THE DANISH IMAM'S BOMB THREAT

THE DANISH IMAM'S BOMB THREAT
By Michelle Malkin
Danish Imam Ahmed Akkari, who helped inflame the Cartoon Jihad, has reportedly been taped on a hidden camera threatening to kill Naser Khader, a member of Denmark's Parliament who recently founded an organization for moderate Muslims.
According to Bibelen and Agora, this Jyllands-Posten article reports that Akkari said of Khader: "If one day he should become minister for immigrants or integration, shouldn't one then send over two guys to blow up him and his ministry?"
The footage is schedule to air tonight in a French documentary. Akkari at first denied making the threat, but now claims it was a joke (via Agora):
If they think I have said that, then I must have been jesting. […] You also need to understand, from the context, that I wasn’t being serious because I usually don’t say stuff like that - not even in jest. But sometimes things happen.
Agora has comprehensive background on Akkari and rounds up the fallout:
Naser Khader has recovered enough to give a statement to the news agency Ritzau. Ritzaus reports that he is still shaken by the statement but wants to see the documentary and hear what is said in Arabic before he issues a statement: "But this is in any case still very, very discomforting."
Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen has issued a statement: "I only know of the case from the media. But if things are the way they seem, I find reason to express horror that anyone could seriously consider saying that. It’s quite shocking shocking that an elected Danish politician is threatened like that. I assume the police will investigate what’s what in this case and then I count on them to deal with it."
