Colonel Robert “Councillor” Carter, III (born c. 1727 - died 1804) a.k.a. "Citizen" Robert Carter, a.k.a. "King" Carter

Robert Carter was an American plantation owner, founding father and onetime British government official who, after the death of his wife 1787, embraced the Swedenborgian faith and released more than 500 slaves from his estate—which included Nomony Hall plantation and his very large house in Williamsburg, Virginia.

He was born and raised in Virginia Colony and as a young man inherited a very large estate there including over 100 slaves. Raised in the Church of England, he converted to the Baptist faith and then eventually to Swedenborgianism. From Baptist and Swedenborgian principles and influences he came to the conclusion that human slavery was immoral.

Accordingly, he instituted a program of gradual manumission of all the slaves attached to his estate, which continued after his death. The program was designed to be gradual so as to lessen the resistance of white neighbors. Frequently, Carter rented land to recently freed slaves, sometimes evicting previous white tennants.

He was appointed to the Virginia Council by King George II and then reappointed by King George III. Later, despite expressing support of the crown after George III's repeal of the Stamp Act 1765, he resigned as Councillor and eventually supported the American cause in the Revolution.

Toward the end of his life, he moved from Virginia to Baltimore, Maryland, in part to get away from family and neighbors who looked askance upon his Swedenborgian faith and upon his program of manumission.

African American Vernacular English (AAVE),

known colloquially as Ebonics, also called Black English, Black Vernacular or Black English Vernacular, is a dialect and ethnolect of American English. Similar in certain pronunciational respects to common southern U.S. English, the dialect is spoken by many African Americans in the United States. AAVE shares many characteristics with various pidgin and creole English dialects spoken by blacks worldwide. AAVE also has grammatical origins in, and pronunciational characteristics in common with, various West African languages. The term Ebonics, which is a portmanteau of ebony and phonics, has been suggested as an alternative name for this dialect. However, that name is not widely used in linguistic literature, although it enjoys considerable common use as a result of the controversy surrounding it (see below). Robert L. Williams, a linguistics professor at Washington University, created the term Ebonics in 1973, then detailed it in his 1975 book, Ebonics: The True Language of Black Folks. The term was not widely known until the late 1990s, when it became a controversial topic in the United States, mainly over its linguistic status.

AAVE has its deepest roots in the trans-Atlantic African slave trade, but also has features of English spoken in the British Isles during the 16th and 17th centuries. Distinctive patterns of language usage among African slaves and, later, African Americans arose out of the need for multilingual populations of African captives to communicate among themselves, and with their captors. During the Middle Passage, these captives, many of them already multi-lingual speakers of dialects of Wolof, Twi, Hausa, Yoruba, Dogon, Akan, Kimbundu, Bambara and other languages, developed pidgins — simplified mixtures of two or more languages. Over time in the Americas, some of these pidgins became fully developed creole languages. Significant numbers of African Americans still speak some of these creole languages, notably Gullah on the Sea Islands of South Carolina and Georgia.

As a language is used by isolated and diverging groups of people, the language itself becomes isolated and divergent and splits off into various dialects. Pronunciational aspects of AAVE are based in large part on the Southern American English variety, an influence that no doubt was reciprocal as the dialects diverged. The traits of AAVE that separate it from standard English include grammatical structures traceable to West African languages; changes in pronunciation along definable patterns, many of which are found in Creole and pidgin dialects of other populations of West African descent (but which also emerge in English pidgin dialects uninfluenced by West African languages, such as Newfoundland English); distinctive slang; and differences in the use of tenses. AAVE also has a substantial vocabulary little understood among speakers of other dialects of English, but has contributed several words with African origins now in common use in SAE: "gumbo", "goober", "yam", "banjo", "bogus" — and even some slang (which should NOT be confused with AAVE since the latter has developed over several centuries with consistent grammatical patterns, while slang represents mainly short-lived fads in colloquial speech) expressions, such as "hip" and "hep cat". It should be noted that in areas of close socialization between speakers of AAVE and other groups, many speakers of AAVE are NOT black.

AAVE's departure from Southern American English was a natural consequence of cultural differences between blacks and whites. sociologists, linguists and psychologists, however, believe divergent development of this kind is often passive subversion. Language becomes a means of self-differentiation that helps forge group identity, solidarity and pride. In the case of African Americans, AAVE has survived and thrived through the centuries also as a result of various degress of isolation from Southern American English and Standard American English--through both self-segregation and marginalization from mainstream society.

Most speakers of AAVE are bidialectical since they use Standard American English (SAE) to varying degrees as well as AAVE. Generally speaking, the degree of exclusive use of AAVE decreases with the rise in socioeconomic status, although speakers of AAVE typically readily understand SAE at all socioeconomic levels. Most African Americans, regardless of socioeconomic status, educational background, or geographic region, use some form of AAVE to various degress in informal and intra-ethnic communication. This process of selective language usage, based on social context, is called code switching. Some phrases in AAVE have entered popular American culture, and these may be employed contextually by speakers belonging to diverse ethnic groups.

AAVE is often erroneously perceived by members of mainstream American society to indicate inferior intelligence or low educational attainment. Furthermore, as with many other creole dialects, AAVE sometimes has been called "lazy" or "bad" English by those who do not understand the process of creolization. A similar perception exists with regard to SAE in Britain and other English-speaking nations. Such appraisals also may be due in part to AAVE's substitution of aspect for tense in some cases and certain grammatical and phonological reductions. Some challenge whether AAVE should be considered a dialect at all. However, among linguists there is no such controversy, since AAVE, like all dialects, shows consistent internal logic and structure.

In the late 1990s, the formal recognition of AAVE as a distinct dialect and its proposed use as an educational tool, as Ebonics, to help African American students become more fluent in SAE became a controversial subject in the United States.

Prior to their execution, the teenagers were held in prison for 14 months and severely beaten with 228 lashes

I find it absolutely stunning that someone like Jon Stewart, who complains about slanted news shows like Crossfire, hasn't yet been scolded for his show, which is so liberal leaning, it's about ready to tip over. I guess if you're slanted toward what he believes, then that's OK.

The saddest part about Jon Stewart is that he used to be funny, one hell of a comedian, and he had a decent little show on Comedy Central. Then he decided to get political (which is a cardinal sin in the comedy world since you alienate half your audience right away) and starting turning the show into a liberal bonanza. Robert Traynham was"outed" even though he was already out, but the Mike Rogers

demanding he repond to a blogger!

In such a case having known a face who is gay is very positive,

The Arabic Rapper..who got Fired!

Bassam Khalaf, who is known as the Arabic Assassin on his unreleased rap CD, "Terror Alert," has lyrics that glorify the 9/11 hijackers, and describes himself as a "crazy, suicidal Arabic ... equipped with bombs."

And until last week, he screened luggage passing through Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston.

"I've been screening your bags for the past six months, and you don't even know it," said Khalaf, who also said Thursday that he is not really a terrorist and that his rhymes are exaggerations meant to gain publicity.
An Internet search of Khalaf's name brings up Web sites that feature his obscene, violent and misogynistic raps that threaten to fly a plane into a building on Sept. 11, 2005.

Khalaf, 21, was hired on Jan. 16 and fired July 7, according to a TSA termination letter that cited his "authorship of songs which applaud the efforts of the terrorists on September 11th, encourage and warn of future acts of terrorism by you, discuss at length and in grave and alarming detail various criminal acts you intend to commit, state your belief that the U.S. government should be overthrown, and finally warn that others will die on September 11, 2005."

A Letter to Julian Bond

Dear Mr Julian Bond,

I am in my twenties and African American
For most of my life I was stayed away from politics.

But I am now.
Today I am a new registered Republican!

Here are just a few reasons why!

I believe in the Promise of America
and the goodness of the American People.

I believe that the roots of our society are found in strong families, personal faith, solid communities, and love of country

I believe that our flag, the Stars & Stripes, is a true and unique symbol of the pride and patriotism Americans share in their beloved nation

I believe that America is still the shining city on a hill and represents the dreams and aspirations of current and future generations of American citizens

I believe that our government is best when it is closest to the people that it serves

I believe that government and governmental programs should be efficient and provide full accountability for the practices and policies its leaders propose and implement

I believe in the spirit of free enterprise, in which capitalism is the best means to keep our economy running strong, both now and in the future

I believe that while government can and should be the provider of some essential services, it should function with limited taxation, financial efficiency and the adoption of innovations to allow taxpayers to get the most for their hard-earned tax dollars

I believe that America's military is the most powerful military force in the world, and that our brave men and women who serve our nation deserve the respect and admiration a grateful nation can only bestow

I believe that governments first and foremost responsibility is the providing of safety and security to our citizens

It seems sur that you have have a complex problem,you do not understand that its youre hateful words that kept Bush from attending the NAACP!

It is not that Bush hates the NAACP, its that Bush dislikes the partisan, nasty tone of "Julian Bond".

If you where to be more considerate, Bush would no doubt come and speak. As he has done in the past. Mr Bond you know that youre words hurt and you play off of this. You know that the harsher the tone
the more unlikley Bush will appear.

You used this to youre advantage by noting that this was the fifth straight NAACP convention that President Bush has failed to attend.

You went on to say that This administration says its made up of true believers, but its really made up of true deceivers,

Mr Bond you should be ashame of youreself, these statement are hateful, and untruthful!

Attaking some ones religion under the guise of political spin, is tacky,
and unbecoming of some one of youre stature!

You then go on sur to attack the President on Judical Nominations,bu saying,

There is no issue of greater importance than the upcoming confirmation battle around the nominee who will fill the vacancy created by Sandra Day OConnors resignation from the Supreme Court,. You added that President Bush must select a nominee who upholds the principles of justice and freedom, and demonstrates a sense of fairness and independence"

I think you should also extend the
same sense of fairness and independence you ask of Bush!


Noting that the group was meeting on the 40th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act, Bond appealed for an energetic campaign to have Congress renew the acts provisions as they expire.

You for some reason neglected to mention that a Republican
House Judiciary Committee Chairman F. James Sensenbrenner Jr. (R-Wis.) had already planned to announce at the NAACP's annual convention that he will work to extend portions of the Voting Rights Act that are scheduled to expire in 2007.


You then went on then to use this event as comparative to the Florida Election debacle!

Are our voting rights secure? you asked the crowd. Just look at Florida in 2000
and Ohio in 2004,you said, citing instances of polling place irregularities, voter intimidation, misinformation and fraud that disenfranchised thousands of African Americans.

Continuing you went on to say the Bush administrations policies are particularly destructive, Look how theyve gone after labor unions. Theyre attacking Social Security, the underpinning of every retiring Americans dream. Theyre outsourcing jobs. Theyre even outsourcing torture.

What was the Southern Strategy?

Southern strategy refers to the focus of the Republican party on winning U.S. Presidential elections by securing the electoral votes of the U.S. Southern states. It is also used in a more general sense, in which cultural (especially racial) themes are used in an election — primarily but not exclusively in the American South.


Prior to the 1960s, both of the major U.S. parties were much more mixed, ideologically and geographically, than they are today. The Democratic party contained both a liberal, Northern/Midwestern bloc and a conservative Southern bloc. Republicans were also split ideologically, including a conservative activist base as well as a liberal wing from the Northeast.




In 1948, a group of Democratic congressmen, led by Governor Strom Thurmond of South Carolina, split from the Democrats in reaction to an anti-segregation speech given by Senator Hubert Humphrey of Minnesota, founding the States Rights Democratic or Dixiecrat Party, which ran Thurmond as its presidential candidate. The Dixiecrats, failing to deny the Democrats the presidency in 1948, soon dissolved, but the split lingered. The party's principles were revived by Senator Barry Goldwater of Arizona, the 1964 Republican presidential candidate. Goldwater was notably more conservative than previous Republican nominees like Dwight Eisenhower; Goldwater's opponent in the primary election, Governor Nelson Rockefeller of New York, was widely seen as representing the more moderate, Northern wing of the party. Rockefeller's defeat in the primary is seen as the beginning of the end for moderates and liberals in the Republican party.



Roots of the Southern Strategy
At this point, the debate begins. The facts are this: in the 1964 presidential race, Goldwater adopted an extremely conservative stance. In particular, he emphasized the issue of what he called "states' rights". As a conservative, Goldwater did not favor strong action by the federal government--for instance, though not a segregationist personally, he strongly opposed the Civil Rights Act of 1964 on the grounds that, first, it was an intrusion of the federal government into the affairs of states and second, it was an interference with the rights of private persons to do business, or not, with whomever they chose. This was a popular stand in the Southern states; whether or not this was specifically a tactic designed to appeal to racist Southern white voters is a matter of debate. Regardless, the only states that Goldwater won in 1964 besides Arizona, were five Deep Southern states, Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and South Carolina.

The Southern Strategy was deployed even more effectively by Richard Nixon in the election of 1968. Nixon, with the aid of now-Senator Thurmond, who had switched to the Republican party in 1964, ran on a campaign of states' rights and "law and order." As a result every state that had been in the Confederacy, except Texas, voted for either Nixon or Southern Democrat George Wallace, despite a strong tradition of supporting Democrats. Meanwhile, Nixon parlayed a wide perception as a moderate into wins in other states, taking a solid majority in the electoral college. That is why the election of 1968 is sometimes cited as a realigning election.



As civil rights grew more accepted throughout the nation, basing a general election strategy on appeals to "states' rights" as a naked play against civil rights laws grew less effective; there was a greater danger of a national backlash. Nevertheless, in 1980, when Ronald Reagan initiated his general election campaign after accepting the Republican Party nomination, he did so with a speech in which he stated his support of states' rights. He did so at a county fair in Neshoba County, Mississippi, which was also known as the place where three civil rights advocates were murdered in 1964. Reagan went on to make a speech praising Jefferson Davis, the strongly pro-slavery president of the Confederacy and states' rights advocate, at Stone Mountain, Georgia, site of the founding of the modern Klan. A prominent Klan leader endorsed Reagan, but he disavowed the endorsement and moved to neutralize any negative publicity by securing the support of noted Southern civil rights activists Hosea Williams and Ralph David Abernathy.



An appeal to racism may have played a role in subsequent Republican races for the House and Senate in the South. The Willie Horton commercials used by supporters of George H.W. Bush in the election of 1988 may also have been such an appeal. Other examples include the 1990 re-election campaign of Jesse Helms, which attacked his opponent's alleged support of "racial quotas." Many ardent Democratic party supporters claim that support for federalism in the Republican party platform is, and always has been, nothing but a code word for racism, a charge Republicans consistently deny. Such allegations typically peak after a racially charged controversy involving Republicans, such as Senator Trent Lott's supportive remarks at Thurmond's hundredth birthday celebration.

Leaving aside all questions of race, the Republicans have continued to modify the Southern strategy, and to use it not only within the South, but in conservative areas of the Midwest and other regions. As racism became less politically palatable as a lone motivator, it was augmented by divisions based on other cultural issues like abortion, school prayer, or funding for the National Endowment for the Arts. These cultural differences are emphasized rather than economic issues including tariffs, federal job spending, and so on (with the single exception of taxes). They play on perceived and actual cultural differences between the South and other parts of the nation; the South is seen as more religious and traditional than, say, New England. An example of this new iteration of the Southern strategy can be seen in this quote from Pat Buchanan, a famously conservative political pundit, in which he denounces John Kerry (the 2004 Democratic contender for President) as:

...a Massachusetts liberal who voted against the Defense of Marriage Act, backs civil unions for homosexuals, voted to defend the infanticide known as partial-birth abortion and wants to raise the federal income taxes that George Bush lowered. [1]
The strategy can be seen in the phrase "Massachusetts liberal", emphasizing Kerry's alleged cultural alienness to the South, and in the emphasis on cultural, rather than economic, issues. A 2004 book by Thomas Frank, entitled What's the Matter with Kansas?, revolves around the rise of cultural issues as a Republican strategy.

Dean said Democrats won't divide the nation to win an election.

He urged NAACP members to give Republicans a chance, saying the party would help them own their own businesses and homes and save for retirement.

"We're not asking for you to embrace all of our policies," he said. "All we're asking is for a fair hearing."

Would personal accounts cut benefits?

Under any reasonable projections, personal accounts would actually provide higher benefits than Social Security can pay. If we move to personal accounts, will it hurt people on Social Security today?

No one age 55 or older will have his or her Social Security benefits changed in any way. Despite scare tactics by opponents of personal accounts, no one who is currently receiving Social Security benefits under the old system is going to have them taken away or reduced. This proposal is about making a better system for their children and grandchildren




Would personal accounts "Enronize" Social Security?

In fact, personal accounts are nothing like Enron. Under the Cato plan, workers could invest only in diversified, approved mutual funds, not in single stocks or highly volatile stocks.

The current Social Security system is actually more like Enron:



Like Enron, Social Security uses ambiguous "trust fund" type accounting that exaggerates its assets and hides its liabilities.
Like Enron, Social Security gives workers little control over their savings.
Like Enron, Social Security doesn't allow workers to diversify. Low-wage workers have nothing but Social Security.
Like Enron, Social Security is going broke. Not as fast-but that won't matter to workers who are affected.
In the end, the Enron scandal revealed that people need more choice and more control over their retirement savings, including the option to invest part of their payroll taxes in individual retirement accounts.

In today's bitter partisan atmosphere, attitudes toward Social Security reform often get caught up in politics. But Social Security is far too important to rely on politics as usual. This issue concerns future of our children and grandchildren, not whether or not you like President Bush.

Over the years, many prominent Democrats have supported personal accounts as part of Social Security reform. They include the late senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan, as well as former senators Robert Kerry and Chuck Robb and former congressmen Tim Penny and Charlie Stenholm. Even former president Clinton had this to say about Social Security reform:

If you don't like privatizing Social Security, and I don't like it very much, but you want to do something to try to increase the rate of return, what are your options?

Well one thing you could do is to give people one or two percent of the payroll tax, with the same options that Federal employees have with their retirement accounts; where you have three mutual funds that almost always perform as well or better than the market and a fourth option to buy government bonds, so you get the guaranteed social security return and a hundred percent safety just like you have with Social Security.
This should be an issue that unites all Americans regardless of party affiliation




Are there other ways to fix Social Security besides personal accounts?

Former president Bill Clinton laid out the very limited options for fixing the problem: raise taxes, cut benefits, or privately invest. Certainly, it is possible to raise taxes or cut benefits enough to prop up the existing system for a little while longer. But the Social Security payroll tax is already the biggest tax that the average American family pays. Do we really want our legacy to our children and grandchildren to be the largest tax increase in American history? Cutting benefits would be no better. Already, younger workers can expect a low, below-market return on their Social Security taxes. Benefit cuts would only make a bad deal worse.

Besides, raising taxes or cutting benefits would not do anything about Social Security's biggest problem: workers have no ownership of or control over their money. Only a system of personal accounts would give that ownership and control to workers.

Aren't personal accounts too risky?



Of course we all know that stocks can go down as well as up. But over the long term, investing is remarkably safe. Over the last 80 years, private investment in the United States has earned an average annual return of nearly 8 percent. That period included not only the market decline of the last few years but the Great Depression, World War II, several smaller wars, numerous recessions, the "stagflation" of the 1970s, and the bursting of the dot.com bubble as well. We need to remember that, with compound interest and stocks held over the working life of a typical U.S. worker, the money grows, even if the returns on that investment are lower in some years than in others.

Some people ask, "What if I had had a personal retirement account and had retired in 2002 when the tech bubble burst and the stock market lost so much money?" Good question. If you retired in 2002, most likely you would have been contributing to your personal retirement account for at least 25 years and probably longer. If you started investing in 1978, the Dow Jones Industrial Average was 742. At the low point of 2002, it was 7,286. Despite the crash, you would have received a far higher return than you would have seen from Social Security. The numbers are even more amazing for 40 years of investing. Retirement investments are long-term investments, and historically long-term investing in the American stock market is the best deal going.

In contrast, Social Security is becoming an increasingly bad deal for workers. We know that young workers can expect a return on their Social Security taxes of 1.5 percent or less. Furthermore, workers and retirees must keep in mind that Congress can change their benefits at any time. Thus workers and retirees must always consider the political risk of paying into the Social Security system when they have no legal right to benefits.

Beware of those who refer to Social Security as providing "guaranteed" benefits. Retirees have no legal right to benefits, and nothing prevents Congress from changing the benefit levels at any time. Thus the risk of being in the stock market must be weighed against the political risk of a program that provides no legal rights to participants.

Moreover, there will still be a safety net. Every personal retirement account proposal includes a safety net such that no one will fall below a certain level of retirement benefits. The Cato plan proposes a safety net so that no one will fall below the poverty line. That is a higher level than the current minimum benefit under Social Security.

And finally, keep in mind that personal retirement accounts are voluntary. If you are uncomfortable with the stock and bond market with all of its risks and you are more comfortable with the current Social Security system with all of its risks you can always choose to stay in the current Social Security system.

Bhakti Tirtha Swami, a guru and Governing Body Commissioner of the worldwide Hare Krishna movement, passed away of complications from melanoma cancer on June 27, at Gita Nagari, the Krishna community in Pennsylvania. He was 55 years old.

Bhakti Tirtha Swami was the world’s first African-American Vaishnava Hindu guru. Born as John E. Favors to an evangelical Baptist family in Cleveland, Ohio in 1950, Bhakti Tirtha Swami took part in Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s civil rights movement during his youth. After earning his psychology degree from Princeton University in 1972, he began studying the 5,000-year-old Bhagavad Gita and other Vedic scriptures. He soon became a disciple of A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, who founded the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) and brought the ancient Vaishnava tradition to the west in 1965.

The Mexican people for the most part have no idea who black people are! Most Mexicans have never laid eyes on a real black person. My best freind lives near in Mexicali near the USA border. He is my best freind Karlos. Karlos had never met a black person before, only on tv. A freind said to me that these picture seem like 1930 usa minstral show's. Show's which use to depict black as stupid and funny. Also most Spanish televison is white! I never see real brown mexican on spanish tv. They are all white, and blonde hair. My faviorte latin show is Christina, which is a spanish talk show.

All the guys fight each other are dark skinned, and impovershied.They like the Argentines, Venzuilains and Brazilians, hold racist ideas that would shock most Americans! Some radical Mexican's think they own LA, and are always screaming about brown power! They are a slew of racist brown orginzation's through out the states. Most of these gangs are joined in prison, where when they are released to spread hate. African American's and whites have the same legacy. As latino's grow in power, we will have to deal with this also. I remmeber watching Speedy Gonzales when I was a child, I loved the show. But as I grew older and heard Mexican freinds

He is known for the cartooning studio he founded, his highly influential series The Spirit, his use of comics as an instructional medium for the U.S. military, his leading role in establishing the graphic novel as a form of literature with his book A Contract with God, and his educational work about the medium as exemplified by his book Comics and Sequential Art.



Eisner later expressed mixed feelings about his portrayal of Ebony White. He acknowledged that he was conscious at the time that he was using a racial stereotype and was unapologetic about it, but defended doing so by stating that "at the time humor consisted in our society of bad English and physical difference in identity." In reference to his graphic novel Fagin the Jew, Eisner acknowledged parallels between Charles Dickens' use of racial stereotyping for that character (which Eisner criticized) and Eisner's own portrayal of White, but asserted that his own work had not "capitalized on" the stereotype!

Lets hope the Mexican Authority at least have as much backbone as Eisner!

Murder Suspect: White Woman Had to Die

WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. — A homeless ex-convict accused of killing a 56-year-old woman in a parking garage near a suburban mall told police that he was fighting a race war and killed her because she was white.

The man, Phillip Grant, 43, appeared at a court hearing Tuesday in shackles and a bulletproof vest. In a 45-minute videotape played during the hearing, Grant told police, "All I knew was she had blond hair and blue eyes and she had to die."

Grant, who is black, claimed Connie Russo-Carriero (search) "was not an innocent victim — because she was white."

Russo-Carriero, a legal secretary and mother of two grown children, was stabbed to death last Wednesday afternoon while walking to her car at a parking garage next to the Galleria Mall. She was buried Tuesday.

Grant was charged with second-degree murder and weapon possession. Westchester County District Attorney Jeanine Pirro said he could also be charged with a hate crime.

On the tape, Grant, a convicted rapist, said he was sick of being harassed on the street for being a registered sex offender. He also complained that Westchester County (search) never helped him with his mental problems.

He also told police he was not remorseful for the killing and would hurt white people again if he could.

He told the judge in court Tuesday that he had wanted a journalist and his lawyer at the videotaping but they weren't there.

The judge ordered the case to go before a grand jury.

Grant served more than 20 years in prison and is labeled as a "level 3" sex offender, the most serious classification.

Author Terry McMillan's messy divorce action pretty much boils down to her contention that she unknowingly got her groove back with a scheming gay guy. In a blistering back-and-forth flurry, McMillan, 53, and hubby Jonathan Plummer, 30, have traded charges of duplicity, homophobia, and embezzlement, according to documents filed in California's Contra Costa Superior Court. The writer, whose best sellers include "Waiting to Exhale" and "How Stella Got Her Groove Back," married Plummer in September 1998, three years after meeting him at a Jamaican resort (he was 20 at the time; she was 42). McMillan incorporated the older-woman-finds-love-with-a-younger-man theme into "Stella," which later became a hit movie starring Angela Bassett and Taye Diggs. But McMillan now dismisses that love story as a fairy tale, claiming that Plummer hid his homosexuality from her so that he could eventually secure U.S. citizenship. Plummer, she charges in one court filing, engaged in a "10-year pattern of deception" that included his theft from her of $200,000. Below you'll find a series of court filings in the divorce case, including a declaration filed this month by Plummer claiming that McMillan repeatedly harassed him after he disclosed last year that he was gay. Plummer said that McMillan has tormented him in a series of vitriolic letters, one of which concluded, "I wish I had never met your sneaky ass. I wish I had never married you. I do hate you Jonathan...And I hate all the Fags out there like you who use women to hide behind so that you can walk the streets of America without a care in the world...you're a Fag alright."

Grammy-award winning rapper Lil' Kim was sentenced Wednesday to a year and a day in prison and fined $50,000 (U.S.) for lying to a federal grand jury to protect friends involved in a 2001 shootout outside a Manhattan radio station.

The artist, who turns 30 next week, was the sidekick and mistress of the late Notorious B.I.G. As a solo artist, she has become known for her revealing outfits and raunchy lyrics.

Hate Crime in Howard Beach and Gotti Boys

The local media has been in a frenzy all this week in Howard Beach ,New York. Howard Beach nearly 19 years ago was in the news after a gang of whites beat and chased three blacks who ventured into Howard Beach on foot when their car broke down.
Michael Griffith, 23, was struck and killed by a car as he fled his attackers.

Recent news articles have been obsessed with a bias crime against another group of black men. They were beaten by two white male's Nicholas Minucci,Anthony Enchat at around 3am in the morning while trying to steal a car!

The local news media jumped on the fact that the area of the crime has a history of racial problems! The media jumped to the conclusion that it was a bias crime. If so the guy should be put in jail for a long time!

But the guy to me did not seem to be a hardcore racist. He claimed the guys were gonna steal his bling, and may be reacted using racial epithets. I am not sure if that alone is a bias crime! The reason I say this is because, hip hop culture has blurred racial language. Many african americans who fight with latino's are also called racial names. But these same latin guys have black freinds, date black women, and listen to hip hop music.Also when I was in high school, white guys tlike these were jerks..but not racist. They would however often make the best recipe for a racist, but most were not there, at least not yet! Most of these guys I know are not racist today as adults. This is to say that racial words, may be words of frustration, rather than words of bias. My blog readers, should also note that the lawyer for the defendant said “He's upset that the incident happened. It’s wrong that Mr. Moore is hospitalized with a serious injury, and my client denies that it was racially motivated,” said Attorney Siccardi. This guy reminds me of the Gotti boys. But again this is not this jerks first time In 2001, a 15-year-old named Nicholas Minucci allegedly beat an elderly Sikh gentleman with a baseball bat while spitting racial epithets against ‘Arabs’ (via Turbanhead). He allegedly lay in wait outside the main gurudwara in Queens and shot several people with a paintball gun.
Because the attack happened the day of 9/11, Attar Singh chose not to press charges, saying it was a time for healing. Another Sikh did press charges, but the conviction was overturned on appeal. Or he could be a Gotti boy, trying to be tough, rich, flashy and powerful! So he could be a racist or maybe like the Ghotti's he has a chip on his shoulder. Maybe like the Gotti's he does love his "bling bling"

Ignorant maybe... Racist Maybe! One thing for sure, the guys stealing the cars and the Racist/Gotti Boy both got a wake up call!

Just a side note, today about 3 days after this post I read that Nick is freind's with one of the Gotti Boys! Now thats some scary shit!

Affirmative Action/Reverse Discrimnation

The debate surrounding Affirmative Action, is a heated one. I have tried to provide some links os that people can follow the pro and con arguments! The both are relvant, so it makes it hard to decide! But maybe we do not have to decide, maybe a compromise can be hammered out! Lets hope so. Everyone needs to be able to aspire in this country!
I personaly belive that it should be based on econimic's and geography!

Purpose
Affirmative action originally began as a government remedy for past government injustices. Affirmative action exists to change the distribution of jobs, education, wealth, or other things, based on characteristics that usually include race, sex, or ethnicity.

How is justice defined?

Joseph Addison in The Guardian once said, "There is no virtue so truly great and godlike as justice." But today the great question is: How is justice defined?

Progressives or liberals have essentially identified justice with material equality. Thus, a "just" society is one where wealth is equally distributed and everyone has access to life's basic needs. This approach, however desirable it may be, cannot possibly be defined as justice. It is at best unrealistically utopian. Material equality can never be achieved, not even in the basics of life, and efforts to produce it only result in the worst forms of injustice, where eventually private property is seized and distributed through acts of tyranny.

Foreign aid ultimately undermines Democracy

I was excited when I saw this on the BBC website, it was a confirmation to what I had already knew! This is an account of Andrew Mwenda, a Ugandan radio journalist. To all my blog readers listen to his account of Uganda! Here you can get aglimpse into some of the major issues facing Africa!

After months of work they came up with the same old mantras: doubling aid, cancelling debt and reducing trade tariffs and subsidies.

They're ignoring reality. For the last 40 years, Africa's been getting more, not less, aid - we've received more than $500bn. But we are getting poorer not richer.

Let me show you, through the experience of my homeland Uganda how these recommendations don't - and won't - work.

Donor support

Uganda is considered one of Africa's economic success stories. Yet we rely on foreign aid for nearly half the country's budget.

You would assume that Uganda cannot fund its own development. But that's not the case.

The government has got money, but chooses to spend it on political patronage and its army. It doesn't even collect the taxes it is owed.

Allen Kagina, the Commissioner General of Uganda's tax authority, acknowledges that Uganda collects only a fraction of the tax it could.


Uganda was forgiven its debts... as a consequence, government indulged itself in very luxurious expenditure... and invaded Congo and Sudan

"The URA has been lax in collecting," she told me.

"If donors cut off we'd have to collect 100%. We don't have the capacity to do that just yet."

She does believe the URA could fund the national budget - it would be "difficult but it is achievable." And she also said that Uganda should aim to reduce donor support.

But Tony Blair is talking of doubling aid to Africa. Yet some African economies are so small that the amount of aid they're getting is already skewing the economy.

Foreign aid enriches politicians, bureaucrats and aid workers, whose consumption fuels inflation.

The Ugandan government is receiving so much foreign aid that the economy is unable to absorb it. Treasury bills have to be used to suck the money out of the system. As a result, the Central Bank is holding $700m in treasury bills, and the interest on that per annum is $120m - which is incurred by the tax payer.

All in all, a very expensive exercise.

Fair trade

Uganda's Finance Minister Dr Ezra Suruma said the country does consider finding better ways of managing aid to be "very important".

"The problem is what we do with it - whether we invest or consume it," she added.

"We need to invest more in equipment, technology, infrastructure and so on. Aid must be properly used to increase our capacity to produce more income."

And what of Blair's other proposal, fair trade?

Changing tariffs and subsidies in Europe and the USA will not lift Africa's business out of the doldrums.

Again, why don't we learn our lesson? This has been tried already and hasn't worked.

Under the Cotounou Agreement for preferential trade with Europe, for example, Uganda has a quota to export 50,000 metric tons of sugar to the European Union - duty free.

But it's never been fulfilled. In fact, not even one kilogram of Ugandan sugar has been exported to the EU. We can't even grow enough sugar in Uganda to satisfy the domestic market.

It's the domestic environment that holds trade expansion back.

At Ugachick - which produces 400,000 chicks each month and produces meat which it sells both in Uganda and surrounding countries - managing director Aga Sekalala wants to expand - but he needs affordable credit, and with interest rates up to 18% this is not available.

Then there's the physical infrastructure.

Last week someone stole the electric cable linking Ugachick to the grid. It took five days to fix it, and it only happened then because Ugachick provided the manpower to carry the poles.

"The infrastructure, the roads, power - all of this is our headache, when it should be the government's," he said.

Entrepreneurs like Aga should be the engines for creating wealth in Uganda.

If he expanded, so would his contributions to the revenue. He's energetic and ready to move forward.

But there is no imperative for the government to help him. Any financial gap in the budget, and they only need to turn to the international donors to fill it.

Unsustainable debt

If only foreign aid could be shifted from lining corrupt politicians' and bureaucrats' pockets to developing private enterprise, then Africa would have hope.

And what of the third of the Blair Commission proposals - debt cancellation? Many people think that debt cancellation is a clear cut solution to Africa's indebtedness.

But think again. Common sense tells you it's wrong to reward bad economic behaviour.

My friend Ben Kavuya, a money lender here in Kampala, deals with bad debtors by taking their property, their collateral.

He believes if you forgive bad debts it teaches bad lessons, creating a culture of defaulting.

That's certainly exactly what happened with Uganda.

In 1998 Uganda was forgiven its debts through the Highly Indebted Poor Countries Initiative.

As a consequence, government indulged itself in very luxurious expenditure - increasing the size of Parliament - and invaded Congo and Sudan.

And not only that, it went on a renewed borrowing spree and today, seven years later, Uganda's debt has more than doubled and now it is unsustainable.

Parliament is so foreign aid-dependent that even the chairs and desks are funded by Denmark.

And worse, with so much of our country's budget in the hands of the foreign aid donors, the power of Ugandan voters to hold our government to account has been usurped by international creditors - precisely because he who pays the piper calls the tune.

In this way, foreign aid undermines democracy.

Foreign aid does not help the poor out of their misery - it exacerbates their problems and prolongs their agony.

Taxpayers in the west should not be asked to pay to keep corrupt and incompetent governments in power.

Perpetuateing a Culture of Dependency

Many leaders in Africa want to keeep the status quo, they like events like Live 8. They like this because, it guarantess, money in there pockets!

According to a leading think tank researcher "British and EU policy on foreign aid is likely to perpetuate a culture of dependency in the continent, which will impede rather than accelerate the positive changes needed to haul Africa into the 21st century. Significantly, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) warned last week that increased levels of foreign aid will not boost economic growth in Africa.

There is no guarantee that Western aid will be used properly by Third World countries. All too often, foreign aid has enriched political elites in Africa and Asia, while failing to benefit ordinary people. A perfect example has been that of Africa’s most populous country, Nigeria, whose rulers for 40 years squandered the wealth of an oil rich nation that possesses vast natural resources. Nigeria’s Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, set up in 2002, recently revealed that the country’s previous rulers misused or stole £220 billion ($400 billion) in the period between independence from Britain in 1960 and 1999, when the country returned to civilian rule.

Advancing Economic and Political Freedom in Africa
Africa’s problems cannot be solved simply by spending more money on development assistance, and President Bush should not hesitate to convey the message that the United States will not support a huge increase in foreign aid.At the G-8 summit, President Bush should argue that the specter of poverty in the African continent can best be challenged through open trade, increased foreign direct investment (FDI), and sustained political pressure on African governments to liberalize their economies and advance economic and political reform. The greatest gift the West can give to Africa and the developing world is not yet another short-term handout measured in dollars, pounds, or euros, but the seeds of liberty and freedom and a long-term commitment to holding African leaders to account for corruption, misrule, and human rights abuses.

The Couminst Michelle Malkin, is reporting that the Protets Warrior's one of my favorite groups was hacked! Its was hacked by leftist Anarchist, trying to supress, liberty. They are afraid of Protets Warrior, and are trying to break them. Protest Warrior's are a tough bunch, and I know they get over it! The FBI working with PW has begun an investigation and is charging the fat fuck who hacked there site!

The group's website was targeted by an anti-war loon who apparently conspired with a group of hackers to steal the credit card numbers of some 5,000 members. FBI and Secret Service were called in to investigate. (Hat tip: Right Wing Pundit)

In January 2005, Jeremy Hammond and the hacker group collectively known as the "Internet Liberation Front" gained illegal access to the ProtestWarrior server. Thousands of customer credit card numbers were then stolen for the purpose of making millions of dollars in donations to various leftwing organizations. In early February, ProtestWarrior discovered the illegal breach and the identity of the criminals responsible.
Using the hacker recruiting ground www.hackthissite.org, Jeremy Hammond put together and led a team of politically motivated "hacktivists" to probe the ProtestWarrior server for months until an exploit was found. When an obscure vulnerability was discovered in the PW server's newsletter subscription code, they managed to upload malicious files that gave them the ability to execute commands on the server.

Upon discovering the hack, we immediately began collecting information on the breach and managed to penetrate Jeremy's inner circle. We then collected evidence that more than 5,000 credit card numbers had been stolen by Jeremy and the "Internet Liberation Front" and that they were planning on doing the following:

*charge hundreds of dollars per stolen credit card number as donations to various left-wing organizations by using an automated donation submission script

*send the entire ProtestWarrior HQ database (complete with usernames, passwords, and operation details) to left-wing groups hostile to ProtestWarrior (including the entire contents of our mail server)

*upload all credit card numbers and other sensitive customer information to hundreds of anarchist and left-wing sites (specifically Indymedia) as a downloadable zip file

*anonymously send press releases and material to thousands of media contacts to boast of the malicious hack and the millions of dollars defrauded, and to publish any and all sensitive information regarding the ProtestWarrior organization

*erase the entire PW server

*launch simultaneous attacks on other conservative sites

Upon discovering their plans, we contacted the FBI and the Secret Service, who immediately began investigating the case...

I know that there are so many things to do, but for a few days let us not be selfish! Living in abig City like New York, I can get easily distracted, but there are times where we must look at what is really important! No matter what our our party affiliatons. we can all agree all people have a right to breath fresh air, drink fresh water, and be fed!

Yes, we all will because all of us want to live, and be healthy and to be loved! As Live 8 the concert by Bono rages around the Globe be of good cheer and embrace this moment. The children of the world who have no voice , will be advocated for.
