular behavior reflects racial likes and dislikes, which it could, when in fact it does not, is to mislead and confound whatever problem or issue one is addressing."

How Black Republicans Can Win ?

Okay so as I have been watching the "black Republican"campaign trail and here are my suggestions for winning.

No black Republican should run as a pro life, hallelujah conservative unless he wants to be Alan Keyes and lose.

The only way for Republicans to penetrate black urban America
is to offer a candidate that is moderate..case closed.

Rule One: Run as a Moderate and vote like One....Kenneth Blackwell Vs Steele shows how black Republicans must be moderate.

Rule Two: Be familiar to the public, have political experince -Lynn Swann may not be able to carry Pennsylvania because of a lack of political experience

Rule Three: Use the Powell , McCain, Steele Doctrine....Remmber you will always need a small number of white democrats, and independents, so be able to have respect from both parties, secondly be real, no fake stuff.

AND TO PROVE MY POINT

In an election for U.S. Senator in Maryland today, 9/20/06, Republican Michael Steele and Democrat Ben Cardin are effectively tied, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted exclusively for WMAR-TV Baltimore and WUSA-TV Washington, D.C. 7 weeks to the 11/7/06 election, Steele gets 48% and Cardin gets 47%.

Steele's one-point advantage is within the poll's 4.4% margin of sampling error and may or may not be statistically meaningful. 54% of whites vote for Republican Steele, the same percentage who vote for the Republican Ehrlich in the MD Governor's race.

But: Steele, who is black, gets 33% of the black vote, more than twice the black support that Ehrlich gets. 10% of Republicans cross-over to vote Democrat. 22% of Democrats cross-over to vote Republican.

Independents break for Steele by 6 points. Cardin's support is slightly older than Steele's. Steele's support is slightly younger than Cardin's. A Steele win would greatly improve the Republicans' chances of keeping control of the U.S. Senate in 2007. Steele is Maryland's Lieutenant Governor. Cardin represents Maryland's 3rd CD in the U.S. House of Representatives. Incumbent Democratic Senator Paul Sarbanes is retiring after 30 years in office.

Son of Kweisi Mfume Bakcing Steele???

Son of Kweisi Mfume Makes Unexpected Appearance at Steele Event

Baltimore (AP) - U.S. Senate candidate Michael Steele had a surprise visitor Thursday while campaigning with Democrats in Baltimore. Michael Mfume, one of Kweisi Mfume's sons, appeared at the Eubie Blake National Jazz Institute and Cultural Center after Steele held a press conference with Baltimore Democrats and other Steele supporters.

When asked if his appearance represented his father's support for Steele, the younger Mfume didn't say yes or no. Instead, he quoted a Billie Holliday song describing how a son makes his own decisions. Several Democrats stood with Steele at the event, including Baltimore attorneys Billy Murphy and Dwight Pettit. Murphy says he embraces Steele's vision for Maryland, which he says isn't the same as the President's vision.

Black Democrats Back Michael Steele

By S.A. Miller

BALTIMORE -- Prominent black Democrats yesterday bucked their party to support Lt. Gov. Michael S. Steele -- the Republican nominee in Maryland's U.S. Senate race.

"Like so many people who have come out today, I'm sick and tired of being taken for granted by the Democratic Party," said William H. "Billy" Murphy Jr., a Baltimore civil rights lawyer who hosted the "Steele Democrats" event at the Eubie Blake National Jazz Institute and Cultural Center.

"I'm sick and tired of being relied upon for support but not respected as a leader," Mr. Murphy said. "It pains me that I would stand here ... today in rejection of my party's refusal to embrace us in its leadership. But I am happy to be doing that for Michael Steele."

A surprise for Mr. Steele came from the son of Kweisi Mfume, a past president of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People who lost last week's Democratic primary to U.S. Rep. Benjamin L. Cardin.

Michael Mfume, a producer of the horror film "Ax 'Em" and an active supporter of his father's campaign, told reporters at the Eubie Blake center that he did not speak for his father.
"There is a saying by Billie Holiday. It goes: 'A mother may have. A poppa may have. But God bless a child that has its own,'" he said.

A spokeswoman for Kweisi Mfume said that he did not know about his son's plans to support Mr. Steele, who is the first black elected to statewide office in Maryland.
Kweisi Mfume, who voiced support for Mr. Cardin in his concession speech but has not actively campaigned for him, has said the Democratic "bosses" shunned his campaign in favor of Mr. Cardin's.

"This is nothing new," said Baltimore lawyer A. Dwight Pettit, a black Democrat at the Steele event.

He said that state party leaders rejected his run for Baltimore state's attorney in 1978 and his nomination for U.S. attorney by President Carter in 1976 in support of white candidates.

"We are on a national stage right now in Maryland to show that if the Republican Party reaches out to African-American communities, they are not foreclosed on immediately," he said. "The question is: What has the Democratic Party done for the African-American community?"
Mr. Steele said he wanted his campaign to bridge Maryland's racial and political divide.
STEELE UPDATE
-Just last night WMAR-TV in Baltimore released a poll done by SurveyUSA giving Steele a one point lead 48% - 47%, and more importantly showing him receiving 33% of the African-American vote. That 33% number is more than double the 15% African-American support for Republican Governor Bob Ehrlich in the same poll.
While Maryland Democrats are working hard to paper over any lingering animosity from the primary, Mfume's much closer than expected loss (the final was 43.5 %- 40.6%) has produced a quiet bitterness in parts of the black political community toward Cardin and the Md. Dem establishment. With the Ehrlich - O'Malley race for Governor likely to tighten and be extremely close at the finish, if Steele can maintain that 30%+ support among black voters this race becomes a total toss up.

National Black republicans Stupid Radio Ad

KRISTEN WYATT
Associated Press

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - A national black Republican group is running a radio advertisement accusing Democrats of starting the Ku Klux Klan and saying they have "bamboozled" black voters.

Lt. Gov. Michael Steele, the black Republican nominee for Maryland's open U.S. Senate seat, disavowed the ad Thursday and called for the Washington-based National Black Republican Association to stop running it. In a statement, he said it was "insulting to Marylanders and should come down immediately."

The ad does not mention Steele or his Democratic opponent, Rep. Ben Cardin.

The president of the NBRA, Frances Rice, did not return calls for comment.

It was not immediately clear on which stations the 60-second ad was airing or how long it had been running, although a news release on the group's Web site dated two weeks ago announced its release. The Washington Post reported for a story in Thursday's editions that the ad was running on Baltimore stations.

The spot, a conversation between two women, includes one saying, "Democrats passed those black codes and Jim Crow laws. Democrats started the Ku Klux Klan." "The Klan?" the other woman replies. "White hoods and sheets?"

The first woman also says, "Democrats fought all civil rights legislation from the 1860s to the 1960s. Democrats released those vicious dogs and fire hoses on blacks."

The ad asserts that "Democrats want to keep us poor while voting only Democrat" and, "Democrats want us to accept same-sex marriages, teen abortions without a parent's consent and suing the Boy Scouts for saying 'God' in their pledge."

About the GOP, the ad says "Republicans freed us from slavery and put our right to vote in the constitution."

The national black Republican group was founded a year ago to "be a resource for the black community on Republican ideals and promote the traditional values of the black community," according to its Web site.

Race is a prominent theme in the Maryland race for the seat held by the retiring Sen. Paul Sarbanes, D-Md. Steele, the first black candidate elected statewide in Maryland, faces a white Democrat in a heavily Democratic state with the highest percentage of black residents - 29 percent - of any state outside the South. Cardin fired a staffer last week who made racially charged comments on her personal Web log about Steele, a black campaign worker and Cardin's Jewish supporters.

Several Maryland black Democrats have endorsed Cardin, including former congressman Kweisi Mfume, who narrowly lost the Democratic primary last week to Cardin. But Steele has announced plans to seek the votes of black Democrats and planned to attend a rally Thursday in Baltimore to seek their support.

-The National Black Republican Association leans very right in many ways. They have no idea how this has hurt Steele's cmapaign.

I think he will survive but next time they need to ask befor they put out ads like this one. I heard the ads a week ago and posted on them. The NBRA has to understand the geo poltical make up of a reigion where democrats out number Republicans.
Steele needs democratsto win, he needs white and black democrats.

How could the NBRA be so stupid?

In many ways with Cardin now leading by 7 points expect taht numbe to rise.
before they bring ads like this in a campaign.

Steele is trying to get black democrats to vote for him, this ad turns them away. Having two girls talking ghetto at a nail salon is not the way to do this.

The ad was offensive and should be taken down.I had a bad feeling about the NBRA leanings, most black republican candidates need nmoderate support.

That is why I will support the more moderate realistic Black Gop groups..like The Alliance GOP which is much more moderate

New Group...Muslims 4 America...

Muhammad Ali Hasan has always maintained that he is extremely lucky to be living in today’s world, mainly because he is American and Muslim. At minimum, America’s foreign policy, for the next 25 years, will revolve around issues within the Muslim World, whether it be terrorism or problems of peace. Thus, it is imperative that our politicians have the strongest understanding of Islam, in their efforts to recruit the citizens of the Muslim World against the terrorists; and certainly, America’s most valuable ally today is its American Muslims, themselves.

Muslims For America is dedicated to bringing more American Muslims into our political system, for the purpose of making sure that our foreign policy is written with an understanding of Islam, with a spirit of cooperation and peace. In doing so, Muslims For America has dedicated itself to working with the Republican National Committee, in setting up American Muslim Republican Caucuses all over America, state by state, in addition to building relations with the Democratic Party.

Bipartisan in nature, Muslims For America deeply believes that our best foreign policy plans can mature from both the Republican Party and Democratic Party, which is why it remains the group’s greatest goal to forever unite American Muslims with both parties. Should both parties claim the strongest understanding and insight into the world of Islam, then they will continually produce the best foreign policy decisions possible. A marriage that will benefit the Republican Party, the Democratic Party, America’s Muslims, and most importantly, the American people, themselves.

Muslims For America has zero tolerance for any kind of terrorism, in following the example left by Prophet Muhammad PBUH, and we celebrate any major decision made to eradicate the terrorist element from this great Earth. The War On Terror will be won most efficiently if we continue to work with the Muslims who want to work with us. Muslims For America plans to continue solidifying such bridges.

Mayor Bloomberg's New Plan To Fight Poverty

The NY Sun reports on Mayor Mike Bloomberg's new plan to fight poverty: cash rewards.

Poor New Yorkers could get cash rewards if they make choices that will help them move out of poverty, such as staying in school or taking higher education courses, as part of the sweeping array of programs to reduce poverty Mayor Bloomberg announced yesterday...

The cash payments plan, which was not among the commission's recommendations, would cost about $24 million a year and would be funded through private philanthropy. The mayor also said the city would seek approval to provide tax refunds of up to $1,000 for low-income families that need day care for children under age 3, at a cost of $42 million.

The article has critics giving pros and cons to the plan. Although the critics of the plan give good reasons why it's not the best idea, I'm of a mixed opinion.

I'm not a fan of entitlements at all, but at least this entitlement is more along the lines of the old New Deal type where you were expected to fulfill your part of the bargain before you received the entitlement. For example with the GI Bill you had to serve militarily first and then you got money. With social security you had to work first and then you received Social Security. So even though it's not my optimum idea, it's less of a bad idea than the LBJ style of entitlement made popular by his "War on Poverty" where the government paid you first and hoped on good faith that you would take the steps to eventually improve your life.

So it's kind of a baby step. Cutting entitlements altogether overnight would never fly in New York, but something like this at least uses private funds and requires some type of performance up front from the intended beneficiaries. It's at least a step in the right direction.

Cindy Sheehan's main squeeze is addressing the U.N. Moonbats are going to love it.

He held up Noam Chomsky's book and called President Bush the
devil:

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez took his verbal battle with the United States to the floor of the U.N. General Assembly on Wednesday, calling President Bush "the devil."
"The devil came here yesterday," Chavez said. "He came here talking as if he were the owner of the world."

More transcript from

I think that the first people who should read this book are our brothers and sisters in the United States because their threat is in their own house. The devil is right at home. The devil, the devil himself is right in the house. And the devil came here yesterday.

Yesterday the devil came here. Right here. (crosses himself) Right here. And it smells of sulfur still today. This table that I am now standing in front of, yesterday ladies and gentlemen, from this rostrum, the President of the United States, the gentleman to whom I refer as ‘the devil’ came here talking as if he owned the world. Truly as the owner of the world. I think we can call a psychiatrist to analyze yesterday’s statement made by the President of the United States.

Angry Muslims and Angry Gays: Swimming In Same Boat?

Hat tip to GayPatriot

Thanks to GP reader Liz for bringing this interesting take on the Pope/Muslim jihad angle to my attention…

Muslims and gays have the same problem. Who is doing the talking. The crazy ones. Whenever there is a gay issue who is doing the taliking some freak in pants with the ass cut out and nipple clamps. Most gay people aren’t like that why domn’t they tell that freak to sit down and shut up. Most Muslims don’t think burning churches and stoning women is a good idea. Why don’t they ever stand up and say shut up you backwards ass cave dwelling freaks. You don’t speak for us.

Liz agreed and emailed me her thoughts as well.

As a gay women in her 40’s I often think that many in the community go about getting recognition for gays and lesbians the wrong way and that the publicity we get for outrages behavior is not good. Am I endorsing this behavior because I don’t say that I disagree with it publicly in the same way I believe Muslims are endorsing radical Islam by not speaking out against it? My problem of course is what forum do I have for speaking out against the outrageous behavior of gays and Lesbians in my community, but then what forum does your average Muslim have for speaking out?

I have to concur. The messenger and those who stand next to them, and those who stand by in silence, are sometimes just as important as the message.

Pope Urban II Never Apologized and He Did the Right Thing!

Seeing today’s followers of orthodox Islam react to Pope Benedict XVI’s comments and his responses, I can’t help but think about the Pope who really ticked Muslims off. One who did a great deed, that many in today’s society fail to appreciate. Because he is the man who called for a massive defense of Christians, after centuries of attacks against followers of the faith, by the followers of orthodox Islam.

It all starts with the founder of Islam himself, Muhammad or Mohammed, you know who I’m talking about. Once his self developed cult had enough followers to wage war against others, he shunned his “religion of peace” rhetoric and started making statements like the following.

The Koran, Surah 9.29-30

[9.29] Fight those who do not believe in Allah, nor in the latter day, nor do they prohibit what Allah and His Apostle have prohibited, nor follow the religion of truth, out of those who have been given the Book, until they pay the tax in acknowledgment of superiority and they are in a state of subjection.

[9.30] And the Jews say: Uzair is the son of Allah; and the Christians say: The Messiah is the son of Allah; these are the words of their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved before; may Allah destroy them; how they are turned away!

He and his band of followers led raids, in which they took land by the sword and gave people who were not part of the cult 3 options.

Option 1: Pay a tax to Muslims and live like a 2nd class citizen who promises not to display their faith in public.

Option 2: Join the cult.

Option 3: Die.

That was what I like to call Muhammad’s “pro-choice” movement.

You had one of 3 options to choose from.

It is important to note, that Muhammad developed those choices in early 600 AD. Over 800 years before the Spanish Inquisition and over 400 years before Pope Urban II’s statement at Clermont, which started what we know as The Crusades.

You’ll see no defense of the Spanish Inquisition here, but we do need to set the record straight about The Crusades.

After Muhammad started his brand of “pro-choice” movement. Robert Spencer notes that Muhammad told those willing to attack Caesar’s territory, that their sins would be forgiven. This attack was carried out just after Muhammad’s death. And so orthodox Muslims attacking others and subjugating or killing them went on for about another 100 years unabated. With the orthodox Muslims hoping to get a higher place in heaven for their deeds. One where they would have lots of virgins and male slaves. Until October of 732AD, when Charles Martel (aka the Hammer) inhibited their conquest.

Charles Martel

In October, 732, Charles met Abd-er-Rahman outside of Tours and defeated and slew him in a battle (the Battle of Poitiers) which must ever remain one of the great events in the history of the world, as upon its issue depended whether Christian Civilization should continue or Islam prevail throughout Europe. It was this battle, it is said, that gave Charles his name, Martel (Tudites) “The Hammer”, because of the merciless way in which he smote the enemy.

But like today, orthodox Muslims, following in the footsteps of Muhammad, they continued attacks on non-Muslims. This leads us to the late 11th century, when the Byzantine Empire was trying to survive Muslim attacks. According to Spencer, 2/3 of what was once Christian lands were in the hands of Muslims by this time. Land that they of course took by force. So instead of rolling over and watching more Christians die, Pope Urban decided it was time to defend Christians, instead of watching more women get raped and people get their heads cut off.

Medieval Sourcebook: Urban II (1088-1099): Speech at Council of Clermont, 1095, Five versions of the Speech

1. Fulcher of Chartres

You are called shepherds; see that you do not act as hirelings. But be true shepherds, with your crooks always in your hands. Do not go to sleep, but guard on all sides the flock committed to you.

“Although, O sons of God, you have promised more firmly than ever to keep the peace among yourselves and to preserve the rights of the church, there remains still an important work for you to do. Freshly quickened by the divine correction, you must apply the strength of your righteousness to another matter which concerns you as well as God.

For your brethren who live in the east are in urgent need of your help, and you must hasten to give them the aid which has often been promised them. For, as the most of you have heard, the Turks and Arabs have attacked them and have conquered the territory of Romania [the Greek empire] as far west as the shore of the Mediterranean and the Hellespont, which is called the Arm of St. George.

They have occupied more and more of the lands of those Christians, and have overcome them in seven battles.

They have killed and captured many, and have destroyed the churches and devastated the empire. If you permit them to continue thus for awhile with impurity, the faithful of God will be much more widely attacked by them.

On this account I, or rather the Lord, beseech you as Christ’s heralds to publish this everywhere and to persuade all people of whatever rank, foot-soldiers and knights, poor and rich, to carry aid promptly to those Christians and to destroy that vile race from the lands of our friends. I say this to those who are present, it meant also for those who are absent. Moreover, Christ commands it.

Source: Bongars, Gesta Dei per Francos, 1, pp. 382 f., trans in Oliver J. Thatcher, and Edgar Holmes McNeal, eds., A Source Book for Medieval History, (New York: Scribners, 1905), 513-17

Those who don’t think Jesus would ever desire that Christians defend themselves by force if they were able, keep in mind that Jesus once asked his own disciples to pack swords. And he didn’t request that with plans for them to go fishing, but for their own defense if needed, since he was sacrificing himself and not them.

So we see that The Crusades were all about responding to the threat of Muhammad’s religion. Because his most orthodox followers were a danger to all near them. And so it is today. Nobody wants to say it, but the “war against terror” is really the continuation of the war against orthodox Islam. And as I’ve pointed out in a previous post, this is an enemy that America has been dealing with since its founding.

So while I’m talking about The Crusades, let me hit on a couple of other points. First of all, no Pope ever apologized for The Crusades, nor should they.

Modern Aftermath of the Crusades

Robert Spencer on the Battles Still Being Waged

Finally, it is a misconception that Pope John Paul II apologized for the Crusades. He did not.

There is no doubt that the belief that Pope John Paul II apologized for the Crusades is widespread. When he died, the Washington Post reminded its readers “during his long reign, Pope John Paul II apologized to Muslims for the Crusades, to Jews for anti-Semitism, to Orthodox Christians for the sacking of Constantinople, to Italians for the Vatican’s associations with the Mafia and to scientists for the persecution of Galileo.”

However, John Paul II never actually apologized for the Crusades. The closest he came was on March 12, 2000, the “Day of Pardon.”

During his homily he said: “We cannot fail to recognize the infidelities to the Gospel committed by some of our brethren, especially during the second millennium. Let us ask pardon for the divisions which have occurred among Christians, for the violence some have used in the service of the truth and for the distrustful and hostile attitudes sometimes taken toward the followers of other religions.”

This is hardly a clear apology for the Crusades.

Also, there are always talk of evil acts during The Crusades, like the slaughter of Jews. This was not part of Pope Urban’s efforts, but the actions of renegades abusing the cause, who were eventually dealt with.

Medieval Sourcebook: Albert of Aix and Ekkehard of Aura: Emico and the Slaughter of the Rhineland Jews

Albert of Aix

The Jews of this city, knowing of the slaughter of their brethren, and that they themselves could not escape the hands of so many, fled in hope of safety to Bishop Rothard. They put an infinite treasure in his guard and trust, having much faith in his protection, because he was Bishop of the city. Then that excellent Bishop of the city cautiously set aside the incredible amcunt of money received from them. He placed the Jews in the very spacious hall of his own house, away from the sight of Count Emico and his followers, that they might remain safe and sound in a very secure and strong place.

But Emico and the rest of his band held a council and, after sunrise, attacked the Jews in the hall with arrows and lances. Breaking the bolts and doors, they killed the Jews, about seven hundred in number, who in vain resisted the force and attack of so many thousands. They killed the women, also, and with their swords pierced tender children of whatever age and sex. The Jews, seeing that their Christian enemies were attacking them and their children, and that they were sparing no age, likewise fell upon one another, brother, children, wives, and sisters, and thus they perished at each other’s hands. Horrible to say, mothers cut the throats of nursing children with knives and stabbed others, preferring them to perish thus by their own hands rather than to be killed by the weapons of the uncircumcised.

Emico and some of his followers continued in their flight along the way by which they had come. Thomas, Clarebold, and several of their men escaped in flight toward Carinthia and Italy. So the hand of the Lord is believed to have been against the pilgrim who had sinned by excessive impurity and fornication, and who had slaughtered the exiled Jews through greed of money, rather than for the sake of God’s justice, although the Jews were opposed to Christ. The Lord is a just judge and orders no one unwillingly, or under compulsion, to come under the yoke of the Catholic faith.

Source: August. C. Krey, The First Crusade: The Accounts of Eyewitnesses and Participants, (Princeton: 1921), 54-56

Emico was eventually defeated by towns people in Hungary. They got word of his prior exploits and took care of the one who came to their area acting as a defender of the people. Of course Hungary was established as a Christian nation. As we know, The Crusades eventually ended and we see what happened to Hungary and other areas.

Today it is PC to say “radical Islam”, but those who follow that path have far more documented support of their efforts being exactly what Muhammad wanted, over those who use statements about “peace” from Muhammad. Those statements about peace were made earlier in his life, when he knew saying anything else would result in his own death. So what is today’s radical Islam is history’s orthodox Islam.

Black Liberal Disorder

1)Separatism a detachment from mainstream culture--that is, "white culture."

2)White condescension is the tacit racism of whites who allow and encourage the self-defeating victim's mentality--what George W. Bush has dubbed "the soft bigotry of low expectations." Although mostly unconscious, white condescension is more insidious and damaging than the bigotry of an ignorant few. No easy, short-term solutions exist, however, so we will have to do the difficult: acknowledgement and conscious correction--a stern application of what should be common sense.

3)The Cult of Victimology is a seductive ,addictive contentment in underdoggism."

The house of victimology rests on a foundation of seven "articles of faith," misconceptions shared by self-proclaimed victims. Pertinent anecdotes and striking statistics reduce these articles of faith to "either outright myths or vast exaggerations."

They serve only to widen a rift between white and black which, if it still exists, has been steadily narrowing for at least forty years. It also condones poor performance, failure, and criminality. It is an affront to actual civil rights leaders of the past, not to mention notions of black progress.

At the same time, though, it is an attractive mode of thought.

While victimology felt good and absolves one of guilt or responsibility,
these immediate pleasures make it, over time, a losing strategy.

Letters from a Black Leftist

Black Leftist: Why do you love the white man?

1) they've been and constant war for the past 6000 yrs.

2)they're responsible for the deaths of billions of people, directly or indirectly.

3)they're responsible for the distruction of all the ancient civilizations, which were ran by non-whites.

4) they destroyed our ancient religions and ways and forced us to assimilate into their ways, including forcing us to become christians.

5)they've enslaved most of the know world, including non-human.

6)they've raped every race of woman in every country on planet earth and forced them to produce half-breed children.

7)they've invaded or tried to envade and conquer every country on planet earth.

8)they're the maintainers of white supremacy, racism, imperialism and is responsible for the vast majority of the problems that exist in the Black and Hespanic communities all throughout the world: crack, heroine, cocaine, guns, prisons, lack of opportunities, cointelpro (which destroyed progressive movements and organization and assassinated positive leaders).

9)they've also been experimenting on us for about 500 years. look at the tuskegee syphilis experiment.

10)they've raped Black woman for at least 500 yrs straight and now Black woman can't get enough of them. just like on the plantation when the Black woman would use the slave master' power to control the Black man, they use the system and the police to control us today. always callin the police on us and shyt. she loved to fuck the powerful slave master, sometimes in front of the husband/man to make him jealous. the same shit applies today.

So why do you all love this brutal, lying, conquering, deceiving, murdering, raping, kidnapping, etc. monster?

Black Conservative :ANSWER

Lets analyze this, and add some truth and practicality to it.

"they've been and constant war for the past 6000 yrs. "

And what region of the world hasn't in the past 6000 years? Are you a muslim(sword of Allah)? Then you should CERTAINLY know about the muslim agressions that date back to the 10th century A.D.

"they're responsible for the deaths of billions of people, directly or indirectly."

What ethnicity of people once again was not involved in killing people? You have just described, African intertribal conflicts, conflicts in South east Asia and the simple fact that Mao Tsa Tung came to power.

"they're responsible for the distruction of all the ancient civilizations, which were ran by non-whites."

You fail to mention the Arabs who continue to attempt to detroy people right this minute in Darfur. Also Amerindian tribes in South America attmepted to destroy each other. We can see a consistent trans-ethnic pattern throughout the world of ingroup/outgroup conflict. It is simply NOT specific to whites. Bad arguement again.

"they destroyed our ancient religions and ways and forced us to assimilate into their ways, including forcing us to become christians."

Strangely enough you have just described the spread of Islam. Once again making it NOT exclusive to whites. Before Mohammed, the middle east and Africa was NOT muslim. Egyptians practiced polytheistc religion, guess who forced Islam on the region, one clue? It wasn't whites. What about Japanese aggression in Asia?
Bad arguement.

"they've raped every race of woman in every country on planet earth and forced them to produce half-breed children. "

In other words rape is currently exclusive to whites?

What about Arabs who also raped and pillaged?

What about the Mongols and the Turks why'd you leave them out? Half-Breed children? Forced? What about 2 human beings who get together that may be of different race who decide to have children, I guess you think thats a bad thing?

"they've invaded or tried to envade and conquer every country on planet earth."

This is a trans-ethnic occurance also. You treat whites as one entity.....why do you do this? Do you want ALL blacks to be treated as one entity even though you nor MOST black Americans have NOTHING in common with say a Xhosa tribesman of Southern Africa, nor will they ever? Should someone be able to say "blacks keep trying to be rappers", when there exist blacks in Africa who know nothing of that music genre??

"they're the maintainers of white supremacy, racism, imperialism and is responsible for the vast majority of the problems that exist in the Black and Hespanic communities all throughout the world: crack, heroine, cocaine, guns, prisons, lack of opportunities, cointelpro (which destroyed progressive movements and organization and assassinated positive leaders)."

We've been through this before. You're devastatingly wrong. And being belittling and condesending to blacks, treating them like perpetual 4 tear olds. The fact is nobody forces blacks to injest crack. That one fact is why this is a flawed arguement. It is wrong also in a "rest of the world" perspective also.

"they've also been experimenting on us for about 500 years. look at the tuskegee syphilis experiment."

Evidence of this going on today?

"they've raped Black woman for at least 500 yrs straight and now Black woman can't get enough of them. just like on the plantation when the Black woman would use the slave master' power to control the Black man, they use the system and the police to control us today. always callin the police on us and shyt. she loved to fuck the powerful slave master, sometimes in front of the husband/man to make him jealous. the same shit applies today."

Wrong completely. Horribly misguided statement. You really need some help kiddo.

"so why do you all love this brutal, lying, conquering, deceiving, murdering, raping, kidnapping, etc. monster?"

Humans should be fine with normalcy, and interacting with other humans. Its a science thing, you know with facts and all rather than the extreme emotions that make you write innaccurate, radical assumptions and statements. So I guess
you wouldn't be into that.

Now brace yourself as this moron throws every possible irrelevant slave reference at me......all too easy......all too predictable.

You're stuck in the victimhood matrix, and by default hate whites, no matter what. Now lets have those names. You've lost the arguement, if you DO start calling names.

When black people or ethnic groups do bad things do we
blanket them for the sins of the fathers?

If not why should be continue doing this with white people?

Also the largest crimes by so called "white "cultures have been against other so called "white cultures " examples of this is the Civil War, World war 1 and 2.

The word slave itself comes from the European word SLAV
an in itself denotes years of white slavery by whites to other whites.

Also the Holocaust killed over 10 million mostly white Jews,
In elimnating the Jews, he also killed Polish non jews who were white.

It is true that given that the west won the war of culture hindsight is 20/20.

There are many planes that leave this oppresive country daily, why not
take one.

If the west is so oppresive and racist, why not in all genuine honesty
return to native Africa??

Why not give up the laptop, the clothes and cd player and
become one with AFRICA???

There are many Africans that would take youre place here in
oppresive, facist America.

It's a fair question.

No Right..Unless with UN Approval?

WE HAD NO RIGHT WITHOUT U.N. APPROVAL

One is tempted to explain the very concept of "sovereign" in "sovereign state," but since those who use this argument are already deeply antagonistic to the idea that America has any right to do anything on its own, let's just skip right past that.

Instead, let's go to the moral heart of the matter. People who think we must go through the U.N. seem to believe that the U.N. is an objectively neutral or moral institution. In their eyes, getting approval from the U.N. is like getting approval from a judge or a priest. Or, they think the U.N. is where the nations of the world put aside their petty self-interest and do whatever is in the best interests of humanity.

There's only one problem with this. None of the nations in the U.N. ‹ especially the permanent members of the Security Council ‹ are acting on such pure motives. France isn't opposed to invading Iraq out of an abiding love of peace. It's opposed to an American invasion largely because France has been trading with Iraq for years, despite the sanctions. France has billions of dollars in oil contracts it doesn't want to lose. Which is why, according to numerous accounts, the French have made it known that if they can keep their existing contracts, they will probably approve a U.S. invasion.

Or, consider Russia. Russia's foot-dragging is also largely about oil ‹ and securing the $8 billion Iraq already owes them. But Russia also wants the U.S. to turn a blind eye to its military abuses in Chechnya and Georgia. And, by the way, a precondition for China's vote is tacit American approval of a Chinese crackdown on separatist Muslim Uighurs. Now, how is it that an American invasion of Iraq is somehow morally superior with U.N. approval if that approval can only be bought by American support for bloodshed elsewhere? Altruism and charity aren't the coin of the realm on the Security Council; blood and oil are.

As the editors of National Review put it in the latest issue: "We will leave it to the shrinks to determine why American liberals consider it a mark of morality in foreign policy when that policy coincides with Russian and French strategies that are themselves arrived at for the crassest of reasons.

In general, making 'international opinion' the benchmark for right and wrong is a mistake, since so much of it is driven by fear, self-interest, and greed." And speaking of greedS

Why did the US give aid to Saddam?

When the Shah fell in Iran in 1979 the affect on the US interests was catastrophic.

A major petroleum state, the biggest and best armed state in the Persian Gulf went from being strongly pro-American to avowedly anti.

Iran's new and wildly popular spiritual leader made clear his opinion of the United States: `And I am confident that the Iranian people, particularly our youth, will keep alive in their hearts anger and hatred for . . . the warmongering United States. This must be until the banner of Islam flies over every house in the world". (p.196, In the Name of God : The Khomeini Decade by Robin Wright c1989)

and his goals for Muslims: `Islam makes it incumbent on all adult males, provided they are not disabled and incapacitated, to prepare themselves for the conquest of [other] countries so that the write of Islam is obeyed in every country in the world....` But those who study Islamic Holy War will understand why Islam wants to conquer the whole world . . . Those who know nothing of Islam pretend that Islam counsels against war. Those [who say this] are witless. (Amir Taheri, Holy Terror, London 1987, p.226-7)

The renamed Islamic Republic of Iran took American diplomats hostage and held them for over a year.

Outside of its borders the IRI the Revolutionary Guards created a beachhead in Lebanon and made their presence felt with * a suicide bombing of the American Embassy (killing over 60, including all the CIA's Middle Eastern experts); * a bombing of the barracks of the US Marines peace-keeping mission (over 240 killed); and * the kidnapping of at least 87 foreigners, including 17 Americans, 14 Britons, 15 French, 7 Swiss and 7 West Germans, (at least 10 of these perished in captivity). (source: Hezbollah : Born with a vengeance by Hala Jaber pp.82, 100, 113) The boldness of the Mullahs' terror was that its agents and supporters didn't just bomb and kill, they targeted those with the impertinence to try to stop them. *

After France arrested one Annis Naccache for the attempted assassination of an ex-Premier of Iran, (Iranian Islamic terrorism wasn't just confined to the Middle East), a wave of terrorist bombing followed killing 11 French and injured more than 150. France finally backed down and released Naccache. *

After a terrorist bombing in the small state of Kuwait in 1983 17 were arrested but eventually released after Iran threatened the Sultan with further attacks. (source: Hezbollah : Born with a vengeance by Hala Jaber p.126-9) This was the context of the Iran-Iraq War. Saddam had invaded Iran and the Iranian territory he coveted included much of Iran's petroleum. International sympathy he did not deserve.

But Saddam was the enemy of the enemy of the non-Islamist world. When Iran counterattacked in 1982 and reconquered almost all its land, Iraqi civilian and military leadership all but threw in the towel. Behind Saddam's back they offered Iran a cease-fire proposal of status quo ante, abandoning all the claims made by Saddam in 1980.

Since the invasion of Iran was all Saddam's brilliant idea, the odds of him surviving such a settlement in the merciless political environment of Iraq were essentially nil. (source: History of Iraq by Charles Tripp p.236) So how did the IRI leader Ayatollah Khomeini respond to talk of a truce? `There are no conditions [for a truce], the only condition is that the regime in Baghdad must fall and must be replaced by an Islamic Republic . . . The issue is one of Islam versus blasphemy, and not of Iran versus Iraq.`. (sources: In the Name of God : The Khomeini Decade by Robin Wright c1989, p.126 and speech April 1985, from Reinventing Khomeini : The Struggle for Reform in Iran by Daniel Brumberg, p.133) Since both the Ayatollah and 60% of Iraq's population was Shiite, and Saddam and his leadership were Sunni Muslim, this threat was no joke.

The US did not want Khomeiniism spreading to other countries. It gave/sold Saddam weapons, it gave him battlefield intelligence reports, it overlooked his chemical weapons attacks and even the Iraqi missile attack on the USS Stark. It was not alone in helping Iraq either. "When the tide of battle turned in 1982, the Soviet Union began to resupply Iraq on a massive scale, generally subscribing to the common assumption, within the region and beyond, that an Iranian military victory would radically destabilise the Middle East as a whole in a way that would be to the advantage of `neither East nor West` (to use the Iranian slogan of the time.)

As Iran discovered, use of this slogan exacted a heavy price since by 1988 it found that both `East` and `West` were actively supporting Iraq's war effort." (p.240, History of Iraq by Charles Tripp) * * * * * * * * * * * These days we live in a rather different context. Saddam may be weaker in the sense that he has fewer functioning tanks, artillery, aircraft and rockets. But his reign is far more secure since he no longer has hundreds of thousands of Iranians ready to be shahids marching towards his border.

The Mullahs of Iran still promote terror (sending boatloads of rockets and other weapons to Palestinians), but one much smaller vastly less dangerous scale. They have their hands full suppressing their youth and other Iranians fed up with their misrule.

Dixie Chicks Singer Gets Explicit Denouncing Bush

Dixie Chicks Singer Gets Explicit Denouncing Bush

Posted by
Matthew Sheffield

Dixie Chicks lead singer Natalie Maines spews Bush hatred in public, so it's not exactly a surprise to see her
grow more unhinged in private:

The international press won't get their first look at the documentary Dixie Chicks: Shut Up and Sing until its gala premiere at the Toronto Film Festival tonight.

But EW.com got an early look at the sure-to-be-controversial doc in Los Angeles and can attest that the film will continue to bring the (ex?) country trio more plaudits from progressives and further condemnation from conservatives. And if you think singer Natalie Maines had some harsh words for President Bush in public, wait till you hear what she had to say about him behind the scenes.

In one memorable scene, Maines watches news footage of the president being interviewed about the furor that followed the singer's on-stage comment that she was ''ashamed the President of the United States is from Texas,'' which resulted in the group being dropped from most radio stations, as well as protests and plummeting sales. ''The Dixie Chicks are free to speak their mind,'' Bush told Tom Brokaw at the time, adding, ''They shouldn't have their feelings hurt just because some people don't want to buy their records when they speak out. You know, freedom is a two-way street.''After watching this footage, Maines repeats the president's comment about how the group shouldn't have their ''feelings hurt,'' incredulous, and then says, ''What a dumb f---.'' She then looks into the camera, as if addressing Bush, and reiterates, ''You're a dumb f---.

''Hat tip to
Sister Toldjah who adds: "Ever notice how she tends to make these disparaging comments about the Prez. when she’s NOT in the US? What’s the matter, Natalie? Too chick(s)en to say ‘em on your home turf?"

Rosie O'Donnell Brings Conservative Co-Host to Tears

Posted by Greg Sheffield

New "The View" co-host Rosie O'Donnell recently sparked controversy by saying that "radical Christianity is just as threatening as radical Islam." Her behavior has been so offensive, reports the
National Ledger, that she frequently brings conservative co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck to tears on the set.

The transition from Star Jones to Rosie O'Donnell hasn't been easy at "The View," especially not for Elisabeth Hasselbeck.

"She is crying every day," an insider tells us. "No one can control Rosie, and Elisabeth can't contain her feelings. She gets so upset all the time."

-Rossie needs to shut the hell up sit her fat butt down and listen for a change, and consider that maybe her elitist arrogance creates an atmosphere of intolerance.

" Blogger Fired at Ben Cardin's Staff For Posting "Racist" Remarks"

-LaShawn Barber has agreat piece on the Maryland Senate race with Michael Steele,
a surprisng racial scandal has been leashed on this run for the Senate.

Update: The American Spectator gets the spin from Maryland Democratic insiders... First they were going to claim she was a Republican plant, but that plan fell through when they realized she was was steered to Cardin campaign through MoveOn.org and the Democratic National Committee. The Center for Responsive Politics' website lists Ms. Gruber as having been paid $3,609 by the Democratic party in late 2004. They fell for the "junior staffer" spin though...

-Cardin Blogger wrote: two examples

1) “Looming in the back of one of the campaign pantries is a large stack of Oreos...Before I leave, however, I need a picture of all of us holding the forbidden cookies with the caption: ‘Devouring the Competition.’”

2)“It's an unfortunate situation when you're running an established, older, white candidate against a dynamic, younger African American. It's unfortunate, because the racism card hovers constantly, just waiting to be dealt. It's unfortunate, because no matter how completely and utterly incompetant a person is, if he fits in the wrong demographic, you're stuck with him.””

Last week, Wizbang Politics discovered that a staffer for U.S. Rep. Ben Cardin, the Democratic opponent to Republican Lt. Gov. Michael Steele in the Senate race in Maryland, was blogging under the name “Persuasionatrix” (cached copy).

Although the woman never named her employer, she said she was a member of the senior staff. Wizbang’s Kevin Aylward did some digging and found out her name is Ursula Gruber and she’s from Chicago. The mainstream media picked up the story pretty quickly:

In Cardin Camp, Online Slurs Get Junior Staffer Fired

Cardin campaign staffer fired over racial blog posts

Cardin fires campaign staffer over racial comments against Steele

So what’s the big deal about Persuasionatrix?

She wrote some racially-charged things, and unfortunately, race is a big part of the Maryland Senate race.

By Pamela Gentry,

BET Senior Political Reporter

- It seems Democratic Senate candidate Ben Cardin has at least one staffer who isn't aware of how easy the blogging world is to monitor.

After learning of derogatory comments the staffer posted on her personal blog about Cardin's opponent, Lt. Gov. Michael Steele (R-Md.), Cardin issued a quick apology and fired the "junior staffer" involved. He declined to reveal her name.

“I am deeply offended and disgusted by the blog's racial and anti-Semitic overtones," Cardin said. With that, he dismissed the staffer, saying she "will have nothing to do with my campaign."

One of the comments refers to Steele (not by name) as an “Oreo cookie,” a demeaning term used to describe a person who is deemed an Uncle Tom -- Black on the outside and White on the inside.

Melissa Sellers, a Steele spokeswoman, criticized the blog and Cardin. "It is deeply disturbing to learn that a staff member of 10-term Congressman Ben Cardin would keep a blog chronicling racial prejudices toward Lt. Gov. Steele and others," Sellers said.

Steele called the comments "very shocking," remembering that Oreo cookies were thrown at him during a 2002 campaign in Baltimore.

"That it exists in a national campaign is very disappointing," Steele told The (Easton) Star Democrat.

Tyron Garner Dies..Pivotal Gay Rights Case

September 14, 2006

Tyron Garner, one of two plaintiffs in the Supreme Court case in 2003 that overruled a Texas sodomy law in the broadest possible terms, effectively making homosexual relations a basic civil right, died Monday in Houston. He was 39.

Mr. Garner and John G. Lawrence, were arrested between 10:30 and 11 p.m. on Sept. 17, 1998, and charged with violating the Texas Homosexual Conduct Law by a sheriff’s deputy who said he had witnessed them in the act.

The men pleaded not guilty at their arraignment but later changed the pleas to no contest at the urging of lawyers eager to challenge the constitutionality of the law, not the factual basis of the arrests.

The men were represented throughout the case by the Lambda Legal Defense and Education Fund, which defends gay men and lesbians.

Their convictions were overturned by a three-judge panel of a state appeals court and then upheld, 7 to 2, by the full court. After the state’s highest court rejected the case, the men appealed to the Supreme Court.

On June 26, 2003, the court overruled the sodomy law, which it had upheld in 1986. In the opinion he wrote for the 6-to-3 majority, Justice Anthony M. Kennedy said the earlier interpretation “demeans the lives of homosexual persons.”

Justice Kennedy said that gay men and lesbians were “entitled to respect for their private lives” and that the state could not “control their destiny by making their private sexual conduct a crime.”

At that time, Suzanne Goldberg, a law professor at Rutgers, said in an interview with The New York Times that the case, Lawrence v. Texas, “removes the reflexive assumption of gay people’s inferiority.”

Tyron Garner, who actually preferred the spelling Tyrone, his brother said, was born on July 10, 1967, and did not reveal much about his early life. He was unemployed at the time of his arrest and a year later sold barbecue at a street stand in Houston. His criminal record included two convictions for assault in 1995 and 2000, The Dallas Morning News reported in 2003.

The men’s lawyers consistently shielded them from scrutiny, denying requests for interviews. Their lawyer in Houston, Mitchell Kitrane, said in an interview with Dale Carpenter in The Michigan Law Review that they were “on the quiet side, passive type individuals.”

Neither had prior involvement with gay-rights groups.

They were introduced to each other by Robert R. Eubanks, with whom Mr. Garner was romantically involved when he was arrested. Mr. Carpenter’s interviews showed that Mr. Garner and Mr. Lawrence were occasional sexual partners, not in a committed relationship.

On the day of the arrests, the three men drank margaritas and ate dinner at a Mexican restaurant. They had spent the afternoon moving Mr. Lawrence’s new furniture into his apartment and planned to move the old furniture to Mr. Eubanks’s place the next morning.

Shortly before 10:30, an unidentified man called the Harris County Sheriff’s Department and told the dispatcher that “a black male was going crazy in the apartment and he was armed with a gun.”

The caller turned out to be Mr. Eubanks, who told deputies he was jealous of Mr. Garner, with whom he argued that evening and had fought physically in the past.

Mr. Garner and Mr. Lawrence were then alone together in the apartment, fueling Mr. Eubanks’s rage.

Mr. Eubanks stood at the door when the police arrived and directed them to go inside, where, he said, a man was threatening neighbors with a gun. No gun was found, but the police entered with trepidation. Inside, a still-mysterious man on a telephone directed them to a bedroom in the back.

They shouted out several times and entered the bedroom. They said Mr. Garner and Mr. Lawrence were engaged in sex. One deputy said they continued obliviously for as long as a minute. Another deputy said they stopped immediately.

Why the deputies enforced the sodomy law, a rarity, is unclear, wrote Mr. Carpenter, who said he doubted that the officers actually saw any sex. He dismissed widespread speculation that the event was staged as a vehicle to test the law, saying that among other reasons, the men were too inarticulate for appearances in the news media.

Mr. Carpenter, a professor at the University of Minnesota Law School, does theorize that possibly homophobic deputies fabricated and lied about the evidence, confident that their version, and not the defendants’, would be believed.

Mr. Lawrence and Mr. Garner paid fines of $125 for violating the sodomy law, a Class C misdemeanor, plus $141.25 in court costs. Mr. Eubanks was convicted of making a false report and spent two weeks in jail. He was beaten to death in 2000 in a case that was never solved.

In addition to his brother Darrell, of Houston, Mr. Garner is survived by seven brothers and two sisters.

Mr. Garner took quiet pride in his place in history.

“I don’t really want to be a hero,” he said in an interview with The Houston Chronicle in 2004. “But I want to tell other gay people, ‘Be who you are, and don’t be afraid.’ ”

-In a day when Republicans should have argued and applied consistent conservative ideals they choose not to.This case shows how prejudice can lead to people abandoning there own values, simply to please there own souls. The constituion not ones soul was asked about how goverment should treat these two people.

Do we want to round up and throw into jail every gay and lesbian person for
sexual acts that are commited by straight people?

I was amazed at the silence of Republicans, who argue in every other sphere that we not goverment should be the one to form our own lives.

On some blogs there is even a debate as to how this case was orchestrated!

To me this does not matter there are many cases that reach the high court on the
right and left that are orchestrated, just think about the pro life legislation that is being debated in the mid west as we speak.

The point is ounce it gets to the court does the contituion do its job
and in this case it did.

Saddam Hussein's Support for Terror

By Deroy Murdock
September 17, 2006

Iraq war critics trumpet a Sept. 8 Senate Intelligence Committee report that concluded Saddam Hussein knew nothing about the September 11, 2001, attacks. Hence, the argument goes, he had no connection to al Qaeda, and therefore lacked ties to Islamic terrorists. In short: "Bush Lied, People Died."

This seriously flawed report relies on unreliable witnesses, ignores potential and actual evidence of Saddam's philanthropy of terror, and yet quietly acknowledges he, in fact, worked with terrorists. If Saddam's lawyers seek a clean bill of health for their client, this isn't it.

For starters, the report's sources include "multiple detainees -- including Saddam and former Deputy Prime Minister Tariq Aziz." Both are on trial and could face severe punishment. Their exculpatory remarks should be highly suspect, but appear valid to Senate Intelligence staffers. On Page 67, their report paraphrases Saddam's statement that he eschewed al Qaeda's anti-Americanism because "the United States was not Iraq's enemy."

Perhaps he merely was being playful when he fired almost daily at U.S. aircraft patrolling the No-Fly Zone and attempted to assassinate former President George H.W. Bush in 1993. Indeed, on Page 68, Mr. Aziz offers the FBI Saddam's response to al Qaeda's August 1998 bombing of U.S. Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. Saddam "was pleased at the act of terrorism because the U.S. had bombed Iraq during the first Gulf war and tried to kill Saddam. Saddam thought al Qaeda was an effective organization."

The report also quotes captured Iraqi documents. Among some 120 million such papers, only 34 million have been "translated and summarized to some extent" to speed analysis. Nevertheless, with nearly 72 percent of these records still unusable, the report concludes: "additional reviews of documents in Iraq are unlikely to provide information that would contradict the committee's findings or conclusions." Or, in plain English: "Don't confuse us with data. Trust us. We're psychic."

This report overlooks numerous indications, some firmer than others, that Saddam supported the September 11 conspiracy specifically and al Qaeda broadly, among other Islamic terrorist groups. Consider:

The report disregards the May 7, 2003, decision of Clinton-appointed U.S. District Court Judge Harold Baer Jr. that Baghdad backed the September 11 attack. Judge Baer awarded $104 million in damages from the Ba'athist regime to the families of George Eric Smith and Timothy Soulas, both killed at the World Trade Center. As Judge Baer ruled: "I conclude that plaintiffs have shown, albeit barely --by evidence satisfactory to the court -- that Iraq provided material support to bin Laden and al Qaeda."

The report misses the fact that the architect of the 1993 World Trade Center attack, Ramzi Yousef -- nephew of September 11 mastermind Khalid Sheik Mohammed -- landed in America on an Iraqi passport. Nor does it mention Indiana-born, Iraqi-bred Abdul Rahman Yasin, the al Qaeda operative who built the 1993 WTC bomb that killed six and injured 1,040. He fled to Iraq and, documents show, received a house and salary from Saddam's regime.

As Sheila MacVicar reported for ABC News on July 27, 1994: "Last week, [TV program] 'Day One' confirmed [Yasin] is in Baghdad. Just a few days ago, he was seen at [his father's] house by ABC News. Neighbors told us Yasin comes and goes freely."

The report forgets that President Clinton's State Department designated Iraq a state sponsor of terrorism as early as 1993. "Iraq continued to plan and sponsor international terrorism in 1999," State later declared. Baghdad "continued to provide safe haven and support to various terrorist groups."

The Senate document concedes "Saddam's record of support for secular terrorist organizations like the Palestinian Liberation Front," but then breezes past his $10,000, then $25,000, reward checks to the families of Palestinian homicide bombers. Between the $15,000 boost in these bonuses on March 11, 2002, and the March 20, 2003, launch of Operation Iraqi Freedom, 28 such killers wounded 1,209 people and murdered 223 more, including at least eight Americans.

While Vice President Dick Cheney and Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice have tried to answer this paper, President Bush himself should deliver several major addresses detailing Saddam's extensive terror record.

Educating the public with new, declassified information would help counteract the "Bush lied us into war" chorus. If this left-wing cantata goes unchallenged, it could cost Republicans control of Congress and leave Mr. Bush exposed to greater indignities -- including impeachment.

Israeli Black Panthers???

I'm always running across interesting articles!
Who knew about this?

Israeli Black Panthers support the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel

by Reuven Abarjel,

During the late '60s and into the '70s, the reputation of the Black Panther Party for Self-Defense, which had its start in Oakland in 1966, spread far and wide, not only throughout the United States, but around the world, where the party was considered the leading arm of the Black liberation struggle in AmeriKKKa.

In Israel, the Black Panthers' exploits caught the attention of the Mizrahi, dark-skinned Jews from North Africa and the Middle East â also known, less correctly, as Sephardim â who had been encouraged to come to the country following the expulsion of the Palestinians in the 1948 war.

While the Euro-American Ashkenazi Jews who dominated Israel's founding Labour Party spoke of the "ingathering" of these immigrants as part of fulfilling the Zionist dream, in reality they were seen as inferior "human material" and were desired mainly as a source of cheap labor. As such, they were consigned to living situations which at times approximated the treatment of Mexican immigrants to America's farmland. Some had their children kidnapped and given to childless Ashkenazi couples while others were used as guinea pigs in Nazi-like medical experiments.

What Asheknazi Israelis feared with the coming of the Mizrahi to Israel was what Israel's first prime minister, David Ben-Gurion, described as the "Levantization" of Israeli society â Levant being another name for the Middle East. And so a process was begun to de-Arabize the Mizrahi, who, in every way other than religion, such as food, dress and culture, were much closer to the Palestinians and other Arab peoples than they were to the Euro-American Ashkenazis.

A key goal of this program was to make the Palestinians bitter enemies in the eyes of the Mizrahi, and one way they did that was to provide better protection to the Ashkenazi towns and settlements than to those of the Mizrahi. Thus, when the Palestinian fedayeen (fighters who were fighting to get back their land) would choose to attack an Israeli settlement, they would invariably choose a Mizrahi "development town" because it made an easier target.

In 1971, a group of Mizrahi saw through the Ashkenazis' plans and began vigorously protesting the government's racist policies that made them second class citizens, and they began identifying with the Palestinians. Someone, as the story goes, compared them to America's Black Panthers, and the group eagerly adopted that name.

Their struggle lasted for a number of years, without any visible support from Israel's Ashkenazi American Jewish supporters. Attempts to gain recognition as a group through the political system ended in disappointment

The unremitting and unapologetic racism on the part of Israel's dominant Labour Party and even by some Ashkenazis who sympathized with the Palestinian struggle eventually caught up with it in 1977, when the right-wing Likud Party, under Menachem Begin, used promises and populist slogans to get the majority of the Mizrachim to vote for it and produce Israelâs first Likud prime minister.

In the 35th year since the birth of the Israeli Black Panthers, one of its founders, Reuven Abarjel, offered the following statement of solidarity with the Palestinian Campaign for the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel and the recent stand taken by NATFHE, the University and College Lecturers' Union, in Britain, to boycott Israeli academic and institutions that have not taken a stand against Israel's continuing occupation and oppression of the Palestinians. It was translated from the Hebrew by Smadar Lavie, an Israel Mizrahi academic who formerly attended UC Berkeley.

Statement by Reuven Abarjel, founder of Israelâs Black Panthers, in support of the Academic and Cultural Boycott of Israel

I was born in Morocco and have lived in Israel since 1950. In the 1970s, I founded the Black Panthers Movement. Our struggle against the regime was difficult and without compromise. The violence spread in the streets, and in order to break the Mizrahi resistance, the police acted with full force under the instructions of then prime minister Golda Meir.

From the onset of our struggle, the Black Panthers embarked on a dialogue with both local and European Palestinian leadership. Black Panthers delegations traveled to Italy, France, Belgium and the Netherlands. Concurrently, we met in refugee camps with bereaved families who lost their children to the struggle against the occupation. Just before Hon. Chairman Yasser Arafat died, I joined a delegation of activists who met with him in the besieged Muqata`a.

At the onset of our struggle, I began understanding that the problem is way deeper than I had thought, complicated to the extent that the average person finds it difficult to come up with solutions. The confusion is tremendous because the Israeli political system, maintained by external capitalist motives, causes the oppressed Palestinian and Mizrahi groups to collapse under the weight of the oppression and occupation.

The Mizrahim in Israel went through a sophisticated process of oppression under the guise of slogans such as "we are all brothers" and "we are all Jews." While the Ashkenazi establishment beamed with "solidarity" toward us, it committed crimes against us, such as medical experiments in radioactive radiation of about 100,000 children, almost all of whom are immigrants from North Africa, the kidnapping of children from large Mizrahi families to transfer them to childless European Jewish couples, and the exclusion of Mizrahi Jews from Israelâs educational institutions and centers of influence.

It is the duty of every pacifist in this world, whether academic or not, to join the struggle against racist governments that practice discrimination against the minorities and disenfranchised groups who constitute their population. It is the duty of every pacifist to encourage these groups to raise their voice and enact their influence anywhere, especially in this highly charged region that threatens world peace.

I was glad to hear that a large group of British academics has raised an outcry and OKed a decision comprised of three demands:

(1) An end to the occupation;

(2) An end to the structural discrimination against the Palestinian citizens of Israel in the arena of education;

(3) A demand on Israel that its higher education system must reflect the majority of its citizenry. This majority is the Mizrahim.

These were some of the demands of the Black Panther Movement which I founded. Our struggle was against the racism, discrimination and oppression of the non-European populations of Israel and of the territories it occupied after 1967. Today I am a senior member of the Mizrahi Democratic Rainbow.

Here we are, 35 years later, when a large group of intellectuals is rising up, able to stand tall against the Zionist academic-political hegemony of Israel and of the world. Their resistance to this hegemony is not dependent on the wishes of Zionism and its followers. The importance of the boycott is not in the very act of boycotting, but in the resistive stand against the Israeli academy and its collaboration with Israel's political hegemony.

Even though I am not an academic, I add my signature. I take pride in the struggles I conducted and still conduct against a violent force, which requires a larger force in order to restrain it. I hope that the ranks of the boycott will continue to grow until the occupation is over and racism and discrimination abolished.

"I forgive, I forgive" Nun Forgave Islamic Killers

A nun shot four times at the Somali hospital where she worked forgave her killers as she lay dying, colleagues said Monday in the wake of her slaying, which has focused attention on Islamic radicalism in the Horn of Africa.

Sister Leonella, 65, muttered the words "I forgive, I forgive" in Italian after being shot by gunmen Sunday, the Rev. Maloba Wesonga told The Associated Press at a memorial Mass for the nun in the Kenyan capital, Nairobi.

Italian nun killed in Somalia: Islamic forces suspected

Could the culprits be someone from the Religion of Peace?

Sep. 18 (CWNews.com) - On September 17, unidentified gunmen in Somali shot and killed an Italian nun working there, in an attack that observers suspect may be linked to the Islamic outrage against public comments by Pope Benedict XVI (bio - news). Sister Leonella Sgorbita, who had worked in Africa for about 40 years was shot in the back near a hospital in the south of the city. Her assailants promptly fled.

Sister Sgorbita was one of the Catholic missionaries with the longest record of service in Somalia, a country that has been plagued by political chaos, internal fighting, and abject poverty. "She was an outgoing person who would be committed to a goal to its end," said Sister Josephine Berber on behalf of the order. Members of the Consolata order to which Sister Sgorbita belonged to have flown her body to Nairobi, where it is to be buried at the Consolata Shrine in city on September 20. The Union of Islamic Courts, which controls Mogadishu and most of southern Somalia, is reported to have arrested two suspects in connection to the murder.

Since 1991 when the Somalia's national government collapsed, the country in the horn of Africa had been broken up into patched controlled by rival warlords. In a situation bordering on anarchy, Christians have often been the targets of violence and intimindation in the overwhelmingly Muslim country. The Islamic Court Union has established some semblance of law and order in the nation's former capital city, but militia members serving various warlords still wander freely through the streets of Mogadishu.

John McWhorter: "I Love My Think Tank"

The moderate-liberal commentator and former college professor writes about career choices: "A few years ago, I decided that I would be able to do my second career as a race commentator better by working for the Institute full-time in New York and doing linguistics research and writing independently (and, still, obsessively). That's my story, a mundane one, really. I do two things. First, one of them put food on the table.

Now, the other one does. Yet many see something sinister in my career move. There is a cartoon stereotype of black thinkers who stray from the left as 'sellouts' allowing white plutocrats to ply them with vast riches to get their heartless, racist views into the political discourse disguised by a black face. Because the Manhattan Institute is a conservative organization, then, my working for them is thought of by some as a cynical, traitorous ploy: I 'play a conservative on TV,' so to speak. The aforesaid riches, for the record, have eluded me so far. However, I am more interested in clarifying a thing or two else about what it is to work for a conservative think tank. Because I consider my second career a life's mission, I would prefer that my ideas be evaluated — whether accepted or rejected — without the distraction of juicy street myths. For one, the wording often used to describe my relationship with the Manhattan Institute suggests that there is some secret afoot. The Manhattan Institute is, we hear, my 'patron' — a word that implies something below-ground, requiring smoking out. There is a similar air to the frequent wording that I am 'supported by' the Manhattan Institute.....I am 'supported by' the Manhattan Institute just as a middle manager is 'supported by' the company she works for. That is, the Manhattan Institute is not my "patron," they are my employer."

He continues his commentary: "This brings us to another point. Last Friday I opened the Times to be greeted by a photo of me illustrating a story arguing that conservative think tanks instruct their writers to shill for corporations that give them contributions. My sin was saying on a radio show a year ago (in passing amidst a discussion of several issues) that Wal-Mart provides jobs for lower-income black people. At least the photo was good — black don't crack! However, the notion that the Manhattan Institute sits its writers down and instructs us to speak in favor of corporations that give us money is fiction.

I had no idea Wal-Mart was one of our funders and have never been apprised of a list of such — nor have any of my colleagues. Rather, naturally as someone employed by a free-market think tank, I do not see Wal-Mart as the scourge to humanity that it has become fashionable to claim. The less-than-generous health insurance they offer is a problem, and to me suggests a new discussion about national health insurance. But I said Wal-Mart offers gainful employment to poor blacks because it is, quite simply, true, as plenty of black community representatives have been noting for years.....There will always be those who see racism as an implacable scourge that ought make all black people indignant radicals. However, at my wedding last weekend — where my wife's liberal Times-reading relatives laughingly consoled me for being depicted in the article as a right-wing hack they have never seen in me — watching my cousin Buster Thompson cutting a rug with my new aunt Amy Silverberg was the kind of thing that will keep me convinced that we've come a lot further than we are often told."

Remembering Tupac

Tupac Amaru Shakur (June 16, 1971 – September 13, 1996), also known by his stage names 2Pac and Makaveli, was an American rap artist, actor, and poet.

He was listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the best-selling rap/hip-hop artist ever, having sold over 73 million albums worldwide, including over 44.5 million sales in the United States alone.

Most of Shakur's songs are about growing up around violence and hardship in ghettos, racism, and sometimes his feuds with fellow rappers. Tupac is known for the political, economic, and racial equality messages in a lot of his work. He has been ranked by many fans, critics, and industry insiders as the greatest rapper ever.

Born in New York City, Tupac frequently found his family changing place of residence. In 1988, his family moved to California, where he would reside for the rest of his life. In 1990 he was hired as a backup dancer for the alternative rap group Digital Underground. Tupac's debut album, 2Pacalypse Now, gained critical recognition and backlash for its controversial lyrics. Shakur became the target of various lawsuits and experienced legal troubles—most notably, he was convicted of sexually assaulting a woman in 1993 (although he vigorously denied the claims).

The day before the guilty verdict was issued, Shakur was shot five times in a recording studio lobby in Manhattan. Following the incident, Shakur grew suspicious that other rappers were involved in his shooting; the controversy would help spark the later East Coast-West Coast feud. After serving eleven months of his sentence, Shakur was bailed from prison by Marion "Suge" Knight, the CEO of Death Row Records.

In exchange, Shakur would release three records under the label, his fifth, double disc album All Eyez on Me counting as two. On September 7, 1996, Tupac was shot four times in a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas, Nevada. On September 13, 1996, six days after the shooting, Tupac died of respiratory failure and cardiac arrest at the University Medical Center in Las Vegas.

Tupac's music addresses such topics as the hardships of growing up around violence in United States ghettos, poverty, racism, and his feuds with fellow rappers. He is known for the messages of political, economic, and racial equality that pervade his work as well as the "Thug Life" that he raps about living in.

His music has attracted a large amount of controversy and was showcased in the media a number of times. He has gained a large amount of publicity for being one of the main figures in the East Coast vs. West Coast feud between his Death Row Records label and Bad Boy Records. During his lifetime, Tupac released five albums and played roles in several films. Many posthumous albums have been released under Shakur's name.

Shout Out....Are Republicans Racist??

Just curious how has the Republican Party been tainted as racist?

Below are a few replies we got back from this question, feel free
to respond.

-Just like any other black person growing up in america, I was taught that republicans are racist, that isn't true in the slightest. Republicans just don't give a damn about anybody but Republicans and themselves. Now, on the surface that sounds horrible but in fact, black people and Republicans are actually one in the same, watch:

* how many black people REALLY care about human suffering going on in the world? most black folks don't even know what's going on in sudan as we speak (and republican orgs are the only people fighting this in america right now)

* how many black people are REALLY riding with the ACLU when it comes to DEFENDING gay marriage, DEFENDING pedophiles and sex offendors?

* how many street "brothas" have we heard say "im all about mines!", "if you aint about gettin dis money with me, fuck ya!"

*how many of those same "brothas" take their money for rims and air force 1's and put it back in the community?

shit, those sound like REPUBLICANS to me, or at least the boogie man republican that black people are so afraid of...

-Simone

Was curious where you got the notion that the Republican party was "racist?" Certainly George W. Bush has gone a long way in promoting african american involvement in government affairs with his reliance upon Condi Rice. Of course, Condi is not representative of the African American population in general. She's well educated, very talented but, unfortunately, a republican conservative. She's an excellent role model for those African Americans (and any American) who subscribe to the philosophy of self-reliance. But she's a bad role-model for those African Americans who are trying to understand how an African American could become so supportive of a nightmarish neo-con philosophy which has only hurt the United States credibility both at home and abroad.

The unfortunate development for the Republican party is less the idea that they are racist rather than the fact that the Republican party of today bears no resemblance to the Republican party of Abraham Lincoln or for that matter, the Republican party of Barry Goldwater. The Republican party has been hijacked by a Christian Right Wing mentality. George W. Bush reflects this being that he publicly states that he gets his orders from "the man upstairs, " aka, his faith in Jesus Christ. I wouldn't trust a leader who gets his intructions from Allah or any other monotheistic faith. And the African American population benefits little from this mindset.

Self-Reliance is important but the role of government is to improve the quality of life of its people. And that's what conservative republicans have a problem with. They think of government as nothing but a bunch of "hand-outs" and "give-aways." But government does provide services which help people and builds infrastructure for a society where the free market fails. The African American population suffers from fragmentation and has no unified position on the role that government plays. Until its able to do so, the African American community won't have much power in the United States, and will be forced to rely on individual examples of leadership such as Condi Rice and Baraka Obama. Ironically, both represent different political perspectives. May the African American community choose wisely.

-Mike

-Republicans are about Personal Responsibility. Not Dependancy on the Government.. Democrats promote a (SLAVE) order for Black People that must be broken. Mastah will provide everything for you, don't you worry. Mastah will feed you, cloth you, and ensure your job is protected through some trade union with fix wages. Just as long as you keep electing Mastah to Congress, you'll get yours...

In the world of Republican Ideals, you get nothing. You need to be responsibile and stand on your own two feet and make something of yourself. Earn your wage. The harder you work the more you make. The smart you educate your mind, the more you make. The bigger your house, the nicer your car, the better your standard of living. You have complete control over your destiny.. You can either choose to live in poverty or rise up and be wealthy.. Break free of your government controlled chains and be free..

Often when a people have been enslaved for so long, it scares them to be free. Because they've only known a life that has been handed to them, not one in which they create themselves.

-Alby

Quote Of The Day

"I just returned to town and learned about the debate taking place in Congress to redefine Common Article 3 of the Geneva Conventions. I do not support such a step and believe it would be inconsistent with the McCain amendment on torture, which I supported last year. I have read the powerful and eloquent letter sent to you by one (of) my distinguished predecessors as chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Jack Vessey.

I fully endorse in tone and tint his powerful argument. The world is beginning to doubt the moral basis of our fight against terrorism. To redefine Common Article 3 would add to those doubts. Furthermore, it would put our own troops at risk. I am as familiar with 'The Armed Forces Officer' as is Jack Vessey. It was written after all the horrors of World War II, and General George C. Marshall, then secretary of defense, used it to tell the world and to remind our soldiers of our moral obligations with respect to those in our custody." — Colin Powell, moderate Republican and former Secretary of State, in a recent letter to Sen. John McCain on detainee legislation

Does a "Hip Hop Culture" Really Exist?

On the radio and televison we keep hearing about the so called Hip Hop culture?

What does that mean to you?

The classical definition of culture is basically a set of ideals and behaviors passed down among a particular group that aren't genetic...hip hop culture is the clothes, attitude, walk, talk etc etc...well, at least it use to be

Hip Hop in many ways is all about promiscuity, thuggish anti-social behavior, rejection of education, among other things...self inflicted genocide.

Is that culture?

Sen. George Allen gets endorsement from Black Democrat

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Sen. George Allen got the endorsement Tuesday of a senior black Democratic state legislator, a valuable boost after a month of battling claims that he used a racially-tinged slur on a man of Indian descent.

State Sen. Benjamin J. Lambert of Richmond cited Allen's support of funding for black higher education institutions in a letter to Allen's Senate office dated Wednesday.

Allen is waging an unexpectedly difficult re-election fight against Democrat Jim Webb, a former Republican in his first bid for elected office. A statewide poll released Sunday showed that Allen

had lost a commanding lead he held just six weeks ago and that the race is about even.

"Because we have worked well together over the years on many issues, and especially because you have delivered on your promises to support Virginia's Historically Black Colleges and Universities, I am pleased to support you in your re-election to the U.S. Senate," Lambert wrote.

The blessing from the moderate-to-conservative Democrat comes as Allen struggles to play down an Aug. 11 gaffe in which he called S.R. Sidarth, a Webb campaign volunteer, "Macaca." The word

denotes a genus of monkeys, including macaques, and is considered a racial slur in some countries.

Oriana Fallaci dies..Her words live On

The world has lost a true freedom fighter today

How ironic on the day that wild eyed Islamist threaten the Pope's life a dear friend of his has slipped away. Fallaci was a true patriot and a secular prophet, we would all be wise to listen to her sharp but heartfelt counsel.

The radical left and Islamist movements may be smiling, but her words are stronger than there hate, the pen is mighter than the sword. She knew what they were planning and what they wanted to do to us .Her words must never never be forgotten.Wake up America, pick up her book you oew her that!

I have decided to play Stings "How fragile We Are " to mourn Fallaci's passing.

A hundred baby suicide bombers are in the works.

-Oriana Fallaci

ROME -- Oriana Fallaci, the Italian writer and journalist best known for her abrasive interviews and provocative stances, has died, officials said Friday. She was 76.

Fallaci, who had been diagnosed with cancer years ago, died overnight in a private clinic in Florence, said Paolo Klun, an official with the RCS publishing group, which carried Fallaci's work. Klun said Fallaci, who lived in New York, had come back to her hometown days ago as her condition worsened.

Fallaci, a former Resistance fighter and war correspondent, was rarely seen in public. During her journalistic career she became known for challenging interviews with such world leaders as former U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, the late Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat and Iran's Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini.

Her work - both interviews and books - was translated across the world. "Fallaci's manner of interviewing was deliberately unsettling: she approached each encounter with studied aggressiveness, made frequent nods to European existentialism (she often disarmed her subjects with bald questions about death, God, and pity), and displayed a sinuous, crafty intelligence," The New Yorker wrote in a profile this year entitled "The Agitator."

Fallaci's recent publications - including the best-selling book "The Rage and The Pride," which came out weeks after the Sept. 11 attacks - drew accusations of racism and inciting hatred against Muslims.
"The Rage and The Pride," sold more than 1 million copies in Italy and found a large audience elsewhere in Europe. But Fallaci was also accused of racism.

In the book, she wrote that Muslims "multiply like rats" and said "the children of Allah spend their time with their bottoms in the air, praying five times a day." A group in France unsuccessfully sought to stop distribution of the book, while two other associations have requested that it carry a warning notice.

Her next essay, "The Strength of Reason," accused Europe of having sold its soul to what Fallaci described as an Islamic invasion. It also took the Catholic Church to task for being what she considers too weak before the Muslim world. Describing Europe as "Eurabia," Fallaci said the continent "has sold itself and sells itself to the enemy like a prostitute."

"Europe becomes more and more a province of Islam, a colony of Islam," she wrote. The current invasion, Fallaci went on to say, is not carried out only by the "terrorists who blow up themselves along with skyscrapers or buses" but also by "the immigrants who settle in our home, and who, with no respect for our laws, impose their ideas, their customs, their God."

She was not married and had no children. Information on funeral arrangements was not immediately available.

Black on Black

"In the days of slavery, there were those slaves who lived on the plantation and [there] were those slaves that lived in the house. When Colin Powell dares to suggest something other than what the master wants to hear, he will be turned back out to pasture."

Comments From The Past

"Rather I should die a thousand times, and see Old Glory trampled in the dirt never to rise again, than to see this beloved land of ours become degraded by race mongrels, a throwback to the blackest specimen from the wilds."

MUSIC REVIEW: Beyonce, B'Day

Grade: D+

Sophomore solo slump alert: this CD disappoints. There used to be a time when CDs mostly had A-list stuff. "B'Day" is mostly filler songs. Beyonce has said that she recorded "B'Day" in about 10 days. She should've taken her time, as the CD feels rushed. Even the top-flight producers on this CD - Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins, Swizz Beatz, Rich Harrison - can't save this fiasco of a CD.Beyonce has said that the CD is about female empowerment, which certainly got the attention of this libertarian feminist.

I was looking forward to a soul/R&B version of Alanis Morrissette's "Jagged Little Pill" from 1995. Instead of feeling empowered, I felt...dizzy and annoyed. The songs start to flow together with the same beats, and started to give me a headache. And almost all of the songs define Beyonce solely in relation to men, which ain't independence.

And for a CD about female empowerment, why are there so many male producers? Although I should note that Beyonce does include her sister and an obvious relative (Angie Beyince) on songwriting partnerships.Of the 11 songs (including the bonus track), only 2 are jams and 2 others are alright cuts. Both of the jams have already been released: "Deja Vu" and "Ring The Alarm". "Deja Vu" - the best cut on the CD - is a jazzy, horn-heavy jam that went as high as #4 on the pop chart (and topped the R&B chart), but quickly dropped out of the Top 10.

Hence the quick release of "Ring The Alarm", a frantic cut featuring blaring sirens that was produced by Swizz Beatz.

This "don't you go there with my man" song is allegedly a message to Rihanna, the low-rent Beyonce wannabe on Jay-Z's label, although Beyonce claims that it's an extension of her character from the upcoming "Dreamgirls" movie."Upgrade U" is one of the alright cuts on the CD, and features Jay-Z, chants and whistles, and a hip hop beat.

The other alright song is "Listen", the bonus track. Even though it is a bit Broadway show-ish (and I assume is part of the upcoming "Dreamgirls" soundtrack, given Beyonce's speech before she introduces the song), "Listen" is better than almost all of the other "regular" cuts on the CD.Otherwise, it is clunkers galore on the CD: "Get Me Bodied" features too much screaming, hand claps, and some guy who annoyingly says "hey, hey" throughout the track. "Suga Mama" has a funky beat a la Sly and the Family Stone, but underwhelms. "Kitty Kat" - a song about how her man is acting up - was produced by The Neptunes and Beyonce has a high-pitched sound throughout the song that annoys me.

"Freakum Dress", an anthem to the sex-inducing dress that Beyonce says every woman possesses to entice her partner when complacency hits, is too booty-callish for my taste and has a blaring sound in the background. "Green Light", also produced by The Neptunes, is just plain dull.

"Irreplaceable" and the En Vogue-ish cut "Resentment" are ballads where Beyonce had an opportunity to showcase her vocals, but they are at the end of the CD like an afterthought and fail to impress.Jay-Z's influence is clearly rubbing off on Beyonce - "B'Day" has harder beats and a more hip hopesque feel than we are used to hearing from Beyonce - and it is not always good influence (although even I must admit that 2 of the 4 decent songs on this CD involve him). Beyonce mildly curses on this CD, and just tries too hard to be hard. It just ain't convincing, since we all know that Beyonce is a Black American Princess from an upper-middle-class background.

Given what I've heard on this CD, I don't see hit songs in Beyonce's near future. Perhaps it is time for a hiatus. "B'Day" is a clunker, and I predict will barely hit platinum. I'll be shocked if it does 30% as well as "Dangerously In Love", Beyonce's solo debut which sold about 4.2 million copies in USA alone. Beyonce better hope that her newly-formed, kick ass all-female band and her stellar booty-shaking skills can make this CD come alive on the inevitable tour. They've got their work cut out for them.

Quote Of The Day

"I don't know what to think about the Maryland Senate race. I really thought the Democrats were going to fight fire with fire and go with [former NAACP leader Kweisi] Mfume, but they never turned around. They decided they wanted [Rep. Ben] Cardin and they got him. They made the same mistake with the Governor's office last time around and I think they'll lose. On the other hand, they just didn't want Mfume, so that is that. Either way, the people voted and Mfume lost by enough of a margin to say they didn't want him either. And of course, [black Republican Lt. Gov. Michael] Steele won hands down."

Cannon, Hamilton, and Ali...Are All Pro-Life?

Last week, I discovered an excellent website called deathroe.com. Notice the "roe" with an "e" rather than an "w", an allusion to the 1973 Supreme Court case Roe v. Wade. Through the site, I found something I'm sure many of you already knew existed. It is a pro-life song authored by Nick Cannon called "Can I Live" (curiously without a question mark).

The music video that goes along with it, also includes soulful R & B artist Anthony Hamilton and actor and singer Tatyana Ali.I simply had to post on this, because it was quite possibly the most moving music video I have ever seen. Cannon travels back in time-to 1979--appearing as a ghost in an abortion clinic delivering deeply moving lines to his then-teenage amother, like: "300 dollars that's the price of living?" and "Mommy, I don't like this clinic. Hopefully you'll make the right decision, and won't go through with the knife incision."At another point, he poses the question to his mother "What [do] you want morning sickness or the Sickness of mourning?"

Did you feel your heart sink like mine did?The song's chorus is just as hard-hitting--"I'll always be apart of you. Trust your soul knowsit's always true. If I could talk I'd say to you-Can I Live. Can I Live."What makes the lyrics more touching is towards the end, small children saying them. Nick and the children are wearing white shirts that read "Can I Live," in large letters. Alright, now, grab your box of tissues and watch the video (if you haven't already).View the video
here.

The story of Senator Rick Santorum (R-Pennsylvania) and the "C-SPAN Miracle" cameto mind, when I saw this. Late into the evening one day in 1998 on the floor of the U.S. Sen. Santorum was giving a speech on partial-birth abortion — even though he knew President Clinton was going to veto the bill (he vetoed it twice, by the way).

To many it seemed like a lost cause, but Santorum later learned that a woman flipping the channels thatnight happened to see his speech and decided not to go through with her abortion plannedfor the next day. Today, she and her husband have a child and are grateful to the
Sen. Santorum.

On an online message board off Nick Cannon's
website, one woman wrote, "I have spent years trying to make the same point you made in minutes." Nick Cannon will never know how many abortions he has stopped by creating this video. There is no telling how many women and girls contemplating having that "knife incicision" will decide against it after seeing his video.

Anthony Hamilton and Tatyana Ali should be commended for their role in the video as well.

Ali's skilled acting brings to life the character of Nick's tennage mother. The scene where she climbs off the abortionist table, runs down the hallway of the clinic, flings open the doors and sees the light, is very touching. For his part, Hamilton's soleful vocals laced throughout are essential to the effect of the piece. But no single element can top the ending scene when Nick reunites with his real mother on screen, and almost as if talking directly to the pro-abortion crowd he says "I aint passing no judgement.

I'm just telling my story."I'm not an emotional guy, but I'm not ashamed to admit, my eyes starting watering. Not only because of the powerful lyrics of the song and imagery of the video, but because I can relate. You see, this story hits home in more ways than one for me. I'm a young guy. My mother had an abortion 8 years before she had me, which was approximately the year after Nick's mom almost aborted him. If I ever meet Nick Cannon, I will shake his hand for putting together one amazing video.

Why are Black men more likely to go to prison than college?

Hip Hop Republican is asked some urban youth this question

We make up over 50% of the prisons and only about 6% of the country. that's very disproportionate. Why is that? 100 years ago, Black men wanted to become doctors and lawyers and such, now, we're look upon like we're innate criminals. What are some of the causes of this phenomenon?

Maryland Primary results..Steele Campaign

This just in from Maryland Senate Race.

http://politics.wizbangblog.com/2006/09/12/maryland-primary-results.php

In the race for the Democratic nomination to replace retiring Democratic Sen. Paul Sarbanes - With just over 24% of precincts reporting, Ben Cardin leads Kweisi Mfume by 9000 votes, or 45% - 37%.

The official results aren't being posted yet, so I don't know the area. Mfume would need a large vote in Baltimore City and County to counter the huge spending binge Cardin went on in the last few days.

As expected, Lt. Gov. Michael Steele is cruising to the Republican nomination with some 87% of the vote.

UPDATE 1 11:13 p.m.: With nearly 28% in, Cardin leads 45.2-35.5% for Mfume, and his vote total lead is over 12,000 now. The state site is still no help, as only one small county, Queen Anne's, has been posted there.

UPDATE 2 11:42 p.m.: Cardin is gradually widening his lead with 764 of 1793 Precincts Reporting - 42.61% of the total. He now leads by nearly 20,000 votes and over 10%, 46.3% - 36.0% over Mfume.

UPDATE 3 12:00 a.m.: With 908 of 1793 Precincts Reporting - 50.64% of the vote - Cardin still leads, 45.8 - 36.3%. I still can't determine if Baltimore is all out or not. If Baltimore is in, Mfume is toast. But if it is still out, he still has a chance, although it is becoming an outside one.

UPDATE 4 12:47 a.m.: 1188 of 1793 Precincts Reporting - 66.26% of total - and Cardin still holds a 9% lead at 46.0% -37.0%, about 29,000 votes. I suspect the Baltimore area is still out, though, as the relative lead has held roughly the same spread all night, and I expect a stronger showing for Mfume in the Baltimore area.

UPDATE....Rep. Cardin Beats Mfume in Md. Primary

First Muslim Congressman ??

Yahoo News is reporting that Minn. could elect Muslim congressman AP -

A state lawmaker could become the first Muslim elected to Congress after edging out three rivals Tuesday for his district's Democratic nomination.

Keith Ellison, 43, prevailed after overcoming questions about parking tickets, overdue taxes and his ties to the Nation of Islam. Because the district has long been dominated by Democrats, he will be a heavy favorite to win the Minneapolis-area seat in November.

Ellison courted the liberal wing of the Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party by comparing himself to the late Sen. Paul Wellstone — and many voters responded. Others relished the chance to elect a minority to Congress from Minnesota for the first time; Ellison is black.
"We came together, all colors, all faiths, all of us," a jubilant Ellison said. "We said from the very beginning this campaign is about everybody counts."

The retirement of U.S. Rep. Martin Sabo after 28 years opened a competitive DFL primary contest in Minnesota's most Democratic district. The race included Sabo's former chief of staff, Mike Erlandson; former state Sen. Ember Reichgott Junge; and Minneapolis City Council member Paul Ostrow.

Ellison got the DFL endorsement in May. But he quickly ran into difficulty after reports of overdue parking tickets, late campaign finance reports and unpaid taxes. He also faced questions about anti-Semitism because of his past ties with the Nation of Islam, a black Muslim group led by the confrontational Louis Farrakhan.

Ellison, a criminal defense attorney who converted to Islam as a college student, has since denounced Farrakhan and been endorsed by a Minneapolis Jewish newspaper. He has also pledged to improve his record-keeping.

-Mmmm so the Muslim Lobby will be using African American's most who are Christian to gain elections, I knew there must be a Muslim Karl Rove some where at the head quaters of CAIR.

No matter what happens in this race everyone no matter religion should be able to run, and if he wins that is democracy.

And he will no doubt win given that Muslim groups and black liberals share
a common language, blame America and blame whitey.

The two groups are a match made in heaven, just blame America
untill election day and he should win. He should use such catch words as, "the man" oppression, America, anti war, down with Bush, racist, you know the usual slogans.

I am curious that he has not condemed CAIR for not taking a tougher stand
on Sudan. CAIR has been quiet about the deaths of black christiansand Muslims in the Sudan, I wonder what Keith Ellsion has to say on this matter given that he seeks there support.

Now just wait the arab lobby will be using there black lawmakers as pawnsagainst Isreal and any other griveance that flows from CAIR'S HQ.

Club for Growth Defeat ...Chafee Wins

In another smack down to the Glub for Growth gang, the moderate Lincoln Chafee won his primary race.

With 99 percent of precincts reporting, Chafee had 34,042 votes, or 54 percent, to Cranston Mayor Steve Laffey's 29,431 votes, or 46 percent.

Chafee beat his conservative challenger and will now most likely
will hold on to his Senate seat.

Chafee stated after winning "Our goal has always been to find the common ground for the common good.... Partisan politics must not prevail."

-I agree with him 100 percent, if we are to be a big tent party
we must embrace moderates also.

The Unite Nations Failure in Sudan

http://hrw.org/reports/2004/sudan050...m#_Toc71531691

I am saddened that the united antions has not stepped in to take care of these people.
It looks like the emasculated talking heads of the UN are incapable of dealing with this.

They can't and they won't.Unfortunately, the only short-term solution is American military intervention. Like it or not, we're the only ones with the heart, the balls, and the ability to do anything.I say we take the annual "dues" we waste at the UN and invest it directly in this humanitarian crisis.

Changing the U.S. *Detainee* Policy...

The Pentagon has decided to omit from new detainee policies a key tenet of the Geneva Convention that bans "humiliating and degrading treatment," according to military officials, a step that would mark a potentially permanent shift away from strict adherence to international human rights standards.

The decision culminates a lengthy debate within the Department of Defense, but will not become final until the Pentagon makes new guidelines public, a step that has been delayed.

However, the State Department fiercely opposes the military's decision to exclude Geneva Convention protections and has been pushing for the Pentagon and White House to reconsider, Defense officials acknowledged.

For more than a year, the Pentagon has been redrawing policies on detainees and interrogation, and intends to issue a new Army Field Manual, which, along with accompanying directives, represents core instructions to U.S. soldiers worldwide.

The process has been beset by debate and controversy, but the decision to omit Geneva Convention protections from a principal directive comes at a time of growing worldwide criticism of U.S. detention practices and the conduct of American forces in Iraq.

The directive on interrogations, a senior Defense official said, is being rewritten to create safeguards so that detainees are treated humanely but can still be questioned effectively.

President Bush's critics and supporters have debated whether it is possible to prove a direct link between administration declarations that it will not be bound by Geneva and events such as the abuses at Abu Ghraib or the killings of civilians last year at Haditha, Iraq, allegedly by U.S. Marines. But the exclusion of the Geneva provisions may make it more difficult for the administration to portray such incidents as aberrations.

The detainee directive was due to be released in April along with the Army Field Manual on interrogations. But objections from several senators on other Field Manual issues forced a delay. Senators objected to provisions allowing harsher interrogation techniques for unlawful combatants, such as suspected terrorists, as opposed to traditional prisoners of war.

The lawmakers argue that differing standards of treatment allowed by the Field Manual would violate a broadly supported anti-torture measure advanced by Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz. McCain last year pushed Congress to ban torture and cruel treatment and to establish the Army Field Manual as the uniform standard for treatment of all detainees. Despite administration opposition, the measure passed and became law.

For decades, it was the official policy of the U.S. military to follow minimum standards for treating detainees as laid out in the Geneva Convention. But, in 2002, President Bush suspended portions of the Geneva Convention for captured al Qaeda and Taliban fighters.

Among the directives being rewritten following Bush's 2002 order is one governing U.S. detention operations. Military lawyers and other Defense officials wanted the redrawn version of the document to again embrace Common Article 3 of the Geneva Convention. The protections for detainees in Article 3 go beyond the McCain amendment by prohibiting humiliation, treatment that falls short of cruelty or torture. However, the move to restore U.S. adherence to Article 3 was opposed by Vice President Dick Cheney's office and by the Pentagon's intelligence arm, government sources said.

I really don't care what happens to them or how they are treated. Let our military do their job and get information any way they can. American lives are more valuable than whether or not some thug gets fair treatment. He aint in prison for speeding tickets.

Jeffersonian Economics

George Jeffersonomics, that is.

TV Land's Labor Day Weekend The Jeffersons marathon got us wondering about economics and economic myths. Weezy somehow managed to convince George that he was charging to much for dry cleaning and that he had a social responsibility to cut prices and ... lose money. At episode's end George was cutting prices - but the George we know and love certainly jacked them back up as soon as his wife wasn't looking.

Free people everywhere from Bavarian shopkeepers to Masai herders onto Chinese peasants know very well where their own interests are to be found - all the way from the value they place on private property onto how they make and spend money. All of us humans find security in secure ownership and appreciate the notion of "buying for a dollar and selling for two" and spending money just however we like. The key concept here is 'free'.

The tens of billions of free economic decisions that those fortunate billions of us are allowed to make every day are the most magnificent expression of popular democracy and translate directly into the freedom of the political market. Captive people have the very same common human sense but someone, usually a thuggish government, always has a hand in their pocket and is busy telling them what to do and think.

Indeed, such governments are busy trying to convince all concerned that ownership is wrong and must be restricted. They seem to have little trouble finding 'experts' to cheer them on. 'Experts', by the way, who would never tolerate such nonsense where they live themselves. Such governments try to force people to accept that the same rules that have made most of humanity over the past half century escape nasty, brutish and short lives are only appropriate to some humans and not others.

All the while the folks at the top of those governments seem to be doing rather well themselves while their people get poorer. The owners of government skim not only the cream of their economies for themselves but they take out the milk by the bucketful - and invest their riches in countries that actually respect the market and ownership.

common sense

So ... back to George, who knows more economics as a successful businessman than any intellectual, expert or Nobel Prize winner. TV audiences met him as racist Archie Bunker's first Black American neighbor. That Astoria, Queens house was the Jefferson's first stop out of their original home in Harlem. Driven forward by the growing numbers of George's dry cleaning businesses they made it all the way up to the East Side and their own sitcom.

In the episode in question, Weezie visits old friends and Harlem and returns to George upset that everyone in the neighborhood has to go far away to get their clothes done. You see - George's stores are too expensive and she feels they have lost touch with their roots. So she insists that George drop his prices which he does - George gets a big kiss and feels he has done the right thing.

Even more importantly, the writers, producers, the director and the audience feel they have witnessed a modern morality tale about the evils of capitalism. Everyone feels just a little bit smug and superior - that is until they have to wake up the next morning and make a living.

Stuff and nonsense ... all of it.

First of all, if the people in the neighborhood could not afford George's prices he would have to drop the prices or go out of business with no emotional or moral calls needed. Are we to assume that people from New York's richer neighborhoods are travelling long distances to get to his stores? If not then who are his clients?

Secondly, what is wrong with making money? Should George be ashamed for being a successful businessman? His success was not due to political connections or to burning out the competition nor to cheating anyone. Throughout the show his extreme work ethic is evident. He provides a good popular service to his customers, he pays his employees well and he takes all the myriad risks of a small businessman on himself.

Third, notice the further dearth of common sense in the story line. Sure George makes as much money as possible - why else would he work so hard? Why do people get all warm and fuzzy when men like George, those very faithful students of Adam Smith and the engines of economic growth for all of us, are put down?

We aren't quite on the same page with Gordon Gekko here and his "greed is good" philosophy - but it is clear that societies where everyone makes selfish decisions with some basic rules in place (while all keep a sharp eye on the rulemakers above all) are more prosperous and free than any other pie in the sky, heaven on earth idea, feeling or ideology that the most enlightened or damned mind has yet to come up with.

Well what then must be done? The people have a right to clean clothes and it is the job of the occasionally morally loose intellectual and the always morally dead revolutionary to get them those clothes. Never mind that every other revolutionary or third way attempt to get clean clothes for the people was a miserable failure - this time it would be made to work if it was only done with more passion and honesty.

What is a next logical step of such feel good anti-capitalist morality - if it is taken at all seriously? Well quite obviously we 'the people' could confiscate George's business in the name of clothes equality and have the government run it since it is clearly immoral for someone to profit from the need of common people to have clean clothes. Or, the government could regulate George's prices with a massive bureaucracy in place.

In either case the government would oversee first dry cleaning, then regular laundries, next clothing stores, then clothing manufacturers and distributors etc. etc. all the way out to cotton farms, importers of cloth and ultimately the trucks and trains that move them around and the gas that fuels them all. Pretty soon there would be a secret clothes police checking closets in homes and gimgemas aka mandatory meetings where 'anti-clothes equality' counter-revolutionaries would confess their thought crimes. Labor camps and a bullet in the back of the neck may also await those not entirely down with the new era of clothes equality.

in the name of the people

Within a few years no one would have clean clothes or anything they wanted to wear except for a select few who would be more equal than everyone else. Dear reader, you can be sure that the people in charge of clothes equality would all be dressed in designer outfits made with gold thread and fastened with platinum zippers. The 'people' in their now accustomed rags would, according to official propaganda, delight in the equality and the promise of a perfectly clothed future that their leaders promised them.

Think we are overstating our case here? Dude, you are seriously wrong. This in a nutshell is the story of the 20th Century and every version of its totalitarian horrors. There is no clearer comparison to late 20th Century Ethiopia. What is amazing is that any Ethiopians at all (because of their government) actually consider these obvious truths a matter for debate. Most of the rest of the world is on the move and has dropped all of this ideological crap literally decades ago.

There is a necessary and inverse relationship between how much freedom people have economically and how poor they are. In the same way economic freedom and rights of ownership always accompany political freedom. For example, the formula also holds up as a matter of degree. Chinese are today not as free as they should be but much better off than in Mao's time. Ethiopians unfortunately, have essentially the same rules as they did under Mengistu except for cronly economics styled as a free market. It shows in the national index of oppression and poverty.

Ethiopians are still missing out on the fruits of the modern world which belong to them as surely as their right to breathe - and other Ethiopians took it away from them. Their government is in their way with various permutations of silly ideologies and nonsensical policies trotted out semi-annually to justify their rule to the 'thinkers' among foreign aid donors and those who figure Ethiopians could never do better anyway.

Basically, the successes of the West and those who have emulated them worldwide are human successes that are no one's property. There is absolutely no reason that those victories over want and wrong can not be shared by Ethiopians. There is nothing authentic and remotely valuable about being left behind and doing what the rest of humanity avoids like the plague.

Many in the Third World have taken too much Western self-criticism to heart forgetting that the most radical Westerner has very sharp limits at home about how much she can actually re-order what are essentially conservative societies. After all economic 'expert' Westerners don't want to live in poor ideologically correct countries but enjoy being tourists in them while giving them bad economic advice and cheering on the tyrants who pay attention to them.

That way Ethiopians aren't supposed to get any strange ideas about being the masters of their own fates in politics and economics as they submit meekly towards their betters in the politburo and corporate offices of Meles Inc. There are no secrets and nothing new to learn about how some countries suffer and others grow. Revolutionary democracy, agrarian democracy, agricultural led development, new paradigms and other such theories are not only silly they are at this late date of human development, they are simply criminal.

was George rent seeking?

Use of the term rent seeking is a fetish that is supposed to reveal sophistication and wisdom by Meles in the past and in his upcoming book, African Development: Dead Ends and New Beginnings (PDF file - all sponsored by the good folks of Columbia University's Africa Task Force). Meles also uses it to cover himself in the aura of and flatter one of his own fans and intellectual enablers, the Nobel Prize winning economist Joseph Stiglitz.

Professor Stiglitz actually has some ideas worthy of discussion - unlike his student. In his book Globalization and Its Discontents he refers to rent seeking (PDF file),
a theory of “how special interests use tariffs and other protectionist measures to increase their incomes at the expense of others”. He associates this theory with ideological fervor and claims that market failure arguments better explain problems in developing countries.
Sounds alright as a theory right? One problem is that the ideological fervor he is against is that which pushes for freer markets - which we know work better than any other option. He is not worried about ideological fervor that denies people the right to own land and property nor is he talking about the ideological fervor that creates necessarily corrupt dictatorships with governing philosophies such as the new paradigm.

That ideology was formerly known as revolutionary democracy was given to mankind by a man that Stiglitz referred to thus,
Meles combined these intellectual attributes with personal integrity: no one doubted his honesty and there were few accusations of corruption within his government

His political opponent came mostly from the long-dominant groups around the capital who had lost political power with his accession, and they raised questions about his commitment to democratic principles.

Surely, this was precisely the kind of government to which the international community should have been giving assistance
Sounds like something straight out of the government / party owned Walta doesn't it? Stiglitz also says that privatization often means briberization and that wealth often trickled up to the already wealthy elite in societies ostensibly trying to form freer markets. Again, the Professor is right but the leaders he is most enamored of are the worst offenders.

It seems that all corrupt dictators need to do is to use the vocabulary of 'free market critical' development theory to justify themselves. Tyrants are then also free of criticism for creating societies that are by definition dedicated to the concept of rent seeking.

Let us take another look at rent seeking.
In economics, rent seeking is the process by which an individual, organization, or firm seeks to gain through manipulation of the economic environment, rather than through trade and the production of added wealth.

Rent seeking generally implies the extraction of uncompensated value from others without taking actions which improve productivity, such as by imposing regulations or other government decisions that may affect consumers or businesses.
George Jefferson was not rent seeking. He was just trying to run a business and make some money while not hurting anybody. Meles, on the other hand is a rent seeker with few equals. Let us see now, Meles is a dictator with absolute authority over his party and government which are for all intents and purposes inseperable. Both party and government own businesses / monopolies that dominate the economy at every level down to planned fertilizer indebtedness to control peasants and crooked licensing schemes (or different levels of abuse) to control all other economic and political actors at every level.

The state owns ALL LAND and that insecurity is also used to control people. In effect then Meles owns all of Ethiopia in a perverse form of revolutionary feudalism that comes complete with the most selfish aristocracy Ethiopia has every imagined in its worst nightmares going back thousands of years. The government which Meles also owns ostensibly regulates everything but of course it is all a corrupt mess.

All the while the fate of Ethiopians and the stability of the Horn of Africa is held hostage to the whims of Meles in exchange for billions in loans never to be repaid, billions in debt forgiveness for stolen money and billions in direct budget support. Ethiopia is one of the most corrupt nations on earth and one of the least favorite places for foreign investment. No wonder that it is also among the poorest nations on earth.

All of this in the name of 'the people' amidst cheerleading from ferenji enablers. Meles should have his picture next to the word rent seeking in every encyclopedia. The laws, government and life of an entire country has been twisted or preserved from the roots provided by Mengistu to ensure his personal power and wealth and that of his nobility. There are dimensions of rent seeking on the political, economic and intellectual front that are staggering present here.

But ... this is all common sense isn't it? At least it should be. The more people have to use fancy terms to explain simple things and the more they want to do things for the 'good of the people' the more you should hang tightly to your wallet ... and watch out for your throat. What Meles is doing with so much support is mystifying the simple facts of tyranny and the manufacture of human suffering.

meles inc. + intellectual enablers = rent seeking, big time

The big difference between what common sense is and what popular 'feel good' economics says is seldom taken seriously in free societies except in policy towards the politically powerless. The massive chasm between reality and the ideas of every manner of political / economic 'expert' is however a deadly threat to all of us - especially when intellectuals and the pet intellectuals they enable, start trying out new ideas on the captives that they claim to care about.

You see, economics is quite simple. Sure, when you are talking about the Fed moving interest rates 0.25%, calculating M or trying to make sense of derivatives and the like - it does tend to get complicated. However, the most important decisions and what really matters is plain human common sense and the decisions people make in a free system. Such a system is never perfect and its own critical honesty makes it a target but no one has yet made a different system yet that actually creates wealth and increases freedom.

Actually all the other options have made things far worse every time. Good old fashioned capitalism is the best thing going. By no accident it is often seen in the company of genuine elections and freedom of speech. At least the degree to which an economy is free matches how free the people are. Much of the bloodiest century in history that just passed was defined by a battle - practical application of the economic and political market against 'heaven on earth' turned nightmare constructs meant just for the right class, tribe or religion.

Capitalism is not perfect to state the obvious once more. However, that is how most donor countries got to be rich to begin with and how the billions of others in dozens of other countries get richer every year. There is no viable revolutionary capitalism or new paradigm capitalism or third way capitalism or any such nonsense. That is unless the purpose is justifying dictatorship and intellectual satisfaction alone.

There are certainly variations running the spectrum from Sweden and Hong Kong onto the US and India. The essentials are always the same and those essentials are entirely absent in Ethiopia by government design and the enabling of intellectuals and bureaucrats who know better. Feeling good about making plans for a perfect future can not be excused for accepting the rough and tumble of what works today.

Without transparency and accountabily to provide for good governance economics becomes about nothing but rent seeking, getting over and lies. All with the aim of personal enrichment for those with political power. There is no more fundamentally corrupt system than one whose so pretty false promises give it validity that no one believes but so many accept.

That is what Meles Inc. is all about. All those who assist Ethiopia's Prime Minister in his efforts to regain his false mantle as 'the great intellectual' so that he can continue business as usual already know all of this.

Michael Diaz-Piedra III..9/11 Hero

Imagine running in the dark of night, desperately trying to escape
the oppressive nature of Fidel Castro’s Cuba.

You have nothing with you but you’re clothes and hope.

You hope that America, this decent nation
Will takes you in, will embrace you and you’re dreams.

If you can imagine this then you can
imagine the life of Michael Diaz Piedra
killed on 9/11 by Islamic fascist!

Micheal Diaz was a man of heart, and compassionate.
Micheal enjoyed dancing, fencing andl was always learning a new
skill one if which was playing the bag pipes.

But if the life of Micheal can be summed up
It would be through the people who knew him,
I never met him, but these people did.

Below are a few examples of there memories.
An employee and freind recalls Michael’s humor she recalls him
trying to impress all of us by ordering a meal for the entire table,
without speaking a word English.

Greg a friend of Michaels said

“If the value of a person’s life is measured by the way that they have touched others,
I dare say that your life will always be priceless.”

A child hood freind who lived across the river in Jersey said
” I knew on September 11th as I stood less than a 1/2 mile away, I was losing someone. I just didn't think it would hit so close to home. We hadn't seen each other in many years. Thanks for being my friend Mike -- the pleasure was all mine. I will remember you, and I will smile.

A letter to Mike left on a site in memory of him said this.

Dear Mike,

I haven't seen you in 10 years. my mom, jessica, told me what happened. i'm so sorry. i'm so very sorry. the last time i saw you was when you visited my at the hospital. that was when my first son, christopherson, was born. mike, he turns 10 tomorrow. thank you for your visit and for your support. i was only 18 and really had no family around. but you came by because thats just the kind of guy you are. well you're with your angel now and she's taking care of you. thank you again, mike, for being there in my time of need.

Below is a childhood Friend

Well, another piece of my childhood just got chipped away, buddy. I want to thank you for the chess games, Monopoly games, backyard picnics, boxing matches, Budweisers we "confiscated," from my dad's refrigerator, listening to records, and debating the old Elvis vs Beatles question in the basement where we lived: Monroe Place, West New York, NJ. We grew up there together.Your mom, dad, sister Anna Maria and brother George. You were upstairs and I was downstairs. We attended opposing high schools, but we didn't care. I knew on September 11th as I stood less than a 1/2 mile away, I was losing someone. I just didn't think it would hit so close to home. We hadn't seen each other in many years. Thanks for being my friend Mike -- the pleasure was all mine. I will remember you, and I will smile.

John

Here is the account from a Co Worker

Michael: Four years have gone by since that devastating day known as 9/11. On that day I was driving down Boulevard East, almost passing your old house in North Bergen when the first reports came across the radio. I arrived at work and watched helpless, from across the Hudson River. Days later I learned that you were there. I still have (and always will) the wonderful memories of spending time with you. I’ll always remember listening to you and learning about your latest hobby, whether it was square dancing, fencing or playing the bag pipes (doesn’t every good Cuban-American wear a kilt?!) or watching you try to impress all of us by ordering a meal for the entire table, without speaking a word English. I’m still not sure the waiters fully understood you, but hey, I was impressed! I only wish we had spent more time together. If the value of a person’s life is measured by the way that they have touched others, I dare say that your life will always be priceless

Gregory

Letter in 2003 from family

I just want to say that it is 2003 and no one has forgotten this tragedy. It is as fresh as it was on Sept. 11th. I went to your funeral and was touched by all of your family and friends. Kelly will do a wonderful job of raising your beautiful children. I know you are watching over them and over your mom, Nenita. God bless you.

Bill Clinton Cries over 9/11 Coverage

Is it just me, or does there seem to be an enormous double standard for how the media (news and entertainment) treats Republicans and Democrats? Right here, we see Hollywood giving a free pass to the Clinton administration, exacerbated by a sympathetic news media.

Did Sandy Berger (Clinton's NSA Advisor) prevent the CIA from capturing bin Laden? I don't know; it's common knowledge that the Clinton administration had multiple opportunities to capture bin Laden but declined to do so. Whether this was one of them, I cannot say. However, the ABC TV series purportedly backs its scenes with eye witness accounts and other evidence, so it seems that there is some veracity to the allegations.

However, the one thing we're not being told by these articles is how Berger was caught stealing classified national security documents in preparation for his testimony before the 9/11 Commission.

I guess what it comes down to is this: If ABC were making a movie about the leadup to the war in Iraq, do you think for one moment that they would give anyone in the Bush administration the benefit of the doubt? This is pure speculation, but I believe the answer would be a big, fat 'no.'

Major Jill Metzger a "Bride Snatching"?

Airforce Major Jill Metzger, stationed at Manas Air Base, was shopping in a Kyrgyzstan mall with friends when she disappeared.
From CNN:

(CNN) -- A U.S. Air Force officer is missing after a trip to a shopping mall in Kyrgyzstan, a U.S. military statement said Wednesday.

Maj. Jill Metzger, with the 376th Air Expeditionary Wing, was last seen shopping at the Zum Shopping Center with others from the Manas Air Base when she disappeared on Tuesday, the statement said.
"Major Metzger was last seen wearing a green sweater and blue jeans," the statement said.
"She has blonde hair and blue eyes. She is in excellent athletic condition."
Military Web sites describe Metzger as a top-flight marathoner.

Both the Kyrgyz police and the US military are searching for her:

The U.S. Embassy in Bishkek has issued pictures of a blonde woman as part of the search operation.
Let's hope she's found quickly.

Update: Maj. Metzger was supposed to
return home on Thursday and went to the mall to buy souvenirs for her family.

Just a footnote this country has a tradition called "Bride kidnapping" which means native men kidnap there brides, I am sure this may have happened to her.

I saw this show on Frontline some months back about it!

These guys go in cars hang out near markets and kidnap an unsuspecting women.

They then take them home where other women, who were kidnapped brainwash them
into submitting to the new husband!

Thousands of young Kyrgyz women are married through "ala kachuu," which translates roughly as "grab and run" .

Time Is Running Out

The Rightroots coalition has a big announcement today. Not only have several new candidates been added to the Rightroots list, but today is the beginning of a challenge to those in the conservative blogosphere to secure 100 donations for each of the Rightroots candidates between now and September 20. Robert Bluey of Human Events has already posted the details, so I will quote him:

Today the Rightroots coalition is proud to announce the addition of three Republican candidates: Mike Bouchard (MI-Sen), Ralph Norman (SC-05) and Andrea Lane Zinga (IL-17). All three are locked in races they can win, but they need your help.

In the case of Bouchard and Norman, they're both challenging incumbent Democrats whose liberal views have led them astray. In Michigan, Sen. Debbie Stabenow has earned the nickname "Do Nothing Debbie." She has a lifetime American Conservative Union rating of 11% -- far from the mainstream in Michigan. Spratt, meanwhile, has a lifetime ACU rating of 25%. We're left asking ourselves how this liberal can still possibly be representing a district in conservative South Carolina.

Andrea Lane Zinga is running for an open seat being vacated by retiring Rep. Lane Evans (D.). Not only is she keeping pace with Democrat Phil Hare, but she's also embraced new media, featuring a blog on her campaign website.

Today also kicks off the start of the Rightroots 15-Day Challenge. You'll be seeing and hearing a lot about this new effort to secure 100 donations for each Rightroots-endorsed candidate between now and September 20.
If you haven't donated yet, now's your chance to help. Click here to make a contribution and help Republicans maintain their majority in Congress, keeping liberals such as Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid from running the show.

Time is running out. Conservative candidates need money to run ads between now and election day. Please do your part to ensure we never have to hear the words Speaker Pelosi.

Video Mr Telephone Man ..New Edition

New Edition was one of the best Groups in American history,
below is there song "Mr Telephone Man".

Voices That Care Music Video!

Great tribute to all our troops that serve this country. Sadly, just 15 years later, we will never see any "Hollywood group" composing a song like this today in support of our troops.

Below are the Lyrics to the whole song

Lonely fear lights up the sky
Cant help but wonder why
Youre so far away

There, you have to take a stand

In someone elses land
Life can be so strange

I wish we never had to choose
To either win or lose,
That we could find a way

But I wont turn my back again,
Your honor Ill defend
So hurry home,
Till then

Stand tall
Stand proud
Voices that care are crying out loud
And when you close your eyes tonight
Feel in your heart how our love burns bright

Im not here to justify the cause
Or to count up all the loss
Thats all been done before

I just cant let you feel alone
When theres so much love at home
Were sending out to you

And the courage that youve known
The bravery that youve shown
Clearly lights the way

We pray to make the future bright
To make the wrong things right

(rap):

Right or wrong, were all praying youll remain strong
Thats why were all here and singing along

Stand tall
Stand proud
Voices that care are crying out loud
And when you close your eyes tonight
Feel in your heart how our love burns bright

And when you close your eyes tonight
Feel in our heart how our love burns bright

You are the voice,
You are the light

Stand tall
Stand proud
Voices that care are crying out loud
And when you close your eyes tonight
Feel in your heart how our love burns bright

Stand tall
Stand proud
Voices that care are crying out loud
And when you close your eyes tonight
Feel in your heart how our love burns bright

You are the voice and the guiding light
Feel in your heart how our love burns bright

Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin dies.

Killed by a stingay... weird. I always thought PETA would do him in.

I don't know what the exact circumstances might have been, but he was a trained professional. He knew how to handle animals and seeing as how stingrays are not that agressive, it was probably a freak accident.

I mean, we've all heard of the stings, but who has heard of the barb actually piercing a persons heart?

I was sad when I heard it and surprised that it was a sting ray. Poor guy didn't even stand a chance. And I don't have anything against what he did with his kid, it is on video, he had plenty of space between the two.

That's how he was raised and that's how he wanted to raise his kids.

Now, if he would have been wrestling the croc with the kid in his arms, then I can see the outrage, but what he really did was not that big of a deal, it was just a bunch of city slickers freaking out because they think there should be a protective bubble around all children and shelter them frrom reality.

Can Hip Hop and Republicanism Meet??

HipHopRepublican.com asked some young people this question

Below are a few comments from around the country

I think that Republican leaders should reach out tothe hip hop industry.
If they can reach out to the oil industry surely they can reach out to this one??
-Richie

Alot of hip hop seems to have victimhood and anti-intellectualist undertones, 2 things that do not usually go to well with the individual resposibility and small govt of a true conservative. I think between hip hop and conservatives they should meet each other half-way.
-Alex

When you think about it, the Conservative GOP is what the hip-hop industry may need. The GOP is a values/morally based party, if the GOP can get into the hip-hop world, the rappers could then make more moralistic/wholesome music that is really politically concious and help blacks reclaim the status it had during the days of original hip-hop. The only catch would be: the rappers would have to in one or another endorse the GOP and/or candidates. The GOP would start pushing funding towards the rap industry and boom..revolution! the minds of young people across America could start to change.
-David

Russell Simmons openly supports Michael Steele, eazy-E was a republican as well...and it's like ive said on here before, most niggas in the hood and rappers have a "republican" mentality anyway just because they don't VOTE (if they vote at all) republican doesn't erase this fact...

Muslims Must Leave Country says Professor

This is true -- WWW.SNOPES.COM

Claim: A Michigan professor sent an e-mail telling Muslim students to leave the country

Status: True.

Professor Wichman E-mail
Hooray for Michigan State University (The Spartans) and Professor Wichman!

Well, what do we have here. Looks like a small case of some people being able to dish it out, but not take it. Let's start at the top. The story begins at Michigan State University with a mechanical engineering professor named Indrek Wichman.

Wichman sent an e-mail to the Muslim Student's Association. The e-mail was in response to the students' protest of the Danish cartoons that portrayed the Prophet Muhammad as a terrorist. The group had complained the cartoons were "hate speech."

Enter Professor Wichman. In his e-mail, he said the following:

Dear Moslem Association:

As a professor of Mechanical Engineering here at MSU I intend to protest your protest.

I am offended not by cartoons, but by more mundane things like beheadings of civilians, cowardly attacks on public buildings, suicide murders, murders of Catholic priests (the latest in Turkey!), burnings of Christian churches, the continued persecution of Coptic Christians in
Egypt, the imposition of Sharia law on non-Muslims, the rapes of Scandinavian girls and women (called "whores" in your culture), the murder of film directors in Holland, and the rioting and looting in Paris, France.

This is what offends me, a soft-spoken person and academic, and many, many, many of my colleagues. I counsel you dissatisfied, aggressive, brutal, and uncivilized slave-trading Moslems to be very aware of this as you proceed with your infantile "protests." If you do not like the values of the West -- see the 1st Amendment -- you are free to leave. I hope for God's sake that most of you choose that option.

Please return to your ancestral homelands and build them up yourselves instead of troubling Americans.

Cordially, I. S. Wichman
Professor of Mechanical Engineering

As you can imagine, the Muslim group at the university didn't like this too well. They're demanding that Wichman be reprimanded and mandatory diversity training for faculty and a seminar on hate and discrimination for freshman.
Now the Michigan chapter of CAIR has jumped into the fray. CAIR, the Council on American-Islamic Relations, apparently doesn't believe that the good professor had the right to express his opinion.

For its part, the university is standing its ground. They say the e-mail was private, and they don't intend to publicly condemn his remarks. That will probably change. Wichman says he never intended the e-mail to be made public and wouldn't have used the same strong language if he'd known it was going to get out.

How's the left going to handle this one? If you're in favor of the
freedom of speech, as in the case of Ward Churchill, will the same protections be demanded for Indrek Wichman? I doubt it.

Send this to your friends, and ask them to do the same. Tell
them to keep passing it around until the whole country gets it. We are in a war. This political correctness crap is getting old.

We are a group of victims who have comforted each other,
and wish to to the same for you.

Remmber you are not alone, we will be here for you
as a network of support.

Leftwing violence is a silent crime, in which victims
hardly ever report.

The silence must be broken, violence is unaccpetable
even if its youre democrat neighbor.

You must speak out!

Just Say no to "Left Wing Violence"

I know t his sounds like the "Maury Show"..but We Want You to Tell us about It!!!

Do not keep it in , it helps to talk about it.

Liberals can get nasty and behave like little spoiled, children when they get mad
and often times the civil society has to pay for there deeds. Many times
the media under reports the violence and nasty attacks of the left.

-Also Hip HopRepublican.com wants any blogger to email us any mention of Democrats elected or not eletected who in the past or present used or use anti semitic, racist, or bigoted words.

The First addition in our series of leftist hate crimes comes from Matthew Flemming

This past January I came out to my car after aday at work to find a note written on the back of aXeroxed copy of an anti-Bush screed informing me thata photo of my vehicle had been posted on an anti-Bushblog site because of the bumper stickers on mytailgate (e.g. Viva Bush!, Protest Warrior, ResistDhimmitude, and Am Chai Yisrael). Since thephotograph was done with my license plate displayed this whole incident was disturbing to say the least. However, as a strong and independent thinking person Iwas able to get over it.

Sincerely yours,

-Matthew J. Fleming

MoveOn.org's "Anti Semetic" Rhetoric

MoveOn.org has offically been taken over by Jew haters, Arab Nationalist Anarchist, and other retards that you see at Anti War Rallies.

Last week, Sen. George Allen personally apologized to a staff member of his Democrat opponent, James Webb, for calling him a "macaca." This was the latest in a string of public apologies for what has been described as a racial slur aimed at individual who is of Indian descent. The moral outrage pouring from the media and Democrats was heartwarming.

It was reassuring to see that such expressions of bigotry by any party, politician or political organization (or movie actor) will not be tolerated. So no doubt the media and the Left will soon turn their attention to the vicious anti-Semitism the followers and members of a political organization that donates millions to Democratic candidates and uses the Web to whip up support for its policies.

I am referring to Moveon.org; an entity that claims it is merely the vehicle of "real Americans — from carpenters to stay-at-home moms to business leaders — we work together to realize the progressive vision of our country's founders." To the extent that Moveon.org is a reflection of its membership, it is also a reflection of the opinions and sentiments it shares about its fellow Americans and citizens of the world.

And boy do the Moveon folks hate Jews.

Maybe Move On.org needs to "Move On or Shut the Hate Up"

September 5, 2006

-- A string of anti-Semitic rants about Sen. Joe Lieberman have popped up on the liberal MoveOn.org open forum Web site, drawing criticism from the Anti-Defamation League.
It's the latest flap in the contentious race between Lieberman, who is running as an independent to keep his seat in Connecticut, and upstart Ned Lamont, the Democratic nominee.

"We recognize that Action Forum is an open forum intended to foster the free flow of ideas," ADL head Abraham Foxman said in a letter dated Aug. 31 to MoveOn, which supported Lamont in the Democratic primary against Lieberman.

"Nevertheless, since such profoundly offensive content is appearing on a board clearly linked to MoveOn.org, we believe you should assume some responsibility to respond to this hateful content," Foxman wrote in the letter, which was forwarded by Lieberman's campaign.

Foxman cited examples from the site's Action Forum, including "media owning Jewish pigs," "Zionazis," a reference to the senator as "Jew Lieberman" and the question, "Why are the Jews so Jew-y?"

Foxman wrote, "Those who allow hate to rear its ugly head under their auspices bear a special responsibility to distance themselves from that hate, and to speak out against it, as loudly as possible."

Lieberman is one of the country's best-known Jewish politicians.

Foxman and Eli Pariser, executive director of the MoveOn Political Action Committee, couldn't be reached.

But in a statement posted on the MoveOn site Saturday, Pariser condemned the anti-Semitic rants.

"Once in a while - as in any public forum - inappropriate material is posted," he wrote. "Recently, a few of the thousands of comments that are posted every week contained anti-Semitic language.

"The comments that were posted were abhorrent. We were dismayed to see them, and removed them as soon as they came to our attention 17 days ago."

He added that most of the comments were not made by MoveOn members and suggested it could be an effort by conservatives to "target" the group, and said any effort to tie the rants to MoveOn was "wrong."

Lamont aides didn't immediately return calls for comment.

"President Calderon", Mexican Court Rules

In another victory for Democracy, Leftist groups in Mexico were dealt a severe blow.

After months of allegations of fraud and recounting ballots in a process that echoed the
US election in 2000, Mexico now has a new President.

Felipe Calderon won Mexico's July 2 election and is president-elect,
Mexico's top electoral court ruled unanimously that pro-business
Calderon won by 234,000 votes out of some 41 million cast.

If Mexican leftiist were trying to reshape there election
based on BUSH Vs Gore 2000, they did so , with the same
results, talk aboout copy cat politics.

Quote Of The Day

"Blacks must decide that they're ready to love themselves. They must face their fear of failure and commit themselves to themselves. They must stop dreading, stop caring, what white people think, if only because no one should set higher standards for black folks than blacks.

After all, whites manage to live with black disapproval. They even manage to interpret that disapproval as proof of black depravity. Can blacks not manage a much less complicated, though watchful, pity for such deluded creatures?"

Green Republicans Leading Green Revolution

What a great website

You don't often hear a Republican say "Tax me!!" but that's exactly what Paul Anderson, chairman of Duke Energy, has proposed. As reported by USA Today, Anderson, a registered Republican, has asked the federal gov't to tax companies based on the greenhouse gases they produce. And he's not just any Republican - he's a major Bush supporter and part of the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology.

MTV Video Music Awards

Booker has some great conclusions from the Music
Awards this past week!

I have seen parts of last night's awards ceremony, which did not inspire. Three things. The Black-Eyed Peas actually won best hip-hop video for "My Humps"?

You have got to be joking! Not only is it an atrocious song, the video is crap. Then there were live performances by
Shakira ("Hips Don't Lie") and Beyonce ("Ring The Alarm").

Now, Shakira can shake her hips with the best of 'em. Her and her dancers' costumes were also pretty. However, ol' girl was seriously off key last night. Beyonce's vocals were much better than what Shakira put out - no surprise, as Beyonce is a far better singer - but what was up with that S&M outfit towards the end? I was expecting Beyonce to pull out a whip or something.

And that dance-only portion of her performance was a rip-off of Janet Jackson's "Rhythm Nation" from back in the day. Sorry, Janet did it better too. Mind you (unlike "Hips Don't Lie"), I actually like "Ring The Alarm" as a song. One irony: Pink receiving her best pop video award - for "Stupid Girls", which is a great song and a great video - by Nicole Richie.
